Scotland v Austria possible venue change
Topic Originator: allparone

The Austrian FA are going to request that the upcoming qualifier V Scotland is moved to a neutral country as most of their squad plays in Germany. The German government are currently ordering anyone returning from the UK to isolate for 14 days because of the Kent variant so it is unlikely the Bundesliga teams would release their players. This obviously means Scotland would lose their home game and when asked if this could be changed to be the Austrian home tie the head of their FA said no as it would put them at a financial disadvantage as their home game is scheduled for September and they are hoping to have fans in by then. Hopefully the SFA and FIFA tell them where to go lol.

Thats ridiculous, surely if you want to change venues you would flip flop home and away ties, for to then turn round and say that they wouldn't for financial reasons is farcical.

Tell them to gtf

Hopefully the SFA come out of this good and tell them where to go. No way should our home advantage be played at a neutral venue. Austria either have to take the hit or international football should be postponed until the travel bans are lifted.

think in South America they have postponed their upcoming games?

going slightly off topic but for us if Gaspuitis gets a call up for Lithuania he could be unavailable for 5 or 6 games, plus throw in the fact Macdonald is meant to be going back to Airdrie on loan, you got to hope if both happen we dont get an injury or suspension at the back.

I think it's daft holding the qualifiers just now....
Players moving countries and mixing players from other teams and countries just seems bizarre to me... At least the club comps their still within a bubble of sorts....

Lots of repercussions if the game is changed. Puskas Arena which seems to be the go-to neutral venue already hosting games. Issue is not with Austria travelling but german based players having to quarantine. Should the game be moved then the Sept qualifier will also be moved at a time when fans are likley to be returning to games. Upto Austria to make a formal request for this but not straight forward by any manner.

They should be told to gtf. Not our problem the German authorities have that rule in place.

With the Euros in the summer and the actual tournament only a year away, there is zero time to rearrange these qualifiers. They have to be played as planned.

Looks like it`s now been agreed that the game will go ahead next week without the Austrian`s German based players which is great for us.

Or Austria decided not to pursue the issue and make a formal request to Uefa but you just keep bashing the SFA
