 Che Adams
Topic Originator: wee eck

It`s rumoured that Southampton striker Che Adams, who has a grandparent qualification for Scotland although he has played for England under-20s, could be named in Steve Clarke`s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Could he solve our goalscoring problem? I think he`s only starting for Southampton because Danny Ings is injured although he scored a good goal against Brighton at the weekend. There`s no sign that Leigh Griffiths is going to recover his fitness and form before the Euros.

I've never really been a fan of the grand parent rule but as its there we might as well use it as best we can.

I actually think he looks like a striker of some potential and certainly better than almost everyone we have as it stands so if he wants to commit to Scotland I'd certainly take him.

He will be a welcome addition. We are hardly blessed with quality strikers?

BTW, wee eck, he normally plays alongside Ings and is a regular starter

Cheers, Raymie. I only take a passing interest in the EP. Anyway, he`s in the squad.

Finally decided to be Scottish after turning us down for years just as we have qualified for something.

Not really `turning us down for years` as opposed to hedging his bets in case he was good enough for an England call up.

Grandparent rulles are used by everyone - agree with them or not, we are not so overflowing with talent that we can ignore opportunities...

What happened to Jordan Rhodes?

Other countries have the 5 year resident rule which home countries have agreed not to implement, so we need to take advantage of what we can to get the best available. Adams is a very good player and should enhance the top end of the park.

Can’t blame the guy for hedging his bets, the preference would be England over Scotland every time if there was an ambition to win something at an International level.

Interesting time to do it though, he is on pretty good form and Southgate is willing to give players opportunities on merit.

Hadn`t seen Rhodes name for a while but he scored against Norwich at the weekend and has scored a couple recently. Think he has had his fair share of injuries and is playing in a struggling Sheffield Wednesday team. Age 31 now believe it or not.

Lyndon Dykes was being hailed as our great striking sensation but it seems he hasn`t scored for QPR since November and only 3 all season.

3 goals - 2 of them penalties - in 23 appearances. Admittedly, I don't know how many have been off the bench.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

Adams has looked good for Southampton whenever I`ve seen them this season - delighted he`s chosen to play for Scotland.

Now - are there any centre halves knocking about in England, as yet uncapped, but with a Scottish Grandparent? What`s Steven Caulker up to these days?
