Time for the club to come out and actually say what the script is with Turner. He`s one of our better midfielders. Utter pihs from the management over Turner, saying he wasn`t fit etc when actually he wasn`t included by choice.

Clearly been a falling out. Turner won championship player of the month in November or December and then barely featured since. He is one of our best midfielders

I`d much prefer SC came out and said Kyle doesn`t want to be here, he`ll not play so he`s off on loan, rather than telling us he`s unfit for weeks.

Yeah it's obviously something fairly significant as the manager has been happy to let him go and wasn't playing him. Managers live and die on these types of decisions so I'm sure Stevie has his reasons.

If it`s to do with not agreeing a new contract, it must be atitude in relation to not signing a new contract. As Euan Murray has refused a new contract and is still playing.

At this stage of the season and under the current loan rules could he have joined a Premiership or Championship club until the end of the season? If there`s `significant interest` in him for next season you would have thought he would have done better than a League 1 side just now.

Good move for us and for him and for Airdrie.

He doesn’t want to be here, he has no long term future here. Clearly been a difference in attitude between him and other out of contract players, so go figure.

As I’ve said previously, he struggled last season to adapt, we’ve improved him, he’s given us a 1/3 of a decent season and is refusing to continue his development here and dedicate any more time to us. Cheerio.

Nobody knows the situation so nobody is able to say whether it is or isn`t something the club can be transparent about. If it is attitude related then it can`t be spelled out in detail in the media as it would reflect badly on both parties. Silly on the players part, if it is though, as the Scottish game is tiny and managers always want to know about a players character.

This is all a bit of a mess with how it’s been handled, it’s been clear for a while now somethings been up between the club and Turner and whilst I wouldn’t expect the club to be completely open about it, a little bit more information would be beneficial.

To have this going on at this time of the season is far from ideal.

If it’s to do with interest elsewhere and breakdown in contract negotiations then fair enough, if his head has turned so be it, that’s his right and if he wants to move on, all the best to him, I only want players at the club that want to be here.

The decision not to play him, thought it might have been some pre-agreement with another club at first but clearly that’s not the case and in a season where we have a genuine chance of promotion, to decide not to use him who has positively impacted games...somethings clearly up and the relationships broken down.

An article on the site put up as short as that is just adding fuel to the fire.

How does this help either party as well thinking about it? If Turner is interested elsewhere then surely it’s mutually beneficial to continue to perform with us at a higher standard, he’ll get noticed more with us than with Airdrie and we reap the benefits of his performances to push us for promotion.

All speculation I know.

Doesn't want to sign, wants away.

Manager doesn't want to play him for that reason plus possibly something else which is none of our business.
Best for both is let him play elsewhere so he can hopefully get a new club, and maybe we could get a fee if there is enough interest. He should shine in a lower division, so smart move. Best for him and the club.

Fans do not need to know the detail. It might not be helpful to him for starters.

Leishman added: “ Celtic have Billy McNeill, Rangers have John Greig. At Dunfermline we have Norrie McCathie. He wasn’t Franz Beckenbauer or Alan Hansen but he was 100 per cent committed.

“He used to say: ‘If you don’t want to wear the jersey, stay in the dressing room’. That was his attitude towards playing for Dunfermline.

Agree with this 100%. The majority of his time here he was well off the standard required. Too slow, not strong enough physically, although he did look like he had some vision. This season he has improved a bit but only really had a couple of months where he looked capable of producing the performance level required to become an established player likely to play every week. He let newspaper speculation turn his head, and at the time when he should have been knuckling down, acting professionally, and ensuring he was putting on good displays to earn himself a new contract either here or elsewhere, he instead chose to go out on Saturday morning runs when he wasn't in the match day squad and then post about it on Instagram. A public 2 fingers to the Manager, but also by extention, to the Club, the board and the fans. Fair enough he would be disappointed not being named in the squad, but what if someone was injured in the lead up to kick off, would he be ready after a long morning run. Unprofessional. No one is bigger than the team. Let's see where he ends up, that sort of attitude doesn't go unnoticed. League 1 might be where he is playing next year

Pmsl.... Meltdown!! To be honest i was the same when Fais was here. It's business such is life. There has been something and someone at the club doesn't want him there or creating bad feeling in dressing room (might be out of Crawford Hands)
Freezing a player out in my eye's is wrong, unless it is performance based.
Anyway another wage being saved, and possibly a more positive vibe around the players. Speculation 100% but aren't we all??

Was linked with Hearts before Xmas, if he`s refusing to sign on and hoping for a move to the Premiership, then so be it. But half a dozen decent games for us in 2 seasons doesn`t merit a move to a higher level in my eyes.
Get him punted just now, which yes should be a coup for Airdrie and let him go come end of the season. The lad just had to be careful not to jump ship to a higher league too quick otherwise he`ll end up back at Stranraer rotting away in League 2 in two or three years time. (that`s my prediction). Clearly got ability but has to have the level head to go with it.

As for Euan Murray, maybe he hasn`t ruled out signing a contract and waiting out, we`ve had that before. Sure Callum Morris held out and then agreed an extension when nobody else wanted him. Kyle Turner I guess has told the club he won`t be extending his stay and that`s that.

The club don`t owe us any explanation, he`s just another player that`s came and went and not made a huge huge impact for us. Time to move on.

Not knowing why is the only part that sticks in my craw a tiny wee bit but ultimately this is a good bit of business.

Keeping MacDonald, who has done well, for the play off push.

Getting rid of someone who has no future at Dunfermline.

Strange that he got a few minutes at the weekend to be honest.

Lol Sergio I don’t think that’ll stay on for long....

I note maybe Kyle himself has been on and thumbs downed every negative post about him 😂

Ah well. Be interesting to see where he ends up next season. Maybe a good summer and a gym bunny attitude might get him the deal he obviously thinks he deserves.

Maybe a period of reflection on the outcome for Kevin Nisbet might be handy too. After all that’s our model now, bring in talent, develop and recoup from transfer market. But if players don’t play ball with that....off they go.

There’s lots of speculation going around about this situation which merits a response from club. We’ve seen before with players who aren’t one of Crawford favourites. If you put yourself in Kyle’s shoes what would you do? There was talk of a training ground incident with Dom Thomas but then DT has Covid and is back in the squad. KT was supposed to be injured when he clearly wasn’t. KT is still very young and inexperienced. If he has signed a pre contract with Hearts and doesn’t want to be at East End then get him to Tynecastle now. Do the same with what we did with Wighton. If that isn’t the case then I thought he has been one of our better players with so much potential. He was upset that he wasn’t in the squad and posted that he had gone for a run. What’s the big deal. It shows he cares and that he’s hurting. So far I’m not a fan of McDonald and if I had the choice between Turner and McDonald then I would be choosing. KT. When KT plays we play more attractive attacking football. Our loss is definitely Airdrie`s gain. I hope he proves the management team wrong and shows what we’re missing at Airdrie. Good Luck Kyle. Think as a club this is a big mistake.

All this piddle talk about going to hearts, IF that was the case then I am pretty sure Hearts would have wanted Kyle on loan for 6 months as part of Wighton deal and if it really is down to players attitude or discipline then pars would have agreed.
If i remember correctly Hearts were in the perfect position to hold for a 2 way swap as they weren't going to let wighton come here after signing pre contract. Then they agreed to loan him to us after Armand came in.

Turners a decent player and hopefully he will find his way and go on to have a decent career. Just no against us.

Clearly there is something wrong but we can only speculate. I think KT has improved whilst he has been with us so its a shame to see him go under such circumstances. I doubt the club or player will comment due to confidentiality.

These things happen so club and player need to move on.

I’ ve been really impressed with Turner this season and have been crying out for him to be in the team. However, he’s gone now and we’ll probably never really know why - ultimately it doesn’t really make any difference. I wish him well but am now only really interested in those available to the team.

I am concerned about the number of players who don’t want to stay at EEP. Turner is another example. Morris went, Murray doesn’t want to stay. Of course money could be a factor but if we get back to the SPL we could match most teams wages.

The way I see it is Pars are an attractive Scottish club, arguably a SPL side. So players of Turners calibre this should be a good club for him at this stage in his career.

When I watch Dunfermline sub standard performances I can understand there must be massive frustration in the team. We have a really good squad but I worry that most of them will not want to stay until we get a more motivational and competent management team.

I'd have thought it was fairly obvious what has happened. And based on that, the club are obviously not going to go into any detail.

This place gets worse, this could be the most ridiculous post yet.

If you don’t understand economics and why players move it really does beggar belief.

What about the players that do want to come and stay? Sign new contracts?

The manger and his staff have us 2nd place in the league having never been out the top 3 all season.

Think you should try and befriend some players or at least get the ear of some, that might qualify you to comment more realistically

These guys are all proffesionals. It is their livelihood. Yet somehow in 2021 they are bought and sold like cars. We have as much right to know the full story as the players have to know why Jimmy Pars left his job suddenly in the Dockyard.
Some of you are frothing at the mouth demanding the full story. Better things to worry about than this. To me beating Caley on Saturday is the most important thing.

Honestly why can’t we ask our club what was the decision with Turner?
If they come out and say a private matter then fair enough but some posters on here are all “what’s done is done etc”

The fact that they have not given any explanation makes it obvious that it is a private matter. Why would anyone need clarification of something so obvious?

Who do you know who could get us higher than 2nd?

All I said was plenty of players don’t sign contracts and play for their clubs till the end of the season.. why not Turner?
So we keep McDonald and send one of our best attacking midfielders to Airdrie??
But of course we cannot question this as most of the posters on here don’t want to question the club?

Why do you think EEP?

Why do you think we've had dozens of players who have played up until the end of the season despite the club knowing they were leaving? And why might you imagine Turner has, unusually, seen a different course of action?

Maybe you stop trying to interfere in the runnings of a football team that you have no business of knowing and let the manager just get on with his job?
He’s got a whole squad to keep happy and doesn’t have to explain to nosy fans the reasons for players being dropped or put on loan.

Well from where I am looking at it. Mcdonald was due to go back to Airdrie on loan for the remainder of the season after he signed a contract with us. Turner it is clear has refused a contract so the management /board have said ok we will give you Turner as a direct replacement on loan for Mcdonald then there is no disruption to the team or McDonald's development and we can continue to develop and work with a player who has signed a deal for us.

It seems to me as simple and correct judgement. I think from all fans all we want to see is commitment and desire.

Wish the guy all the best. He had a few good games at the start of this season (Hearts at home he was a standout) and at the start of last season but overall was fairly underwhelmed.
I think reading between the lines he has got a moved lined up in the summer.

Awight Pat!

No longer bothered by this now that Crawford has said about Turner turning down a new deal and adding some transparency. Ultimately it sounds like the final choice was Turner’s and he decided to leave.

Strange one really and a shame all round. He was improving, decent skills and composure and looked like he was getting stronger. However something has happened, he doesn`t want to stay and is affecting the squad so off he goes. We`ve lost much better players than him although I was looking forward to seeing how he developed.

Stevie explains it perfectly well. Suits both clubs and both players.

Kyle ( or more likely his agent ) feels he can get a better deal in the summer

I read that he didn't want to sign a new contract. I have seen him improve as a player since he came to us so I would agree with SC's comments. Its disappointing from the club perspective no doubt given the time and investment they have put in. Going out to Airdrie may give him time and space to reconsider. I personally hope that he does. He needs one more season with us in my view. In my opiin moving on too soon didn't help FEB. The grass isnt always greener on the other side. If he doesn't stay, I wish him well in his career.
