Good appointment - served his time as Atalanta B, Brown I can’t see him leaving Celtic when a similar opportunity should arise there for him as a coach.

Always been a big fan of Glass - one of the sweetest left pegs the Scottish game has seen.

Brown cutting his teeth as an assistant at Aberdeen wouldn`t be bad gig for him.

Now that would be interesting - are you allowed to give a Fergie hairdryer though. Thought it was all arms round shoulders asking what’s wrong now?

Never been called “Glassy” in his life, where did you get that from?

Nickname was Zico, still uses it to this day.

Good move from him at this stage in his career

He did a decent job at atlanta last year after the mess frank de boer left. He did a great job at atl utd 2 in the usl league under MLS.

Plays a nice progressive, fluid style of football.

Obviously the current Chairman has had a close eye on "Glasso" I believe he lives in Atlanta. Interesting appointment and I`m glad another young Scottish manager is getting a chance at this level.

Don't forget abderdeen and atlanta have an ownership model and atl chairman sits on the aberdeen board as an advisor. Expect to see some atlanta reserve or youth players heading to the dons

That bodes well for the Scottish game.I bet the Aberdeen fans can`t wait to get their hands on some reserves from an American team that finished 23rd in the table. Maybe they will bring in Jake Mulraney on loan :)

I noticed the Venezuelan guy that Atlanta recommended to Aberdeen, and they paid a substantial sum for , is now on loan at Atlanta after failing to settle in Scotland! You never know they might unearth the next Max Cream.

they will have to get a move on if thats what they want to do before the new permit rules are ratified, although that applies to everyone including us.

can Brown combine the two roles as is being reported? the key to that is probably who else is on the coaching staff.

Brown would make a decent player manager for a championship club instead of an assistant to Glass

Player managers are a thing of the past. That`s Brown signed a pre-contract with Aberdeen.

Brown described as `player-coach` and `part of the coaching team`. Sounds like the sort of role Steven Whittaker has with us.

Can someone enlighten me as to why a lot of people think Brown will make a good manager? Being a good player is no guarantee of being a good manager as we know only too well. The skillset is entirely different.

Equally, we don't know that he'll make a poor manager because he was a good player. One advantage a good player going into management has is that he doesn't have to earn the respect of his players first because he's already "been there and done it."

Not your average Sunday League player.

parthaletic - Last year was awful for Atlanta - Frank De Boer left a complete shambles - cleared out 3 of our better players cause he didnt like them.

I have no doubt they will be back among the top 6 easily this year and honestly have a load of great players at all levels in the club - a lot of them could do great in the SPL - MLS is a much better league now than it was even 10 years ago.

*Ahem*

Murray saw Glass and Brown forge a strong bond in the Hibs’ dressing room, although they were both very different characters.

He added: “Glassy was a bit older than us, and helped Scott a lot in those early days of his career.

“He was always there for the younger lads, leading by example and giving advice when it was needed.

“They were close back then, and have remained in touch ever since.
