Maybe there’s not much appetite for them but we can’t stay in denial. The highlights are all over youtube and confirm what the ‘armchair experts’ were saying all throughout Buffy’s blog. Long before the goals were being slammed in, Pars fans had identified there was a massive problem. Even before kick off one person was anxious about such a young midfield, a midfield that was so overrun it caused our defence to be pulled out of shape time and again.
The failure to get on the front foot and assert ourselves was identified within ten minutes and resulted in Raith players being able to lift their heads and pick out a runner, a runner who was not being tracked. All of this was obvious to DAFC.net watchers yet it seems SC was unable to deal with the problem.
Saddest I think for us is not just being hammered, but that we were hammered by a Raith team that played the sort of football we think Dunfermline could. Ozpar twigged this back last year when he rated Raith’s ability to attack from wide areas. Raith players last night were taking the ball on the move and passing it to a man on the move. This season Dunfermline’s passer and receiver are normally standing still. That is a big difference.
