I have bought my front row seat! I hope I don`t regret it it.

Their last two abysmal performances were at least free!!

The few `paid for` ones before that were poor too.

Thai/Coalville Par were made some minor tweaks in previous games. it seemed to affect some people
we have reverted a couple of minor things (for the ICT game) and reports were again positive.

however, if you have any issues us the support link on ParsTV (though around kick off we expect that it will get busy)

More a comment on the team's performance .

Please try and get sigtned in or logged in by 2.30pm.

It`s usually a mad dash for people logging in with 5 minutes to go, and that also doesn`t help with Paypal payments taking longer to process at that time

Is anyone able to follow the ball? Lack of zoom and the exposure makes it really hard when it’s not up against the near side touch line.

More zoom as standard would certainly be appreciated it is quite hard to see the play on the majority of the pitch and in shadows. The framing seems to include an awful lot of sky and seating which we don't need.

Picture quality is good though.

Good stream for me today. Dropped out for a couple of minutes, but that was before the game started and once I got back in it was perfect for the whole game.

As a pairing, the commentary was quite good I thought. Jordan is fine when he just talks about the game and I think it worked quite well having a second commentator that was quite direct, which meant that the waffle that can be annoying just didn`t happen. It`s not that any of the others are bad, I just thing that as a pairing this one worked better, with two very differet styles complementing each other well.

The contrast and zoom is a difficult one. It`s always annoying when part of the ground is in sunshine and the other in shade and I`m not sure there`s much that could be done about that. I generally prefer a wider view that isn`t zoomed in too far so that I can see what`s happening off the ball, i.e. the first half setup was better for me. That`s definitely one where it`s impossible to get it right for everyone.

I watched the live stream of Carlisle’s game today which finished bang on 3 o’clock. I got logged on to Parstv really quickly and only missed the first few minutes from EEP. Good pictures, especially the second half, commentary and analysis were fine and no connection problems on my Firestick. Thanks.

I was manning the live camera today.

I’ll take all the comments on board. I was aware via Twitter that the first half was more zoomed out than perhaps people were expecting. I tried to rectify that as best as I could in the second half, so I hope that came through in the footage of the second 45.

Glad to have had the opportunity - first time operating a camera rig that the ParsTV guys have, so really good experience for me and I enjoyed the duty.

Well done, Ben.

The contrast between the brightness of the day and the dark areas in the shade of the stands made the first half quite difficult to watch, particularly the Hearts players in all-maroon. Not much you could do about that.

But I thought the second half was much improved with zooming in - although I suspect Socks will be along any minute to say he needs the wider view to assess the tactical formations etc. :)

Well done Ben on joining the team. It's not an easy task especially at first time doing it. At least you didn't go mad with zooming in and oot trying to correct it in first half and it was better in second half.
Good to see you getting actively involved though. I enjoy watching some of your YouTube videos as well when I have time.

I thought the commentary was good, but the camera work was poor in the first half. Sorry Ben. It did improve slightly in the second half, but the ball went missing on too many occasions for my liking.

I tend to agree with Socks that the commentary is better without the waffle when it just addresses the game. There were at least a couple of occasions where an attacking play was occuring while the waffle continued... that really needs to stop.

My stream dropped out a dozen times, though that possibly could have been down to my watching the stream on a MacBook while on battery power.

As Brian well knows, I have been a strong supporter of Pars TV since it started, so it pains me a little to say this, but I feel that in a number of respects it has declined rather than improved.

I think it is time for the team to take a really good look at its output, look at what other teams do and ask some hard questions. From my point of view, I think Raith TV is a fine exemplar. They seem to have got the balance pretty much right.

I recognise that Pars TV essentially was a voluntary service, but this season it has moved on from being just available to overseas fans to now being available to everyone and it costs fans 12 pounds a pop. Effectively, it has gone from amateur to professional. And with that comes a rise in expectations.

I suspect that live streaming for all, in one form or other, will become a permanent feature once the Covid emergency ends. The football clubs will not want to give up what has become a new source of income. There is potential to exploit this in a multitude of ways and the commercially astute will be alert to the opportunity that is arising here.

My stream dropped around a dozen times too. Came back within a minute each time, usually with a lower resolution for 20 seconds or so before it switched back to HD.

Enjoyed the commentary. Camera work was much better in 2nd half. It can't be easy covering a game with a single camera.

While it was difficult to pick out players from long range yesterday, camera work did improve in the second half and it was Ben’s first attempt. While I agree the Raith TV streaming and overall product was very good (but only n=1 as recent away game was on an ESPN channel here), as another long-term ParsTV supporter I think Pars TV has continued to improve this season with greater stream reliability, better picture quality and the addition of half time interviews. The many replays very soon after the action yesterday were also good and best yet. With the lack of walk up fans and loss of other match day income and cost of a streaming ticket (only one needed per household) being much less than a walk up ticket the club presumably needs all the cash it can get right now. I’d still like to thank all the ParsTV volunteers for all they do to give us streamed games and highlights packages.

“Effectively, it has gone from amateur to professional.”

What utter nonsense Oz.
You had the chance to thank Ben yesterday for the last minute call up but instead took a pop at the whole of ParsTV.
They’re ALL volunteers - not professionals and not getting paid for their continual club services.
A lot of hard work goes into each and every stream, set up, to make everyone’s viewing of the matches and commentary as good as possible, and just because a lot more people are paying to watch it right now - you wouldn’t have ANY streaming if it wasn’t for ParsTV - does not make if any less suitable for the tasks at hand.

You mention RaithTV - they are also volunteers, as are the majority of SPFL club streaming services.

Look Buffy, I know as well as anyone the effort that people put into Pars TV. Time and again I have expressed my appreciation of the service. I know everyone is a volunteer.

I am simply pointing out that, despite what others have said, the service in terms of stream quality that I have been receiving in recent months has declined. And in terms of overall presentation, Pars TV is no longer setting the pace in this division.

Where once Pars TV was the best in the Championship, in my opinion Raith TV is now better, by quite some way to be honest. And yes, they are volunteers too.

Now, I didn`t want this to be any more than a bit of constructive criticism. Pars TV is an essential service for me. But I can see on the horizon problems brewing.

There will inevitably be players out there who are watching what is going on with these club streaming services and they will be seeing an opportunity and looking to get a slice of the action.

Now, they will either muscle their way in through a contract with the SPFL or they will look to buy out Brian and his cohorts. They may even compete directly. No one knows, but something in bound to happen and Brian and his team need to be prepared for such an event.

Pars TV is no longer broadcasting to a few dozen expats for a fiver a time. It is broadcasting to hundreds, potentially thousands at 12 pounds a throw. There is sizeable money involved now, and that`s what I meant in saying that effectively the approach has to be professional as the expectations have risen.

I am not looking to upset anyone, just state a plain truth.

I think I have had my most consistent and best ParsTV streaming experience this season. Also as walk up fans generate so much more revenue, multiple people need multiple tickets to watch live, and it is so much better watching live at the ground (in part for reasons Socks has expressed but also atmosphere, Legends etc) I would imagine there might well be a return to only streaming to expats when fans are allowed back. Considering it is volunteers at the different clubs who are putting out streams for us I think they have done well and I certainly appreciate all their efforts. ParsTV has also sought to improve and add features over the years and I would expect Brian and the team will continue to do so going forward.

Isn`t it more than likely that streaming games to UK audiences will be banned again when fans are free to return to grounds on match-days?

I guess that is what the clubs will want, but I'm also sure that this season will have shown there is an appetite for live streaming, and where there is money to be made then a way is usually found.

This season in England the EFL teamed up with Sky Sports and about a dozen sponsors to provide an excellent service of live match streaming (iFollow), much higher quality than any of the Scottish offerings and just £10/match.

Even as a decades-long supporter of live football I would be very tempted to watch a match on screen, rather than travel a considerable distance on a wet Tuesday evening in November.

dialogue is a good thing, and I have no problem with constructive comments :o)
it is good to move forward.

there has been much going on behind the scenes.
also recently we`ve had some new people in to help out with the camera and commentary. thev`e done a great job in the short time.

I do agree that for a spell there were some issues with the stream quality going out that seemed to affect some more than others. about 4-6 weeks ago.

I believe we have resolved this in the last two games as the stream quality and output is back to being good again. We are looking into multiple cameras and hope to have these working soon.

I did think the issue was with the CDN but we discovered that our streaming software was behaving incorrectly (we think it had crashed about 6 weeks ago) We reverted it and built up the streaming output frames again and with some other tweaks we got the service back to normal.

For a week or two I had been trying connection settings until we realised the software problems and we have finally cracked it. Many clubs have had some issues, it semes that Hearts too had similar problems during March.

I also take the point regarding where we are going and working to improve the overall product. I had a vision 18 months ago that the football clubs should work together to produce a streaming service (Pars< Raith, Fkirk etc had been streaming for many years).
I started a new development to try and produce anew platform: https://ScottishFootball.online

Didn`t get very far with that until Pars and Queen of the South came on board at the beginning of the season (they have been agreat help to us). Some progress though, Alloa and 4 Highland League Clubs have come on board and using the same OTT PLatform (which will help everybody using it).

Working with the clubs will improve the output platform. Each club though has to do the production at their stadium but again working together will help produce a better product.

ParsTV need a Production Studio at East End Park to be able deal with the operation on matchday, especially in winter when its baltic and your hands are cold.

Before the beginning of the season an Israeli company Pixellot offered an AI camera solution and the SPFL went for that option instead of say mine !

I think the "cat is out the bag", you can`t go back now and stream "overseas only".
Pirate streams which were intended as overseas only have shown that.

Majority of fans will want to go to a game but there is an appetite to see your team if you are not well to attend or to far away to travel.

As much as we enjoyed travelling to away grounds, and meeting the home TV team, I don`t see us doing away streams any more. IMO

I`ve been doing all the new devlopment myself with the help of the ParsTV team testing. Happy for any software development tech people to help further.

sorry for the long post.

FWIW the ticket money for the streaming goes straight to the club. What would be the point of any outside party wanting to buy out a club streaming service and not make a profit for themselves?

There are always good remarks re the co commentary team for the Arbroath tv crew (the Farmer) yet some of you say you don’t want our own commentators to “waffle”. Double standards much?

Even pro pundits are known to talk about off field activities and the game in hand. That’s what makes a good commentary. The ability to mix it up and provide something for everyone.

FAO the parstv team - you’ll never please everyone ~ but the ones who make the most noise and demand something better will never get the chance to do what you all do.

Keep up the good work - all of you (and ps just because I was on the beach in St Andrew’s yesterday didnae mean I couldn’t have a last minute call up too ye know 😂).

First Post for many years. Can I say a big well done to the parstv team. I think it is a really professional setup. I understand at times there are a couple of issues but my experience has been positive. I`ve watched more games this season than I have ever before living in the South of England. Going forward would you look to introduce a season ticket for the streaming service?

Buffy, it was me who first mentioned `waffle` on this thread, so whether or not that bit was aimed at me, I`m going to come back on it. I mentioned it constructively and said that the two doing commentary yesterday worked well and it meant that actually there wasn`t much waffle. I`ve mentioned it a few times during the season and have always tried to do it constructively and in a way that doesn`t rip anyone to shreds. So, no, I don`t think there`s any double standards from me. As it happens, I found that guy at Arbroath quite annoying. Others will have a different view and that`s fine.

Absolutely, it will never be perfect for everyone as we all have our own personal tastes on things like commentary style and camera zooming. As long as things aren`t said unkindly, it can be useful for people to say what they don`t like as well as what they do. In the early days of Pars TV, I hated doing interviews with the manager after the game and was keen to read on here what people thought of them, as I knew they were far from perfect. Someone mentioned that I tended to waffle on a bit before actually getting to a question, and that Jim McIntyre`s eyes would start wandering as if to say `is there a question coming?`. I watched it back, agreed with the point made, and the next time it was better.

The main reason there was no Season Ticket for online stream is that we couldn`t guarantee how many games there would be.

I hope some of what I said above shows the ParsTV team have been working hard behind the scenes.

It is difficult to get 100% everybody working due to technology.

You can`t compare it to sky/BTsport - at least not yet until we build up a bit bigger lol

Socks, FWIW I have always found your posts both constructive and most certainly not mean spirited. If anything you're conveying your opinion on a product you have paid for and doing so in a mature and polite manner.

I can only really speak for myself having done the co-comms a few times this season and as you say it is good to receive constructive criticism. It allows yourself to reflect on feedback and consider what to do better and to improve. Considering myself I proably do waffle when I shouldn't in some occasions - in my defence I feel I might do this to back up a point or try and add extra depth plus if a clear opportunity in the match occurs I'll try and stop or halt what I was saying and allow Jordan to take over appropriately.

Saying that sometimes a directness and what can be said in a few words rather than a hundred is clearly much better when watching a game of football. In previous seasons Jordan and I have also had to do a radio broadcast simultaneously for ParsTV so some of those habits may be rubbing off as well when I'm doing comms. Hopefully I've not irritated you enough to devalue your enjoyment of the service. Ultimately what we all want is to be back at the ground some time soon and whilst I genuinely feel we deliver a good replacement of our footballing experience in the current climate, it is clearly not the same as actually being there.

I know myself how hard the guys work to get ParsTV up and running and if I'm lucky enough to be involved at any other point I'll try and take on board any pointers as such. At the end of the day I'm just an enthusiast who takes sad little notes throughout the week to try and research - there are plenty of posters who have played football with me on this forum who can reasonably cast doubt on my expertise!

I only caught bits and bobs of the game on Saturday but from what I heard David was superb - not that I was surprised given the quality of output he puts out via social media. A real natural and I'm delighted that it added to many people's enjoyment - bar the Pars inability to score! A big shout out to Ben as well who saved the day manning the camera and caught all the action. I know if I was a novice asked to do the same the viewing experience would've been akin to the Blair Witch Project.

Thanks for that - appreciated.

And what I say is only my opinion - it doesn`t make me right, and other people will definitely have a different take which is equally valid. A style that is perfect for everyone just is not possible so everyone doing it has to be themselves to some extent, rather than spending the whole time worrying about what some people watching might think of it.

Even though I`ve made critical comments on specific things, I`m still very grateful to everyone who has been involved in commentary, camera work and the back-end technical stuff in getting the stream out of the ground and would not want anyone to be discouraged by anything I`ve said about the streams this season.
