Ayr Vs Dundee

A win for Dundee puts them five points clear of us with a game in hand but a win for Ayr puts them two points behind us before we go down and play them at Somerset on Saturday. Any chance they could both lose?

Morton Vs ICT another biggie for us. A Thistle win would push us back out of the playoffs, trailing them by two points but a Morton win puts them back into playoff running.

I think draw`s all round is the best we can hope for, although I do suspect Dundee will finish 2nd so if they were to win and keep Ayr out of things I`d be happy.

If Ayr v Dundee could finish a draw and Morton beat Inverness, for me that would be the best set of results.

I think draws would be best . Reading Ayr fans views they are very gloomy and concerned. They also mention that the pitch at Somerset is playing very poorly, it does seem to have deteriorated badly this season. For a long time Somerset was considered one of the best playing surfaces. Ayr seem to have resorted to long ball tactics to combat this and their fans aren`t happy.
Difficult to see past Dundee though.

Think ICT will be too strong for Morton, they looked very useful against Ross County.

Tough to say what's for the best tonight . Probably draws .
Bottom line , it really shouldn't have come to this .
We should've been taking care of business for ourselves .

If we can get through tonight still in the playoffs would be a good night.

Draws are probably the best case all round. It's really in our own hands if we make it now, the two easiest away games in the division (based on points collected by Ayr and Alloa at home) but we've struggled massively to pick up points away this season.

At home we've managed to maintain the second best record in the league so we have to exploit that fully v Dundee, Arbroath and Queens. Dundee are still to play raith, with raith also due to play hearts on the final day of the season. If there was ever a time for the team to discover their form again now is it!

I always want the team above us to lose. The certainty of them finishing ahead of us trumps the possibility of someone catching us.

That way it will be in our hands

I know it might not do much good to look back, but you can't help but wonder if some of the complacency that was evident on these boards , wasn't also to some degree in the minds of some of our players .
We'll never know but if any lessons can be learned , then maybe it's no bad thing to keep recent events in mind .

Not a championship game , but in league 1 Partick are 2 down at East Fife , Partick have Williamson starting , Steven Bell , Joe Cardle and Andy Geggan on the bench. East Fife have Chris Higgins and Ryan Wallace starting ,Miller Fenton on the bench

I am trying to watch Ayr vDundee but it is by many miles the worst stream I have watched all season. The camera is positioned only about 6-8 feet above the pitch and the camera operator hasnt got the hang of the zoom-in function. Meaning most of the time you havent a clue where the ball is - its like spot the ball except in a moving picture.

Oh and the picture keeps buffering every 10 seconds so completely lousy viewing.

I think both teams have been pretty poor. 0-0 after 57 mins

Anyway let the happy clappers continue and it’s clear we will be in the championship next season!

Well the Ayr PPV stream was awful, much much worse since the last time we played over there. It was very difficult to follow the ball , if that is repeated on Saturday there will be a lot of unhappy fans. It was so bad it was difficult to express a view on the performances.

Everything is still in our own hands , I am sure everyone has heard this many times already , Inverness have now played 23 games won 8 drawn 9 lost 6 and have 31 points
Our record is played 22 won 8 drawn 7 lost 6 and we have 31 points
So once again We are facing a must win game to get into that 4th spot !!
I watched Ayr v Dundee there was nothing in the game till Dundee scored then Ayr`s heads went down ,
So we need to score quickly and kill them off to give ourselves a fighting chance of moving into 4th ,there is really no margin for error from us We need to Win and do it ourselves without relying on other teams as the start says it is in our hands

Can't understand how this situation has arisen . I was told by our panel of experts we were fine . Nothing to worry about .
Plenty to worry about now eh .
BTW, I'm not trying to be wise after the event .
I saw this coming a long time ago ., our performances were gash , even in some of the games we got points .
In that respect the league did lie , but it's beginning to reflect our performances now .

All season results have suited us, helped us. Now we are at the business end of the league season it becomes harder to benefit from.
Let's see what the reaction is like in our next game and take it from there.

Tonight’s results aren’t great for us and I fear Dundee, Raith and ICT all have the momentum and we’re going to finish outside the top 4.

Good luck to the guys but it’ll be a right challenge to pull this off. What I will say is if we manage to secure a playoff place then we might then have the momentum ourselves to surprise a few in the playoffs, but I’ll not hold my breath.

Parsweep, really despise the tone of your post.

You were told by the ‘panel of experts’. You’re also not trying to be wise but that’s a couple of threads now you’ve said the same thing, couldn’t be anymore obvious if you were standing outside EEP with a placard saying ‘I told you so’.

Get stuffed, at that point when it was discussed we were playing poorly but we still had a lot of factors in our favour. A few of us, decided, you know what, let’s be positive, we were still in the playoffs, had about three games in hand on teams, there was naff all in reality to start wetting our pants over so early.

Also this happy clapper nonsense that gets thrown to anyone who dabbles in a bit of optimism really does my head in and funnily enough the people that use the term are the doom merchants that you sense want us to fail so they can come on here and start criticising.

One thing I can say is despite the hard times Crawford is going through and the challenges he’s facing, he loves this club more than some folk on this forum.

Anyway, back on point. The objective remains as is for us and that should hopefully be the message to the players, nothing changes, we go out to win against Ayr. It isn’t a must win and we aren’t in the playoffs but yes it would make it much more difficult (damn sorry for being a tad optimistic).

Looking at the fixtures, I’m inclined to think ironically Raith are the team we might need to look at catching. Dundee and ICT are in great form and Raith schooled us but after Arbroath at home they have:

QOTS, Alloa, Dundee all away and then Hearts at home. All tricky to manoeuvre.

Just need to take it a game at a time and focus on the positives from the Hearts game rather than what happened tonight. It’s still in our control and that’s what is important, we need to keep it that way.

Great post, Berry. A play off place is still in our own hands, but we might have to win all our remaining games - a very tall order but not impossible. I'm glad we don't have the likes of EEP and Parsweep doing the motivational pre-match team talks. We'd be beaten before we left the dressing room.....

ICTs remaining games are

QoS away
Dundee home
Hearts away
Ayr home

That's a pretty difficult set of fixtures relative to ours. We need to start winning but it's not panic stations yet and is very much in our own hands.

I believe we are were we are and it’s our own doing so no point in complaining. If we want to have any chance we must go in with the correct positive attitude. We must show it means the world to us and play a positive team. We can’t go in with one up front and hope we get lucky. Let’s be positive and have a real go and we can still turn it round. Team selection on Saturday will tell all. CMON Pars last big push.

Don’t think it’s a bit strong personally, why not just say what you mean rather than dance around it, mention not trying to be wise after the event but everything before you say that is exactly what you are trying to do.

That's a bit strong Berry .
Oh well , maybe I hit a nerve .

Or maybe he's right and you come across as a bit of a wise after the event walloper

Nah . I'm a wise before the event walloper .

Well if you give enough monkeys enough sh1t to chuck at a wall eventually some of it will stick, I suppose

I thought it was a bit strong , and it was directed at me .
I tend not to get personal . There are plenty on here who treat posters who have alternative views like wee children . A wee pat on the head and a few words to say how silly their view is .
My posts have been quoted in quite a few folks posts in a negative way , so nobody should be surprised when I revisit them to remind them of it .

It's worth considering that saying names like "happy clapper" is no less annoying that calling someone a "miserable B".

Neither is helpful. As buffy has said, the majority of us aren't happy. However, we need to be practical here. I like a moan as much as anyone but moaning won't get us anywhere. We need to have some faith here. It's doubtful we will get promoted and we cannot control results elsewhere. All that is within our control is to support the team. They may perform well, they may perform badly. We can't really impact on that. We're not in the stadium to give encouragement but I've no doubt Stevie and the guys come on here and read what's said.

Like most people, I was not a happy bunny after the wee team game. The Hearts performance was far, far better and gave me some hope.

We've known from the start the play-offs are our only real chance so let's go for it. If we don't make it then it's time to review what's gone wrong and what needs to change.
