How much space - completely standing off them. This is a makeshift Ayr team and we are giving them far too much time on the ball. Get into their faces and they will crumple. Coming Crawford sort it or get out.

Absolute horrific defending there but as gordi-b says since we scored we have done nothing and we have sat back a bit too
Our passing needs to be much faster and to our own men instead of giving it away all the time

No attempt to press from the midfield combines with shocking defending. More angry at the non-pressing part. Just allowed them all the space and time to pick out a pass. Shocked if we get anything from this now. All Ayr since we scored which is usually the case when we take the lead.

After a hugely improved performance against Hearts we’re back to the “lost souls” tactics. Does anyone know what they’re meant to be doing? McManus (his goal apart) is playing far too deep and O’Hara up front just isn’t making enough impression. Again, it’s endless panicked clearances from defence and in midfield everything’s slowing down or stopping. And let’s draw a veil over the hoofed balls up the park ....... to nobody in particular. Ayr are not making much impression, yet they’re still making chances, their runners are getting into dangerous positions - particularly down the left - and it’s only the final ball that’s letting them down. Second half must be an improvement: it couldn’t be much worse.

SC needs to put something in their half time drink !
No pass marks from me for any of them
I keep hearing in every interview that the play offs is their aim ! I wish they would prove it to us !
at present as it stands at half time !
Dundee 23 games 37 points sitting 3rd
Inverness 24 games 34 points sitting 4th
Pars 23 games 32 points sitting 5th
QOS 23 games 31 points sitting 6th
Ayr 24 games 27 points sitting 7th
Cmon pars you have 45 mins to put this right and win !! and to give us a chance of making the top 4

Have to agree with all the comments about how dire this is !
I am sure we would much rather post how well we are playing etc but right now it is impossible as everything we are doing is amateurish and we keep giving the ball away ! maybe a visit to specsavers would help them
This Ayr team is there for the taking if we can just produce some decent football

He has to be one of the worst managers I`ve seen in charge of us. Sadly the majority of fans saw this coming when he got the job. We all desperately wanted him to success but he his miles off it. All I`ve heard is Hopkin scream instructions all game and not a peep from Crawford. The only positive I`ll give Crawford is that he is able to recruit decent players. Unfortunately, he doesn`t know how to play them.

No we wouldn't. Everyone around us is playing each other and we are playing the bottom sides. We could lose every game between now and the end of the season and would more than likely end up staying out of the wrong play offs. Overall a missed opportunity but not a terrible result.

If a manager cannot get his team buzzing for an important game like this he should not be manager of the Pars
We all seen this coming but nothing has been done about it by the board !
there will be some here that will be saying it is in our own hands still
But I haven`t seen anything for a long time to make me feel positive that we can still get into the top 4
1 win away from home tells the story

A draw was a fair result and kind of sums up our season. I agree with posters who want to be positive, but in all honesty there’s little to be positive about. Some of the passing today was truly woeful. I know there will be a separate MOM thread but for his goal, his work rate and for his one sublime and accurate pass to Henderson I’d say McManus wins hands down. One other positive: I thought OFW commanded his box well and came out much more than he has recently.

6 points ahead of trouble with 4 games to play.

Hopefully that should be enough.

Only reason I actually want us to get into play off position is due to higher we finish higher prize money. Do not really want to watch a home and away tie if we play like we have been.

According to BBC match stats 8 shots and 2 on target. Wighton`s stats on BBC Top Scorers are 88% shot accuracy and 50% goal conversion and yet spent most of the game on the bench!

Wee Eck normally I would agree with you
Yes the league is tight but once again when we get the chance we blow it
Is it so difficult to pass to your own player ?
Why did our defense most of the game just punt it up the park when they had time ?
Once again I am very disappointed with the way we played or should I say the lack of how we played , no point having 3 strikers on if they do not get the ball

"1 win away from home tells the story"

As does 2 points from the last 15.

All the teams will be feeling today was a lost opportunity, not just us. How many times does it have to be said - this is an extremely tight league?

Agreed. It's still in our own hands. 2 wins from anyone now and it's huge.

I wonder how much silky flowing football the other 3 games provided? You rarely see much of that in the closing games of a season unfortunately. There`s too much at stake.

Nothing to do with the closing games of the season - we’ve been playing like this for months - well at least since he bombed Turner out of the team.

That Ayr team was cobbled together, they only signed their goalkeeper this morning. So cue Pars to turn up and only play for 10 mins or so . Why didnt we go for the kill after taking the lead. No, sit back and invite them on to us. That`s why we have taken TWO points from last five games. Interestingly ,Inverness have made up ELEVEN points on us over the same period.

That`s where a negative defensive approach gets you.

Of course it is. Every permutation of outcomes are still possible. We could make the play offs and go up, we could make the playoffs and not go up or we could miss the play offs completely. Make the playoffs and go up and everything is rosy. Miss the playoffs and he will probably be gone.

I do not think it is too much about anything to do with the season closing , it is more to getting the players to believe in their ability but I haven`t seen much of this for a long time most of the time we look sorry for ourselves , actually I might be wrong there as I have seen glimpses in some games where we were playing Hearts at home , ICT at the start of the season , The Raith game at home ! why are these players not showing the same skillsets now ? what is more annoying about today is we were playing a weakened Ayr team , for me that was a really good chance to get the 3 points
But like many times this season when we get the chance we do not step up and take it , trying to stay positive but that today did nothing to Instill any positivity in me

A draw isn`t too bad, especially so given we`ve taken nothing at all away from home for quite a while. Fair enough result as well, both sides had spells when they looked slightly the better of the two but there was very little in it.

The first half wasn`t exactly thrilling football, but I found it quite interesting and OK to watch. The second half was utterly terrible. Conditions were difficult with a bumpy pitch making football on the ground difficult and the wind making it hard to play in the air as well.

Anyone have any thoughts on what Aaron Comrie is being askied to do just now? For me, the reason for his relative success in his time with us has been that he`s been able to do what he`s good at, just being the unspectacular full-back. It seems that recently someone has told him that he has to try to play football and I`m really not convinced it`s working for him. First half he seemed to be much further up the park than you`d expect and I don`t think it worked. Not really much advantage to us from him getting up there and it left a big space behind, meaning that Ayr were able to attack down that side with some success.

Ayr`s goal came from that position - I can`t remember if he was back there or not for that one, but there were other times in the first half where they found space in that position simply because he wasnt there. Twice in the second half he got caught in an awkward spot out wide and should have just put it out for a shy, but both times tried to play his way out and both times gave away a free kick in a dangerous position. He`s a player who will always give you good, honest work, but I feel bad for him at the moment as the way he is being used is making him look a poorer player than he is.

I wondered about Aaron Comrie today again as well
caught out of position a few times , too far up the park , the quicker he gets to play his natural game the better as when he is playing his normal way he is Mr Reliable !
I don`t know if anyone remembered Heart`s would win the league today !!
Needed Raith or Dundee to win to stop it ! At times they were just as ordinary as any other team so probably overall best team out of a bad bunch this season !
Well done to their players but I cannot stand Neilson

folk having a pop at o'hara as usual but is he not close to being our top goal scorer despite the awful service. If o'hara played for dundee or the rovers he'd easily be over 10 goals or even 15 goals

a draw was a fair result as both teams looked totally devoid of anything resembling football, what i mean by that is the ability to get the ball control the ball and pass the ball and if possible pass to a player playing in the same coloured strip and in most occasions are also in the same team as yourself and by making the ball a round shape should help enormously to achieve most of the above especially when you are paid to do this and you feel you have the adequate skill to be considered a professional footballer at a decent level.

now having watched most of the games this season apart from maybe 3 games the players in this Pars team have failed miserably to achieve enough of the required elements listed above to consider themselves to be a football player at anymore than a mediocre level, that level unfortunately is not going to get our club to the position required by the board (hopefully) and more importantly the fans.
ok to get serious most of the season has been torcher to watch and while we have seen glimpses of what these players can achieve something is also missing, in
fact in 50 years of watching the Pars this bunch are right up there with the worst Pars teams ever to have pulled on the famous strip and there has been some dross but to be fair they were probably playing for a tenner and £1 win bonus and if they were lucky a bit of petrol money thrown in.

Not so much of a dig from me just think McManus and Wighton might be a better pairing.

O Hara was comfortably my MOTM, at least for 60 minutes. Willing runner that got us in good positions behind their defence. Also scored a peach last game so why would he be dropped?

Also thought the first half we played alright but the standard as a whole in the second half was abysmal. No gain no loss today, we`ve got the best run in on paper so need to really kick on.

O`Hara has scored 6 goals and Mcmanus has scored 8
and O` hara was on the bench quite a lot
Just been checking the upcoming fixtures and it absolutely Imperative we beat Dundee , no other result is really of much use to us ! beat them and we are within a couple of points of them ! then they have ICT after our game and then Raith
So if there was ever a time to put a run of wins together for us it will be starting on Tuesday night ! Even though I have seen a lot of crap from us most of the season I will stay positive till it is Mathematically impossible to get into the top 4

Under normal circumstances that is normally a decent enough result but the position we are in we need to be winning. It's another week of relying on other teams to try and bail us out instead of taking control of our own matters.

typical championship game towards the end of the season on a poor pitch, take the point and move on to Tuesday with the chances of a top 4 finish still in our hands.

"Ayr`s goal came from that position - I can`t remember if he was back there or not for that one"

Comrie wasnt but the problem imo was Gaspuitis diving in needlessly trying to knick the ball ahead of the forward which seems to be a habit of his.

I got the impression that Gaspuitis had been told to get forward at any opportunity - presumably capitalising on his height, and probably because he almost scored with a header in the Hearts game. But, just like Comrie, he kept finding himself out of position and having to concede needless fouls. I find myself pondering. If someone as useless as me at setting up formations can spot things like this then what is SC’s excuse?
