I remember turning on BBC Grandstand one Saturday morning in January 1965 to discover there was no sport on. Instead there was live coverage of a ruddy funeral, in this case the state funeral of Winston Churchill.
However a reasonable balance was struck: all that day’s football matches in the UK kicked off at 3pm per usual, and David Coleman manned the teleprinter come 5.45pm. Normal service had been resumed. No Pars game that day due to an icy pitch but John ‘Yogi’ Hughes netted five for Celtic in an 8-0 demolition of Aberdeen.
Before TV money dictated the times of matches, not even a state funeral was allowed to infringe upon the sanctity of a Saturday 3pm kick off.

Correct decision to change the times. In fact, there is an argument to postpone all matches as a mark of respect.

It’s not often you get to have a laugh at both of the two cheeks raging but today is one of those days. Their game that was supposed to take place on Saturday afternoon has been moved to 3 on Sunday and they’re both spitting feathers about it lol.

Is this the elderly gent who was racist to people from China? Apparently he also told people who he didn't like to f*c* off. I wonder how much the family want for his old white Fiat?

Rangers, in particular, have a right to be annoyed. After all, nothing got delayed or postponed when they died.

Auld Par. Without a doubt the best comment I have ever read here. A laugh to start the day here in Oz.
