As we are less than a month away from season end does anyone know where we stand with player contracts?

Great stuck with Dom and mcmanus for another season. Just have to hope your there for the 4-5 good games they have.

Edwards and gill the only ones I would keep on. Even Whitaker hasn’t contributed anything this season and assume Murray can’t wait to leave.

Just sitting here drenched in my own negativity!

I’m actually reticent to call any of the players rubbish or average as I reckon they are being hampered by the rubbish that Crawford is doing! I’d like to see them with a decent motivational and tactical manager, I think they’d be completely different and actually show what they can do.

Absolutely couldn’t agree more. He is turning decent players into guys that look like they haven’t kicked a ball in their lives. He needs to go now.

If crawford goes the next manager is stuck with the current set of strikers for at least another season.

I don’t envy them...

How do you come to that conclusion? There was money to spend in the January window but we didn’t, there will be wages freed up from loanees- anything can happen in close season

Some folk want rid of Comrie.... he’s a quality player, hard in the tackle and reads the game well... I predict he will be gone to maybe a team like Killie next season.

GJS93

They said in January there was money to bring a few players in permanently, however, we brought loanees with obviously no big outlay, Wighton was signed on a pre contract, so when I said they didn’t spend money I meant they didn’t spend what was available at the time.

Macdonald and Gaspuitis came in on permanent deals.
Dow and Comrie contract extensions too.

Wighton will be a big outlay, Hearts arent going to loan him to us for nothing.

Realistically if we make the playoffs we will do well. I doubt we will be good enough to go up so I imagine we will work on that basis. I dont think that is defeatist just the more likely outcome

Makes tonight worse if that’s the case playing Wighton on the wing...

From your list GJS93, to be honest I wouldn’t be gutted if they all left without being renewed after the summer. I’d genuinely feel bad for Edwards who has performed well this season but back in the transfer market, would think we could secure someone with more experience and better all round. That being said think he would be renewed in some capacity.

With those already signed up next year we have a core of a decent championship side given the right direction. Big investment needed in the midfield, however.

The last few years have seemed like huge rebuilding jobs.

and people complained we were in that position having to do that, the first year we arent, the complaints are we need to do a huge rebuilding job, mass clear out etc etc

"Big investment needed in the midfield, however"

potentially need 3 signings in there, got to look abroad for options imo and i suppose hope they can get through the new permit process as i doubt many would automatically qualify.

At this level, and managed correctly playing in the correct formation there's nothing wrong with having a forward line of O'Hara, McManus, Wighton, Dow and Thomas. Nonsense to suggest otherwise.

Just signed a 2 year deal. Unless they offer something good id say Comrie is going no where.

Personally don’t understand people saying Edwards has been good this season. He’s really poor defensively and constantly punts the ball up the park, straight back to the opposition. I’d be ok with him as some sort of back up, given he’s still young and likely to learn/improve, but he’s not what we need playing every week, if we want promotion.

I’m not saying he’s the worst player in the team, or even a large part of the problem, but he is part of the problem we’ve had lately. How are we meant to keep the ball/cause teams problems, when he just hits the ball anywhere up the park (or out of the park), rather than looking for a pass? This isn’t even just when he’s under pressure, he just seems to panic when the ball comes to him far too often.

I would give Whittaker another year. He gives 100% and he is still a decent player. Plus he can also coach and hopefully we have a reserve team next year.
