That statement seems a bit ambiguous. Does it apply to all SPFL clubs or just clubs in the Premiership?

Stranraer confirmed it's all SPFL clubs.

I read it as all SPFL clubs.

QUOTE:
As was the case this season, all SPFL clubs will be allowed to make available ‘season passes’ of their home matches, to season ticket holders, through online club channels. In addition, all clubs will be allowed to sell any home game not broadcast live by Sky, on a pay-per-view basis next season.

ParsTV won`t be able to stream when the game is on Sky. ;o)

That sounds good.

I work overseas, but there will be plenty who maybe are not comfortable going to EEP but still want to watch the games.

This Corona still has legs.

That sounds brilliant, it allows fans to go on holiday or to be ill in bed but still able to see games.

Makes sense to continue it onto next season. Even if we get a couple of thousand through the gate, many will still be hesitant and that way, the Pars can still make some money.
I will most likely attend home games if allowed but at least I have the option of viewing away games online.
I’d go as far to say it might be the way ahead for quite some time even when things return to normal.

A different interpretation?

my interpretation of the BBC`s interpretation is they only mention the Scottish Premiership.

the quote I mention above from SPFL website clearly indicates all SPFL clubs.

LA’s link to the bbc site is from their dedicated Premiership page so probably the reason that only the Premiership is mentioned.

That would be great if it was all SPFL, sometimes I’d rather watch the game on telly rather than go (cos I’m antisocial)

This is great news because there are a number of away games in the depth of winter which I wouldn`t otherwise bother with -- but quite happy to pay QOS TV some revenue to spare me a trip down the M74 in the snow over Beattock.

Probably a silly question but could the club show live away games in their hospitality suites?

Brilliant idea.

Not that you are, in fact, brilliant, but the idea is.

Fantastic news for UK-based fans who can`t make EEP every match or who are unable to travel to away games.

A very practical and sensible decision.

Surely it can’t be cheaper to stream a game than attend in person? Otherwise the numbers in the ground would drop like a stone.

This is great for our more distant fans but could be disastrous for attendances - especially on a cold and wet windy afternoon in the middle of winter and a team going through a bad spell - could be a huge drop in away fans at grounds.

I too would worry about away crowds falling drastically if all games are streamed. For now, I suppose it`s up to clubs what they do and presumably they won`t be compelled to stream their home games but, if we get to a point when fans can be in grounds as normal, I`m not sure it`s viable to also offer streaming to everyone at a reduced cost.

A possible alternative is to use streaming income to subsidise prices for those who do want to attend. Effectively, make it cheaper to attend in person than to watch online. That doesn`t seem quite right either, but if it`s going to cost much more to go to an away game than watch online, there will be problems ahead.

I`m not sure about the economics of this. Clubs will lose the ancillary income from fans watching at home rather than attending the match - programmes, catering, raffle tickets, merchandising, etc

At the moment it seems to be only for next season but, if it becomes popular, I can see pressure being applied so that it becomes a permanent feature.

I know that this won't please everyone. Charge fans who buy the stream more say £15. Our season ticket holders possibly would get it free. I wouldn't make a bought stream too cheap or many fans won't go to live games. If we make a stream too expensive away fans won't buy, but setting a realistic price teams like Inverness or Queen of the South will pay rather than travel.
This streaming idea will also be great for those of us who go season time holidays. Personally we have holidays booked and wasn't sure if I would buy a season or buy game by game now I don't have to bother.
