What a gentleman he was off the field and a Lion on the field .
Used to go up watch the pars training with my daughter who was 4 and he always came over and chatted to my daughter ,so much respect from me

Affectionately known to Sir Alex as "The Ballingry Bat", his version of the Louisville Slugger. Altho captain Wullie Miller stated it was because he looked like a bat with his arms outstretched and missing teeth

Big Doug turned up on the rig I work on offshore, all the Aberdeen supporters got photo's taken with him and he autographed them all. . .I missed him as I was at home at the time. . . .gutted.

Mr Rougvie snr, Doug’s father, was the janitor at the primary school in Ballingry and a mate of my late father in law. He was a very friendly, affable and unassuming man. One evening he brought Doug’s medals round so I could have a look at them. Happy days!

Thats right Parfection, his old house is the only building left in the grounds of the old school, Doug would often bring his team mates through to meet his Dad.
