Playoffs are there to win. Well done to the team and Stevie Crawford who surely must have secured his contract for next season after meeting his objective.

Credit where credit is due.

He has achieved the main aim for the season.

League Position brings in considerably more income than one year ago.

Frankly I would rest the team on Friday evening and hope some of our missing players are back for the first play off game.

Our result doesn`t impact on relegation places.

Having won the last 2 games in a row, would you really want any of the missing players coming back in? Keep a settled team IMO

No pressure to win but keep the same team as if we can get 3 wins in a row it'll give confidence going into the playoffs

It's been a roller-coaster journey but the manager and players have achieved pretty much what was expected at the start of the season, based on resources and probable budgets.

My own forecast was 1 Hearts; 2 Dundee; 3 Dunfermline; 4 Inverness, but I just didn't see Raith coming - they've been consistent all season and deserve their play-off position.

We would be a very different prospect if Stevie had Iain Wilson,Euan Murray,Scott Banks and a fully fit Paul Wilson at his disposal.

We can still get 3rd place if Dundee lose and we beat Alloa by at least 2 goals. Apart from getting more money, finish 3rd and we would play the 2nd leg of the quarter final at home.

The bad news is that teams finishing 3rd and 4th have a 100% failure rate in the overall promotion playoffs.

Would be a magnificent achievement to change that statistic.

Well done SC & co.

It’s not been smooth nor pleasing on the eye at times but they have got us there.

As others have pointed out it’s the playoffs and anything can happen, let’s get behind the Pars.

Well done stevie and the team. We've all been critical at times this season, but getting into the playoffs was the objective and we have achieved that, something we haven't managed to do in a few years. Let's see where it takes us. Dundee and raith are not unbeatable by any stretch and we've hit a winning patch at the right time (if we can get the same result v Alloa).

"Livingston?"

As clarified at 20:44, Livingston were second placed season 2017-18.

Having been promoted from League One the previous season as champions - a remarkable feat.

The good news is that both clubs that have gone up from the Championship via the playoffs have stayed up......to date.

GG - Hamilton were runners up in the Championship 2013/14.

No 3rd or 4th placed side has come up.

Hamilton finished 2nd in the Championship in 2014, a point ahead of Falkirk who they beat in the semi-final. They then went on to beat Hibs in the dramatic final.

So VEE is correct, the only other team to win promotion to the Premiership is Livingston, who finished 2nd in 2018 and beat Partick Thistle in the final.

If Raith finish 2nd and then get promoted, they will be emulating Livingston`s feat of successive promotions.

In respect of the SPL playoff system, yes - but as we all know (or should) back to back promotions have been achieved previously by other clubs

As Jim Leishman is quick to remind punters !!!

If our tactic has been to lull our fellow contenders into a false sense of superiority we have done that in bucketfulls. Now for the next phase of our cunning plan. Limp to a no score draw against Alloa and then sock it to them in the playoffs. Job done, super successful season and SC the staff and players are absolute hero`s.

Cheers, VEE. I should have been less lazy and checked that myself. I had an idea Hamilton had finished 3rd or 4th but probably confused them with Brechin, who did the Rovers to come up to the Championship. ☹

GG - it appears you have confused different seasons.

Hamilton were promoted from second place at end of 2013/14, Rovers only missed the relegation playoff berth two points above Cowdenbeath.

The eventual outcome of that scenario is best forgotten.

Brechin went up from 4th place in League One at the expense of second place Alloa in 2016/17, after a penalty shoot out, after two games and exgtra time.

Arguably the best case against playoffs below second placed teams - the Wasps were superior in every stat, finishing 10 points ahead of Brechin - who actually lost more games that won that season.

VEE - I think GG`s reference to Brechin "doing for Raith" refers to Brechin`s win over Raith in the semi-final, before they went on to beat Alloa in the final.

I was at both ties, which were both decided on penalty shoot-outs.

In the end it was disastrous for Brechin, who have never recovered from their season in the Championship and may even lose their league status soon.

Correct Stanza, I had fogotten that Brechin needed penalties in each tie.

It has been all downhill for them after that.

When you look back at the dip in form, it was really when Thomas went off the boil initially then when Dow got injured. Banks unfortunately was the replacement for Dow you would say and not managed to get a run of games consistently.

Always thought we would make the playoffs, but every club has had to over come hurdles this strange season and had their good and bad periods. some managed to get out of them quicker than others but how many have had their two most creative players either go off the boil or get injured and out for the season but still managed to go on good runs?
