Heading to the playoff - Strongest 11/18
Topic Originator: obiwanyouknowme

So now that we are in the play offs I am looking to see who people think make up our strongest 11/18 going into these games. We have 30 players including the young lads and loans.

Here is my 11 and then 7 subs

OFW
Comrie, Murray, Watson, Edwards
Thomas, Whittaker, Henderson
McManus
Wighton, OHara

Gill, Mayo, Gaspuitis, Wilson, Banks, Murray, Dow (If fit and would prob be in my starting 11)

Leaving out
Swinton, MacDonald, Martin, Berry, Cusick, Todd, Allan, McInroy, McCann

Out on loan
Fenton, Turner, McGill

Dow will be out pretty much but agree would be in 1st XI if was fit, so reckon would be McCann added into the 18 if everyone fit for the extra attacking option so that covers all bases really.

I think we will really struggle against Raith/Dundee with the set up used in the last 2 games. With any formation we go with, we need at least 2 genuine central midfielders, so I`d go with:

OFW

Comrie
E Murray
Watson
Edwards

Thomas
Whittaker
Wilson
Henderson

O`Hara
Wighton

Subs: Gill, Gaspuitus, Macdonald, Mayo, F Murray, Banks, McManus

Hmm it's tricky each match will need it's own set up. We have played them both and beat them and been thumped by them.
Hopefully Crawford and Co can choose the correct team for each match.
I was happy with the way the team played on Saturday.
So
OFW
Comrie
Gaspuitis
Mayo
Edwards
Whittaker (or Murray)
Thomas
Mcmanus
Henderson
O'Hara
Wighton

doubt we will see that formation played in the playoffs we have seen in the last 2 league games, left us too open in the middle of the park but needs must at the time and it worked.

Dundee and Raith we will i expect to have different set ups and tactics for, and the full squad available of senior players i expect will see game time if we progress or whoever we play (hopefully both !!)

OFW

Comrie
Mayo
Murray (if fit)/Gaspuitas
Edwards

Wilson

Banks (if fit)/Murray
Henderson
Thomas

O`Hara
Wighton

This is undoubtedly our best team of the players available. I`d take Dow if he was fit though!

Would have Vytas in there just to try and defend against Ashcroft who caused so many problems last couple of games.

wouldn't say he covered himself in glory at the weekend, just cause he is a big lad doesn't mean he gonna win everything or be good in the air.

We need Wilson back for the Play Off games. Not sure we are going to get away with playing Whittaker defensive mid and McManus attacking mid against Dundee and Raith.

Awight Pat!

Whittaker wasn't moving too greatly second half, and will they risk returning players on that plastic pitch?

I would have Vytas in there, mostly because Murray doesn't seem particularly interested these days

I'd have Vytas in there too to combat Ashcroft at set pieces
