 Man City v PSG
Topic Originator: GG Riva
Date:   Wed 28 Apr 18:10

This game surely deserves it's own thread, distinct from last night's CL semi-final, which provided good entertainment in the first half but faded badly in the second. I can only imagine someone spiked the players orange squash at half time.

On paper, this is a fascinating tie, which could go either way. I didn't think PSG would eliminate Bayern but the German side beat themselves in the first leg, with some kamikaze defending. I'll be surprised if there's more than one goal between the teams after next week's 2nd leg. It may even be decided on penalties or away goals.

Hopefully we'll see an entertaining game between two talented teams with a few goals, too. A narrow win for PSG (2-1) would not be a disaster for City and set up a great return at the Etihad.

With the players psg have they will have a sluggers chance but I can`t see their defence stopping the City front men. Sterling, De Bruyne and Foden will rip that back like to pieces. Over the two legs I expect plenty of goals and quite possibly two or three red cards.

TOWK is applying his reverse psychology tactic again, Raymie. It's a desperate attempt to jinx City. 😄

Amazing odds given PSG's attacking talent. Verratti in midfield goes unnoticed but is doing a great job. City slightly fortunate to be only a goal down, but Foden missed a chance he'd normally bury for 1-1.

I think PSG have surprised city by how positive they have been. I’m sure like many, PSG were probably expected to sit in and hit on the break ?

not sure the psg keeper covered himself in glory there but very very difficult ball to defend from KDB. City this 2nd half must had 70% possession easily.

expect City to have the bulk of possession but PSG will be extremely dangerous on the counter attack. I think PSG will score but I think City will edge it 2-1

The fraud was found wanting and it was Pochettino .
Sat on the touchline while the game changed in the 2nd half, crazy decision to take Di maria off as Neymar was offering little going forward, and wasn't tracking back as well as Mbappe staying up the top ,PSG only had 8 defending.

Was only able to catch the last half hour. Seems that I got the best part of the game. Going by that half hour City played them off the park. I had to laugh when the City defender got Neymar booked by doing a Neymar (rolling about after a slight touch). But brilliant control of the ball and interlinking from City. Great to watch.

I can't recall another such distinct "game of two halves" as this in recent memory. I felt City were slightly fortunate to be only a goal down at half time, even if Foden had a great chance to equalise just before the interval. By the end of the game, PSG were very fortunate to have lost by just the one goal.

It's City's to lose now, but with the likes of Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria in their side, it would be foolish in the extreme to believe the tie is already won.

Actually it wasn`t reverse psychology at all this time. I fancied there to be goals and red cards and there will be even more of both in the second leg. There is a bitterness between these two clubs that will be evident next week and it was no surprise to Gundogan in getting some treatment from psg players last night.

At least one red card for each team and a City player, possibly Gundogan, to get an injury that rules him out for the season and the euros.

Hopefully we all in good mood and happy boys and girls to watch the 2nd half of this once we finished playing the Rovers !!

Got feeling Man City might finish the tie off early doors so 2nd half be game management with 2 PSG players loosing the head and seeing red.

Is this a wind up or a fervent wish list, TOWK? Should you not be putting city rivalries to one side and wish City all the best against these Johnny Foreigners? The nearest we have is the wee team and I remember feeling nothing but happiness for them when the halftime European scores came in and they were the only British team on the score sheet.....

Bayern 0 Raith Rovers 1

Has there ever been a more incredible scoreline? I'm sure there will be a few contenders.

City, to a man, were superb. PSG badly missed the threat of Mbappe’s pace, which allowed City to play a higher line

That was a tactical masterclass from Pep and City and TOWK was almost bang on the money - PSG were lucky they only got one red card.

yeh the big centre halfs "tackle" on Jesus could been easily red, Jesus did him a favour by being so quick to get his legs out the way but that could easily been a red.
