 Bring on the Rovers
Topic Originator: Par
Date:   Fri 30 Apr 22:03

We have a good chance here to progress. Last 2 games between us we won comfortably at EEP and they did at Starks.

Going to be a cracking tie.

Aye, let`s avenge that embarrassment at Starks Park with a similar result in our favour. Ever the optimist!

Now is the time to show a massive reaction on Tuesday night.

Everyone, even the Crawford haters, get behind the team and management for this push, give the negative crap a rest for a week or so, get behind everyone for a change.

Some people don’t think he’s the right man to take us forward but no one will be willing us to lose against Raith.

We have to be at our best - nothing less will do & Craw has to get the tactics spot on.

Do I think we can do this...........Realistically - No. The Rovers are far to well organised & slick, I don’t think we can get past them over 2 games.

I worry about Dundee but I think we'll take the Rovers. Think first leg at home might actually work in our favour with our style of play. I'm searching for optimism!

This is a one off tie, Dunfermline v Raith, forget the season so far. We have humped them at home, and they have humped us at home. Means nothing now, it's about the Fife bragging rights across the next two games. On balance, I'm still backing our chances. Just wish us fans could be there!

I could guarantee nobody hates Crawford. Every true Pars fan wants to watch Stevie lift a trophy with us. That doesn't mean they believe he's capably of delivering it though.

This is his real test now. League form doesn't matter, 6 games and we're promoted. Simple as that - and us Pars fans know we always make it comfortable!

I doubt the Pars make it any more difficult than any other club our size. Why do fans always think their team is unique in finding it hard to get over the finishing line when there`s so much competition from other clubs trying to achieve the same thing?

I’d love to have seen Crawford come in and be a great manager, loved it, however I don’t feel he’s capable of taking us forward. Watching our games in the last 2 seasons have been painful and quite frankly utterly boring.

Will I support us through the playoffs? Absolutely, I’ve been a supporter since the 80s in the 2nd division and will always want us to win. However, even if we go up I still honestly think we need a new man in charge or we will have an even more painful season next year.

I think Rovers will be a bit nervous about this tie. When you see their results since they beat us they are not that good. Losses to Hearts and Dundee whereas we'd drawn with both.

Having watched Rovers v Hearts , Rovers were nothing special, played 40 mins with 10 men. Hearts hit woodwork three times missing a penalty in the process. Rovers’ central defender Gent looked really ponderous.

Get stuck in Pars.

At the start of the season we were on fire, in January we hit a slump, which IMHO coincides with Kyle Turner not getting first team games. Whatever happened he is no longer at EEP, In all honesty I think in recent weeks we have looked a far more balanced side since we brought in young Henderson.
I think we can take Rovers and Dundee but I'm an optimist, Either way Crawford ( as did any pars manager has)gets my backing whilst manager of Dunfermline.

Onwards and hopefully upwards.

Well done him. Might get a game in the Championship again if Airdrie can sort themselves out.

Anyway, let's hope we get torn into the wee team next week. No expectations, nothing to lose.

As I see it the pressure`s all on the Rovers as they finished 3rd to our 4th. Can they handle being `the big team`?

Good time to revenge our recent gubbing. If we win out over the two legs, that result at Starks will be history and the bragging rights will be back with us. Would love to ruin their season, like we did 10 years ago when we beat them to the title. Let's put the wee team back in their corner

Don’t think we should be worrying too much about Rovers, we’ve battered them once, they’ve returned the favour and we’ve also drawn.

It will be a tough couple of legs but just need to focus on ourselves, I’d like to think we can get through this one.

Sort out our tactical failings as we saw the last game, we have a chance. Midfield need to man mark otherwise we will get outplayed in Kirkcaldy.

Absolutely.

Another way to look at it is that we've been a mixture of toothless, mediocre and unconfident for seemingly months now and yet we finished only one win behind them both. Imagine if we suddenly find form?

Can't see us going with the attacking formation that we have gone with the last 3 games, Mayo or Wilson back into the midfield with Whittaker and let the 4 other offensive thinking players do the business.

Harsh on McManus but can't see him starting unless it's upfront with Wighton.

Think we all agree need be more solid in the middle of the park and with way Henderson just left of centre and Thomas back to some sort of form, playing 2 upfront for me we would need 2 defensive central midfielders in there.

At the back what central paring do we go for?

Presume Euan will play being captain so Vytas or Watson?

Rest of team prob picks itself for the home game.

No, we only went man for man in the 2nd half when the game was over bar the shouting.
First half our midfield were onfield spectators as they took the p1ss out of us.

Truth is we have a chance as that's more to do with both teams are as inconsistent as each other. Just depends on who decides to put a performance in on the day
