It is so disappointing sometimes to come on here and see the same negative comments from the same person

Fortunately most people see beyond that.

Lot of the let's call it dislike of Dair seems to come cause of the level of club he was at before joining us.

Taking that same "issue" forward to the bookies favourite, who 5 years ago before joining Montrose was guess where..... Broughty Ferry as manager, hardly a high level.

The bookies favourite now has 5 years experience, which is around the same length of time between their ages, so unfair to just say Dair was out his depth based on where he had been before joining us.

But course some folk on here can't accept that

I don’t understand why folk disagree with me.
Jason Dair was the coach and coaches look to develop the team during the week at training looking at the next opponents weaknesses for the next match..... honestly tell me I’m wrong so what does the 1st team coach do?
Just look at our stats for last season especially away games?
That’s not even a negative comment but truth.

Looking at the stats for last season the management team met the target they were set - hardly a disaster.

Why are you so keen on having a foreign manager? You haven`t explained that at all.

Yeh blah blah we just got into the playoffs due to us and other teams playing crap! The football on show was brutal and tactics/subs were awful at times. We need a change.... no ex players who are in management in the lower leagues or over the hill managers... a new team is required to bring a freshness to the team. I’m sure there are plenty of European managers with a good backroom staff that the investors can put forward.

Agreed. Posters use the term "happy clapper" as a calculated insult designed to provoke their target, by implying that they are of low intelligence - a bit like a performing seal clapping mindlessly for fish.

I suggest that any poster using this expression to wind others up should get an automatic yellow card for a first offence and a red for any subsequent offence. I'm all for healthy debate, but not deliberate provocation.

What do other posters think?

I always think the `happy clapper` comment says more about the accuser than the accused.

Back on topic, when SC decided to hand in his resignation he must have known it would put Jason Dair`s position at risk which might have made his decision even more difficult. Maybe he forewarned him of his intentions though.

My interpretation of it is simply that of someone who continues to praise regardless of what is actually going on, a lack of balance in their posts.

Like kids in the playground!

Dair is away. Fairly usual for coaches to follow a manager out the door. Most managers want their own team in.

Now, let's get back to naming the same old names as being potential new managers.

I agree wee eck.

Being called a happy clapper has no impact on me at all. Blaming Jason Dair or Stevie Crawford for eveything that happened this season is reductionist thinking. It is important to step back, look at the landscape and reflect om their contribution to the club in a much wider context.

According to my dictionary a `happy clapper` is an evangelical Christian who sings and claps enthusiastically during acts of worship!

I`m not sure about the religious connotations. Maybe `happy camper` would be more appropriate.

I can't think of any poster who fits that description, Westie. Perhaps you can help me out with a list? (I think "snowflake" is also used as a slightly insulting term, indicating someone who is sensitive to even mild criticism. I'll concede there are a few of those on this site.) ☺

There are certainly some who are not in the habit of calling for the manager's head, or "sack the board" after every poor result/performance. The more reactionary posters feel this is an acceptance of mediocrity, which is just not true. Every Pars fan would love to see our club punching well above its weight every season, as it has managed to do a few times in its long history. Some are aware that the club operates on a tight budget making it difficult to be promoted from the Championship. Once we manage that, the prize money available should help us to establish ourselves in the Premiership. We've been a bit unfortunate in recent years, having had to compete against the likes Hearts, Hibs, Dundee, Dundee Utd and The Rangers, not to mention the teams coming down with their parachute payments, for the automatic promotion place. Although the odd team has gone up through the play offs, it is a long shot.

Maybe next season?🤞

Where did I say that ?

The reference was to a supporter who despite not being happy was going to sit there and do nothing about it, and the reference wasn`t to a " happy clapper" either. A few sensitive individuals on this thread.

The reference was to me not being 100% happy about the end of the season - given, for starters, we hadn`t been promoted - but not in such a state I was ready to down tools and announce I wasn`t going back.

There was no issue to "do something about".

I'm a bit sad for suggesting that posters who go out of their way to insult and/or wind up fellow Pars fans should be given a cautionary yellow card? Fair enough, EEP. You're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree with it. You consider it a laugh and banter, aye OK. So long as those on the, receiving end see it that way, it's fine.

FYI, I've been posting on here since 2006 and in that time I've never had a card of any colour, never insulted anyone and never disliked or reported a post. On the other hand, I've often complimented those who make good arguments and I always try to look for positives, even when they're hard to find.

Does that makes me a sad happy clapper? 🙂

GG Riva, imho you used to be able to have a laugh on this site but IMO it’s all the older generation and includes admin that just go with the rules etc.
If someone has their own opinion and the happy clappers/old snowflakes don’t agree then I get abuse... don’t really give a ****.... but there are many older folk on here now that take it to heart😀😀
Anyway glad Dair has gone and now we have to get the right management in and finally push on.

Throughout my time in .net there have been plenty posters who just won't go away, like an annoying wee dug that keeps humping your leg. They just go on and on saying the same things over and over, annoying the f*** out of everyone then crying when someone tells them to away and ride themselves. Eventually they f*** off and re-invent themselves under another name. Thank God we dont have that kinda situation just now.....

If you're referring to me, I've posted under this singular username since GG seems to have joined. Always love conspiracy threads, who is this new poster?is it X or Y?

So is it happy clapper or snowflake then?
Honestly if you take that as an insult???

Take neither as an insult and neither bothers me in the slightest. But it's a useful marker in all walks of life when reductive, pishy wee badges are applied to people then it's a great sign to not pay attention to them. Woke is another.

If it’s needing spelled out to you then I shall.

The irony in your moaning and whinging on a lot of threads is entertaining. My point is, you complaint about this site, yet you’ve posted on it nearly 2000 times.

Quality of posts = reap what you sow?

If it bugs you that much, take a break from posting?

Fair point well made. Cheers

"GG Riva, imho you used to be able to have a laugh on this site...."

But now I`m a humourless auld git? ☹️

I think maybe I didn`t make my point very well. It`s not so much about whether I, or any other poster, believe terms like "happy clapper" and "snowflake" are insults or attempts to wind folk up. It`s because they get in the way of healthy debate.

Rusty Shackleford puts it so well......

"As soon as you start attributing silly names to people you probably haven`t met then you`ve lost the argument."

"Snowflake is the last roll of the dice from someone who can`t stand their opinion or behaviour being challenged."

I admit I find both terms a bit annoying, even when they`re not aimed at me, but it`s never stopped me posting. I realise some other posters are neither up nor down about their use so I`ll concede that my call for posters to get a card for it is an overreaction. I have occasionally visited other forums and seen a lot worse, tbh.

Anyway, apologies for taking this thread way off topic, something else that annoys me when someone else does it. 😀

None of us know how much influence Jason Dair had as Crawford`s assistant. Some assistants have their manager`s ear much more than others. A source close to the club once told me that the trouble with AJ was that he listened far too much to Sandy Clark. That may or may not be true. Jim Jefferies, on the other hand, paid little or no heed to the opinions of John Potter or Neil McCann - he was very much his own man - allegedly.

It`s no surprise that Dair has left the club, though. As others have pointed out, a new manager coming in will almost certainly want to bring his own assistants in, so Jason probably jumped before he was pushed. I wish him well and hope he`s back in football very soon.

I recall that, when Jason Dair was appointed he had to decide to give up a good job outside football to concentrate on full-time coaching. Maybe he`ll revert to that and return to a part-time role in football.

It`s impossible to say how effective he was as a coach at EEP without attending a training session, a pre-match briefing, a half-time talk or a post-match analysis meeting. Again, it should be remembered that his time at the club was relatively successful.

"snowflake", "happy clapper" - we just need mention of the "Metropolitan elite" to complete the Daily Mail set.

The only posters who talk any sense whatsoever are Socks, GGRiva, Wee Eck and Raymie. The rest of us are pretenders and absolute roasters to boot

For me Socks and Raymie compete for the champions league each year, they've established themselves. GG Riva occasionally has a good run in the Europa. Nothing wrong with that though.

I would say GG Riva is the life and soul of this site, he must be up at the crack of dawn each day trawling the back pages to find something to post, which usually kicks off a healthy discussion. I always look for the input of Sammer, always insightful with a tremendous memory, and Sock, who provides a fair and balanced assessment of the games. Raymie The Legend and 7 Eleven are also excellent at providing their knowledge which comes from their professional viewpoint.
The rest of us are just amateurs with a few trolls thrown in

Cheers, Red Star. If you can supply your address, I'll send you a box of bottles of your favourite beer..... 😉

Rusty, An occasional good run in the Europa League, eh? You make me sound like your favourite Scottish big team. Last time I say anything nice about any of your posts. 😛

Lpf, Socks is in a league of his own when talking about tactics and football in general, but I'm different class in talking mince.....
