He has never lasted more than c.1.5 seasons wherever he has been and a 33% win rate. Very poor choice if appointed.

Lots of people on here waxed lyrical about alloa passing us off the park in the last few seasons.

so here's a question, would you take grant and play that style of football but finish 7th in the league ??

or

take some like levien and play defensive style and more direct, but finish in the playoffs ??

I`d go for success. If we play defensive and get results I`m all for that. It is a massive bonus to watch attractive football and get results but decent football and losing every week will not go down well. Success is the most important factor. I`m sure St. Johnstone fans aren`t complaining!

Never one to waste money on bookies - easiest way to throw away cash. It awfy sounds like Meggle will take temporary charge ( he must fancy it ) with he deciding on tactics and keeping Shieldsy for local knowledge and to continue coaching. This will allow time to sort out a new German manager ( there’s loads available ) but will likely have to be old boys network to get a good one in at the rates we’re able to afford. This will also allow Meggle to bail out if things go teets up 😊. No crystal ball just an idea.

I think if Grant wants to go the passing game in midfield he`ll still have better defenders and strikers based on Alloa`s and our finances.
So it could be an allround better footballing team.
But if he doesn`t get the job I`ll no chuck the toys out the pram

I think I`m 50/50 wi him and Yogi

Wouldn’t be happy with this appointment. From previous conversations with a board member at Alloa they weren’t happy with him and are happy his contract is up. There is a reason he doesn’t last long at clubs.

Over a number of threads,in the last nine days, a number of fans have outlined whom they would like to see as Dunfermline`s new Manager.

Whether they go for John Hughes,John McGlynn,Kenny Shiels, Jim Duffy,Stephen Robinson,Craig Levein,Malky McKay,Alex Neill,Brian Reid,Alan Stubbs,Peter Houston,Danny Lennon,Derek McInnes,Neil McCann,Jim McIntyre: they all have one thing in common. They have had some big success in their careers one can point to.

Of course, some are fanciful and would not consider a Championship club.

Yet the papers keep suggesting Peter Grant is in talks. No one would deny his outstanding playing career. However, we are talking about a Manager who left Norwich City after consecutive defeats; he was sacked by Celtic, left Birmingham City in the lurch to move to Aston Villa who sacked him.He was fired by Scotland, demoted by Fulham, and resigned at Alloa Ath.If he were appointed would he leave us if something better came up?

Of course, it could be that Journalists are reading this very Forum and feeding off each other but surely not.

It goes without saying that unless Dunfermline support someone really nasty (I'm talking previous convictions sortoff nasty) then the fanbase will support them and want them to do well.

Fans will have opinions on whether certain managers will be better suited to getting us up, mine is that Peter Grant would be a very poor appointment in regards to that. I never subscribed to the train of thought that Alloa regularly played is off the park, most opposition managers were quite content for them to pass the ball about there defence and midfield. With good reason seing as they finished last!

I think Grant would be a strange appointment, and I don't think it will happen.

However, he did a good job at Alloa in 19/20 and had them competitive last season - despite them losing their main striker to us.

Maybe he would get O'Hara firing properly and have us playing some good football. Also, the managers who have left Alloa in recent times have often gone on to do well elsewhere.

Maybe see what he can do with a full time squad before judging so harshly?

McBookie have suspended betting after a punter asked to put £200 on Grant, which only returns a paltry £60 with a stake that high. Someone knows something. I hope not, however, and it`s someone with more money than sense just putting a bet on after seeing him as favourite after a few shandies.

Part of Ronny deilas reign. Disaster at Norwich, relegated as part of the coaching set up with WBA. part of the coaching set up sacked at forest, Birmingham & Scotland. Relegated with alloa.

If that’s the best we can attract, our problems are deeper than we think. Yogi would be a far safer option if he was interested.

bannockburn, who or where says only interviewed one candidate? the sun said he was being interviewed thats all, they might not have thought worth mentioning others who were interested or interviewed, being a former player of a certain glasgow club it would be worth them printing it, also in the article most of it was about Barry Ferguson leaving Kelty !

mediocre football???? many on here raved about how his alloa teams played us off the park the last few seasons !!

not saying for one moment he would be a preferred choice btw.

Those folk who are getting so upset at the possibility that Grant might get the job, will positively explode if he does.

I can't see it myself - there has to be a better option out there, willing to come to EEP and resurrect our once proud club. A club with the potential to win promotion to the Premiership and establish itself there.

Kilmarnock are a similar sized club who were in the top flight for 28 seasons until now. That would do me nicely. I think Jocky Scott deserves a lot of credit for Killie's promotion. He practically handed it to them by overseeing a total collapse by the Pars in the final weeks of the season. ☹

Eta. If there's any chance of him going to Parkhead as an assistant, he'll jump at it and I'd be surprised if the BoD didn't know that. He's as "Celtic-minded" as they come.

I think the threat has receded especially after the excitement of the Bookies News yesterday.

There was no announcement against the background of the alleged £200 bet.

What we have learned, in the last ten days, is that our fans want John Hughes or would accept him.

I would fear the appointment of a Manager who, clearly, would be marmite.

A number of West Of Scotland Journalists remain convinced Grant will be going to Celtic.

I look forward to reading Ross Hart in the "Dunfermline Press".

I applaud the time the Board are taking this time.

My own preference is Stephen Robinson.I would push the boat out to get him.

Are you at liberty to divulge the name of this publication, so we can ascertain the chances of there being any substance to the claim, Gordi? 🙂

I can't imagine that Ross McArthur, would inform a newspaper about his intentions before a contract is signed, sealed and delivered.

Totally agree. Can’t understand this decision at all. It doesn’t look like paper talk going by Twitter anyway. Lot`s of other teams fans seem to be enjoying this though.

Peter Grant is totally marmite.

Our Season ticket sales need to recover from the last two wretched years

John Hughes HAS been interviewed and ,if the Fans want him ,the Board should take that into account.

To read the English Tory "Daily Mail" talking as if they have an exclusive from Ross McArthur is frankly risible.

Normally Ross Hart "Dunfermline Press" has his finger on the pulse.

Today he reiterates the names we have discussed on this Forum.

However, as the Board have actively been considering this for ten days ,that is very encouraging.

The mistake of January 2019 is not being repeated.

West of Scotland Journalists remain sure Peter Grant will go to Celtic once Eddie Howe arrives.

I would question this marmite figure`s commitment.

While not my choice, John Hughes is,clearly ,wanted by many Pars fans and with Season ticket sales both imminent and crucial,we need a Manager we can quickly get behind.

A statement from the Board,at least on the criteria they are looking for, would be appropriate.

Once a job is advertised people apply for that job and then go through a selection process, some discarded at first level others going through to interview and presentation of their aims.

I would imagine there will be quite a few being interviewed, Grant probably being one of many, so hold fire with the assumption that he has the job.

For him to apply would mean he is not guaranteed a post at Parkhead.

I am sure that the board will be thorough in the search for a new manager.

Anyone else concerned that Peter Grant isn`t someone who the new German investors would want, however they`re currently outnumbered on the board. Would hate if they took the huff and done a U turn.

TTC it could be the investors are the ones that want Grant and its the rest of the board that are unsure, only they will know.

if they arent happy with it, complete the takeover before a decision is made/finalised and then they can do what they want.....in fact happy or not with it, just do it now anyway.

Are you basing that conclusion on a few threads on this forum, SP? That`s quite a quantum leap. What makes you think dotnet is in anyway representative of our regular fan base? It could be, but you can`t be sure.

We have to choose someone within budget and also looks like the board going wuth a new management structure asvin the manager being more involved coaching his team on a day to day basis .I think if this is the case PG is a good choice.

Good luck PG You have my full support and wish you all the best.
