Read this tonight, where a link to Dunfermline and the Isles of Uist existed. I noticed in a separate thread about place names but thought this may interest some historians on Fife, given he wrote some books about the region -and was the last islander to have a house in Vallay.
Vallay is the simply stunning uninhabited tidal island off the north coast of North Uist, with spectacular beaches and a haven for wildlife.
Vallay has been deserted since 1945 when George Beveridge, then owner, was killed in a boating accident. Beveridge owned Erskine Beveridge and Co. Ltd., a linen manufacturer in Dunfermline and was a keen historian, photographer and publisher of a number of books.
