Am I the only person who thinks it is actually one of the most overrated goals ever?

Agreed. If it wasn’t against us, most football fans would agree with you.
I hated it at the time but I can admire a beautiful finish.

Totally agree. In context it was a great goal for engurland but in itself it was only good, aided by Henry's unfortunate slip.

Hendry slipped because Gazza lost him on the first touch - then slotted it away with the second - quality stuff.

Gazza`s goal was a thing of beauty. The pity was who it was scored against.

I always said that Gasgoine played in the top league where as the Scottish defender played at that time in the fish and chip league!

Hendry was quality for Scotland. Won the English premiership with Blackburn a year or two before Euro 96, he just slipped at the worst moment for that goal.

Not sure if it's backed up in goals conceded stats but I always thought our defence was really solid around that time.

No denying Gazza's change of direction wrong footed Henry but no denying the slip helped greatly.

I've read this 3 or 4 times and I still can't make sense of it?

Yeah makes no sense whatsoever. Hendry played for Blackburn who had won the Premier league the year before.

See how opinions differ..............

Gazza`s awareness, quick thinking and skill took Hendry right out, no element of luck involved.

I think it's a joke that Gazza playing in Scotland was a better league than Hendry playing in the EPL.

You got it Londonparsfan. The pundits on English TV always referred to our league as the fish and chip league. Gazza showed up Hendry that day. The EPL now pay the money to attract the best players, its the players from outside that make it great.
