Well Watson, Martin, Dow, Wilson, Wighton all injured, thetrialists the other night you would imagine been told thanks but no thanks. Comrie either resting or perhaps has a knock.

Not just as easy to phone someone yesterday and say fancy a trial game tomorrow in these covid times.

Surprised Matty Todd is on the bench again. Thought Peter Grant would want to give him a run out to assess him in these types of games

I think all it shows today is that signing are badly needed.

Would be interesting to see if any other championship side has a bench as light as ours

Don`t want to get into the habit of losing a goal quickly after scoring but its a makeshift team in a friendly with no height in the team as a result. Stuck the Raith game on for just over a minute until I remembered why I get excited about the friendly games starting every year, go to a couple and then swear I will never do it again. Look forward to finding out who the trialist is today.

I thought about writing, "there is no height in the team apart from ....." but I thought, even on dot net,. nobody would say ,what about Vytas etc. and would realise I was talking about the sum of the team, especially defense and midfield. I was wrong though and will definitely spell it out in future.

It was Pybus - nothing today to suggest he’d strengthen our midfield unfortunately.

Very surprised we are bringing players like Pybus in on trial. We`ll need much better than that if we are to challenge this season. I`d imagine there will be quite a few players coming in this or next week?

that is what is available in terms of free agents up here.

Grant says "hopeful" might be news on a couple of signings at the start of the week.

Dan Pybus would be a good signing for us. Plenty of energy, not afraid to get stuck in. Doesn’t score much but I know it’s something he wants to add to his game.

We love Dunfermline We do!

Didn`t Ian Vigurs say that we`d expressed an interest in him but he decided going part-time was the right decision for him. I was quite encouraged to hear that was the calibre of player we were interested in. I don`t think Pybus falls into that category though.

It’s lucky we’re playing in the championship this year – I’m not sure we’d get out of the Lowland League on these results…

We should have won that by miles – we had most of the possession – but a combination of poor finishing, momentary slackness at the back and an inspired (and lucky) goalkeeper meant we didn’t. And credit to the Strollers – they ran their socks off, rode their luck and took their chances when they came.

We had a very small quad – only 2 named substitutes - possibly the first time a Dunfermline bench has been so bare in 30 years (not that a bench is permitted in the days of Covid). Looked like a flat back 4, a diamond in midfield and two up top.

Mehmet didn’t have a lot to do but kept up an incessant stream of shouted instructions and encouragement. OFW came on at half-time.

Macdonald was back at RB, Edwards LB and Fenton got a shot at CB to the left of Gaspuitis. I’d never seen Fenton in that role, but he looked comfortable.

Paul Allen was at the base of the diamond and played well, I thought. McCann was at the apex, and struggled again. He missed a sitter and when he was subbed off he had the look of a man who thinks he’s never ever going to score. It will be little consolation that Matty Todd didn’t score either, although he came close as well – another brilliant stop from a diving header.

Thomas saw a lot of the ball, and used it well on the whole, less so the trialist Dan (Pybus).

O’Hara and the other Toddy may have the makings of a useful partnership.

As for the goals – we scored when CSS has a throw near the corner flag – it was cleared, Thomas played it through the middle and O’Hara ran on and finished exactly as you’d expect.
The second one was when O’Hara got clear on the left-side of the box and unselfishly squared to give Todarov his first goal for the club.

Defensively we were undone by what looked like a corner routine – played back down the line, whipped in and the centre-back makes a run from the edge of the box; not sure what happened for the second, the boy seemed to flick it over the defender then lob the outrushing OFW.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Strollers compete this season. We’re going to need a couple of midfielders quickly.

Hmmmm, prob like most no seen enough of Pybus to say if he is or is not for us.

42 games in the last 2 seasons ain’t that bad considering the max would be 55.

His goals from midfield would be a concern.

See PG hopes to have 1 or 2 in at the start of next week, let’s hope 1 just ain’t confirmation of Currid as there is still no acknowledgement from us

As weird as it may sound Pybus would've been a good player for us last year, where the centre midfield wasn't expected to have too much creativity or ball retention etc.

He's got a fantastic work rate and is generally quite good at winning the ball back, however his use of the ball is absolutely dreadful. His lack of goals doesn't concern me as a centre mid, what concerns me is his inability to pass the ball, and in a Peter Grant squad I don't see that fitting in.

He isn't a bad player, and in the correct team in the correct role he's actually a good championship player, however I don't see him fitting into our squad.

We missed a lot of chances yesterday - as McCaig’s Tower said their goalkeeper had one of those games where everything seemed to come off for him. The McCann miss though was a shocker - he looks like even he doesn’t believe he will ever score. He looked to me yesterday like he didn’t really know what he was supposed to be doing - is he a forward or a midfield player? I felt for him as he looked absolutely devastated walking round the pitch after being substituted - I saw him 2 years ago (or was it 3?) in a pre-season game at East Fife when he played with confidence and power - a youngster with real promise - now he just looks lost - surely he needs to be loaned out to a team who will give him regular games.

The first game of the season a couple of years ago when we drew 2-2 with Dundee I thought McCann looked really promising. He just hasn't kicked on. Still think there's something there.

He only came off yesterday because he was injured, he had ice on both legs as soon as he came on
