A lovely player to watch who struck passes and crosses with a real `bite` on the old leather ball. Best remembered for two corners: one which allowed Billy McNeill to win the 1965 Cup Final and the other which took Celtic though to the European Cup semi final also converted by McNeill. He was Pat Crerand`s cousin I think and was brought up in the Gorbals, along with him and the likes of Eddie McCreaddie.
Gallagher was a talented player and and only missed out because Celtic could dominate with two, rather than three, midfielders. When he was called on he always delivered. A very fine player whose corners were a work of art, both outswing and inswing with either foot.
