Some chippys in Northumberland don't have sauce it's just salt and vinegar .well they did for the 8 years I stayed down there

What do you do for sauce then? I'm a bit of a conissuer of chippy broon sauce. I've been known to visit chippies, ask to see what sauce they have, and if they try and sell me sachets, I'm outta there

Is chippy sauce (the brown and vinegar mix) not just a Scottish thing? I think down south they just use off the shelf HP / Heinz brown and tomato sauces or yellow label type substitutes - that’s been my experience anyway
