 What today meant to me

Although you might not have been in your usual seat
And might not have been able to get something to eat
It was still great to be back in our East End ground
And hear the fans cheering, what a wonderful sound

I got in the ground early, to be able to take it all in
The players out for their warm-up to a bit of a din
The pitch looked amazing, thanks Kevin and Willie
Would I have missed this for anything? Don`t be silly!

The players up the tunnel for a final pep-talk
Anticipation was rising, I felt the ground rock
Then `Into the Valley` blasted into our ears
I`m sure I`m not the only one who shed a few tears...

The players marched out dressed in black, white and red
So many thoughts and emotions rushing round in my head
I haven`t felt such euphoria since Lord Woolman day
Just to be back at East End to see our beloved Pars play

The team played so well, for their five-one win
What a great first game with the fans back in
Just one problem now, I don`t think I`m unique
I just can`t wait to do it all again next week!

Perfect Ian. I’m sure many of us today felt the emotion when the players came out. Great start. Let’s hope we sell out next Saturday too.

I did get a bit emotional today, how fabulous it was to be back home

Our fans were magnificent today and created a great atmosphere for such a small crowd, well done to everyone who attended

Hearing "Glad All Over" 5 times ❤

Seeing and talking to people I only see at EEP ❤

The Bluebell Polka ❤

I know people are worried crowds might be down as folk have found other things to do on a Saturday but I don't think I'll ever take going to the fitba for granted again

Oh DA no 1 getting all emotional… tbh I was just glad to be back watching decent attacking football and the team were great to watch against a very poor away team… but all looking good.

Managed to get my seat of 15 years today. Hardly got into the match and your team scoring after this long was bizarre. Great match and performance and great weather for it too

Jim Leishman's position as worst poet in Fife might be under threat.

SIF might be on to something here.

I wonder if McGonagall ever crossed the Tay to live in Fife? He could have a couple of descendants...

SIF, how very dare you accuse me of writing poetry? It`s doggerel, pure and simple. More simple than pure, admittedly.

Just for you, here`s one what I wrote 14 years ago for the big man himself:

The Pars` Jim Leishman, M.B.E.?
Can ye believe it, michty me!
He does deserve it, I can assure ye
Gaun yersel, big Jim, ya hoor ye!
