SAFE SPACE SECTION AT EAST END PARK
Topic Originator: PARSpars
Date:   Wed 18 Aug 17:26

Interesting decision by the club here...

"As we look forward to the first league match with no restrictions against Arbroath on Saturday 28th August 2021, we are aware that some supporters may be still want to socially distance.

DAFC will be opening a section of the North East Stand for those supporters who are either Clinically Extremely Vulnerable or for supporters who would like to attend the match but have concerns about sitting in the stands with other spectators.

If you would like to buy a ticket or, move your seat or family and friends bubble for the Arbroath match to the North East Stand, which will be allocated with 2 meter distancing and where face masks are required (unless medically exempt), please email matthew@dafc.co.uk who will allocate you a ticket via email for the match. Please contact Matt by Wednesday 25th August 2021 at 4pm.

Please note that access to this area of the stadium will be offered on a match-by-match basis and, if you are a season ticket holder, you will be required to bring your season card with you to the match as well."

Good idea and initiative but calling it safe space seems a bit much as it implies the rest isn't safe.

Yeh elvis would been better to just have socially distanced space section, its the small things like this the club miss out on at the moment.

Thats the point though, the rest of the stadium may not be safe (for the target audience).

Give it a rest please and see this as a positive, fan based initiative.
As someone who is immunosuppressed I would not have felt comfortable attending a match at EEP without this.
Well done and thanks to Drew Main and the rest of the board. 👏👏

Well done to all involved, I know a couple of guys that were going to watch the season online again. This initiative may let them attend games. Superb

East End Park is a symbol of all that is DAFC.

It's a perfectly reasonable way to name it. Along the lines of "safe standing". The club have got this bang on. Well done

I have been hoping for something like this from the club and can’t tell you how happy it makes me. Been clinically shielding and had real worries about going back to full non distanced seat.

I had been thinking of just trying to find a quiet bit of the stadium to move to but this is much better and Will definitely be making use of this!!!

This is a great decision made by the club to help people in that situation while letting the rest of us return to normality 👏

PARS207 missing the mark again. Who’d have thought it?

Great initiative by the club and hard to understand the detractors on this one.

Very pleased about this decision, both personally and as Secretary of Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters' Club.

Great idea. I’m torn now, as I’m clinically vulnerable I should take up this offer. However this last 18 month has taught me that I love the company of my mates at the football and nothing beats that. Calculated risk I guess.

2500 tested positive yesterday and 10 died from covid so you can’t say it’s safe.

But let’s just see what this is, an initiative that allows people greater feelings of security to come back and watch the Pars when otherwise they might not have.

It isnt, and when you have caught it from naughty word who think it is safe, so don't take precautions you can argue with me. Ive had both jags and it was still very nasty.

I think the BoD should be applauded for thinking out of the box. It seems simple enough now that we've been told about it, but how many of us had thought about it beforehand? Be honest!

To be fair, the first time I heard this being suggested was by someone on this forum a few weeks ago.

But then the BoD may have come up with the same idea at thevsame time - a good idea has many fathers, a bad idea is a b@$t@rd.

Right, so if the BoD didn't come up with the idea at the same time as a dotnetter, that leaves at least two other possible scenarios:-

1. The BoD shamelessly stole the original idea or
2. The poster is a Director in his spare time, away from dotnet.... 🙂

A great idea & who gives a monkeys who thought of it, if it was a dotnetter he/she wouldn’t have been able to implement it so if someone at the club saw a post & flagged it for approval then all’s good

If it catches on they might even need a bigger area!

Of course it doesn't matter who thought of it, but it's a great idea and it's right that credit and praise be given to whoever it was. The exchange between Stanza and I was just a bit of banter.
