Celtic apparently about to make a move for Nisbet and using Griffiths as part of the deal. I hope Hibs don’t accept a ridiculously low offer since Griffiths is part of the deal. He’s worth at least £4mil plus Griffiths.

Now this will be interesting, because there will have to be a cash equivalent set for Griffiths for the deal to be cut properly for us….! Or is that not in the T&Cs….

Surprised Hibs would want Griffiths tbh. It'd be like a guy coming round to buy your 3 year old BMW and offering you a 10 year old Volvo estate plus £500 for it.
Would Hibs benefit from having Griffiths?

Griffiths is still a good finisher, despite some of his off field antics.

Interesting as would suspect Celtic would have to subside griffiths wages this season as he’s just signed a new deal and can’t see hibs being able or prepared to match what he’s on.

Suppose part of the deal for Nisbet could be a verbal agreement that Celtic will loan Griffiths to hibs and cover all or part of his wages.
Hibs would say it's separate and therefore not due us any share.

Hibs will still want to maximise the cash value of Nisbet regardless of what Celtic value Griffiths at.
Hibs get the majority of the transfer fee, any reduction impacts more on them than us.

Well yes, but we still could be impacted negatively but such a move.
Say celtic value Griffiths at £500k - then offer 4m (total transfer value £4.5m). 25% sell on (if that’s what it is) is only payable on the £4m. If it was £4.5m in cash, it’s potentially an extra £125k we could net from the sell on.
Still even in that scenario, we get £1million right enough…just interesting to know what the outcome will be if it is a player + cash deal.

Hibs will minimise the value of Griffiths as much as they can, they want as much cash out of the deal as they can get just like us.
1yr left on his contract for a player that was only kept on a contract for this scenario and Celtic will be happy to get him off the wage bill for a player that is surplus to requirements.
IMO Hibs will only take Griffiths as an add on to sweeten the deal with very little impact on the transfer fee. (He isn’t worth more than £150k at his age, contract duration, reputation etc.)
Nisbet will sell for £4m.

Can`t see Hibs accepting Griffiths tbh, he has had his time there and Jack Ross has a settled squad. Hibs would already have a potential replacement for Nisbet if he moves due to ongoing speculation.
Personally I think Nisbet would be a stupid laddie to go to Celtic. In the past they were heavily involved and doing well in Europe, where players gained massive exposure.
The best move for him right now would be English Championship which could lead to potentially a premiership move. Personally I thought Newcastle would have been Sniffing about him.

Celtic would be a step up career wise and European football every season, only issue is that needs to make sure in having a realistic release clause inserted for future any moves.
Championship level is a step up from Scottish football in terms of physicality and number of matches too, but something I think he would thrive in.

I thought teams had to report when they had covid issues. Hibs haven't done that this week.

Does any potential new deal at Hibs for Nisbet impact our sell on fee in anyway or is our clause in there for the duration of the initial contract length. What he`s actually being paid by Hibs is irrelevant?

Aren`t transfer fees linked to the value of a player`s remaining contract? The better the deal Nisbet gets from Hibs the more a potential buyer is likely to have to pay to compensate them for their loss, so it could benefit us.

Nisbet likes a transfer request and the lower the length of the contract, the easier it is for him to get a move.
On the other side, Hibs have been vocal about wanting to break their transfer record of £4.4m. If he signs a deal, you can bet they'll have a £4.5m release clause.

To clarify, whether Nisbet signs new deal or not, we retain the sell on clause. Wee eck is right - the longer the contract might push up the price. All academic until Hibs sell him anyways.

Andrew283, I said similar to that on another thread. Those 3 must be amongst the worse signings ever. I know we signed some players who carried injuries when we signed them but these 3 cannot even that as an excuse. I have just read that we are in debt to the sum of £8 million. With Grant in charge fans will get tired of seeing our team getting played of the park week after week, and this will lead to a massive drop in fans and income. I just hope that we do not go back into administration.

Exactly. Most people are not accountants and can easily latch onto a figure that doesn't mean what they think.
By the time the true meaning of the figure has been explained (as TRBFC has done on the "Owners' Return on Investment thread) the false interpretation has grown arms and legs and is running around the news bulletins, to the detriment of the club.
