Has apparently asked to leave the club with immediate effect. There are a number of others who are allegedly close to doing the same. Peter Grant has lost the dressing room completely

If his contract is terminated is he not allowed to join another club or would his contract have to be terminated before the window closed?

He wouldn`t be able to play for am SPFL or English club, not sure about the Lowland League, Highland League or Leagues in Ireland and Wales as they might have different Windows. The Turkish window is still open and I think the Russian one? But to join a Scottish or English club he`d have to have left before the window closed.

Just for a minute if we put our concerns over formations to one side.

One of the critical skills a manager must surely have is people management, Grant comes across like he’s stuck in the olden days where you used to get away with treating players like crap and equally players back then were built with a bit more metal to handle that sort of management style.

Football has moved on, footballers are of more delicate souls and management styles need to tailor accordingly to get the best out of them, do I like it, not really but these are the times we live in.

Grant comes across as if it’s his way or the highway, which is fair if his way works but so far it’s been a disaster.

I have to say this has the makings of the most catastrophic managerial appointment I’ve seen at our club and that includes John Potter.

I hope he either turns us around or the board acts.

I thought any free agent could sign with any club outside the window. It may be they have to sign on the basis of officially starting when the window opens but presumably any club could be paying a wage and allowing use of training facilities without actually playing them.

Alternatively, is there not something about signing as an amateur?

after the covid issues and other injuries/illnesses nothing can be read from the line up tomorrow imo, perhaps Thomas was on of those and isnt fit but now this rumour is out there whether its true or not it cant be that.

no matter the result tomorrow the club has to change it, the reaction to this rumour again whether its true or not just shows that.

There is a big difference in a player not happy and wanting to leave compared to a player wanting his contract terminated with immediate effect…. If it is the second option I would say there is a massive problem in the team/management.
We will see but I demand a board Statement to settle this down as we are going to get pumped tomm!

Just a thought but letting player power dictate what happens in a team is the quickest way to cause really serious issues in a club. Oh Dom wants to terminate his contract because he doesn’t get on with the manager - sack the manager, next manager comes in and a players unhappy because he’s not getting a game what does he do? Asks to terminate his contract because it worked for Dom! Then next player and so on and so on! Next thing you’ve got an absolute mutiny with the players that think they deserve an automatic start no matte4 how bad they are playing.

While I’m still very unsure about PG and is willing to give him a chance, we need to know the truth about what’s going on before deciding the sentence.

What an incredibly stupid post. Why would you hope they are true?

I hope that Grant calls him out and punts him. He can take his “talent” that we see every ten games if he can be bothered with him along with his ego. Flatters to deceive, as has done for the majority of his time here. Don’t let the door hit his backside on the way out.

See what tomorrow brings. If we win and this is true then maybe Grant has started to identify the real issues…..

I would hope this isn't true, potentially all just a load of rubbish from a guy whose dug knows a guy who knows a guy.....
But... If he is downing tools because he isn't happy with the management, then that tells it all about the guys character. Get him out the door as soon as possible. Chancers like him have no place in professional football. Big Norrie would have booted him out the dressing room if he isn't willing to play for the shirt.
The players are gonna have to man up, do what they are told, and get on with it. The manager is the guy in charge and they have to suck it up and do what they are paid to do. Going forward we really need to do our homework on players character and desire. Too many losers without any mental strength have had a contract with us over the years

What an incredibly stupid post. You hope one of our best players leaves?

You obviously don't watch the Pars very often if you think he only performs once every 10 games as well. Baffling comment.

However, I would like to add that I meant to say that I hoped the rumours AREN'T true. That typo obviously riled you, probably legitimately. I apologise for that.

To be honest I figured it was a typo.

DBA - ok, apology accepted, I couldn’t understand why that would be.

Still think Thomas has been hot and cold for us, certainly over the piece more cold. Not the first time his attitude called into question. All I’d say is maybe Grant has inherited a few issues from previous that he is now attending to. Always a minimum of 2 sides to a story.

No less than a draw and a decent performance today will see Grant gone anyways, so maybe Thomas will be off the hook.

There’s an article on cows where Grant talks about Thomas and knowing him from Scotland u20’s

I have selected and appointed managers in various disciplines for the best part of the past 20 years. Based on the admittedly brief interviews the above has done on Pars TV and other club channels, I very much doubt that he would be in my consideration for a captain`s role.

And before you come after me shouting and screaming, I am just basing this on my inbuilt instinct... generally, I can pick a problem a mile away!

Whatever the reasons Dom Thomas’ career appears to have stalled, which is presumably why he is plying his trade at EEP. He clearly has football ability- he was with Celtic as a schoolboy- but although he showed promise, he never really established himself at either of his previous clubs. Motherwell and Kilmarnock both gave him his chance but he spent a great deal of time out on loan at lower league clubs. His scoring rate is also low for an attacking wide player although he is well capable of making chances.

This is in stark contrast to Kevin Nisbet who attended the same school although he is a year younger. Nisbet has less obvious talent with the ball at his feet than Thomas but has continued to develop his game and is now a Scotland international. There is probably a fair bit of luck involved in any football career, but Nisbet seized his chance with Dunfermline while Thomas has yet to do so. He is in his mid 20s so this is maybe his last real chance to fulfill that potential.

So we lost arguably our best player last year due to a rumoured problem with with Dom and now we`re calling for the manager and board to be sacked because of a rumoured problem with Dom

Surely there`s more to be known about this situation before judgements are made - if the rumours are even true.

The board clearly did their homework on managers. Whether the decision was the right one is another matter but they knew what they wanted.

Spot on London.
The board didn`t interview him because they were so transfixed with the football he had Alloa playing.
And I`m sure they thought, like a lot of us, give him a better budget and we could be going places here.
That is what they wanted. Whether or not Grant is continually pulling the wool over their eyes and telling them the good stuff is coming, we will never know.

Aye. A message that he’s an absolute roaster. He knows fine well how that would have been seen. Get him out too. Complete poison and thinks he’s better than he is. One good game in ten - and what manager would trust him after his behaviour. Charlatan of the highest order.

Think the main bit for me is when Kai Kennedy looked to be coming off injured and Grant picked Paul Allan instead of a natural replacement in Thomas.

On the flip side, if he has asked to be released from his contract, he wouldn't have been anywhere near the squad today. Would be something along the lines of 'Dom has a wee knock and isn't involved today'

C'mon Ye Pars!

Not going in to further details, but what has happened with Thomas is 100% the truth

He gave the boots to them as a gift; he didn’t chuck them at them in anger or anything.

No surprise to see him on the bench, not got many players to put on there.

No surprise to see him not come on, think it’s the last we’ve seen of him on the pitch.

Don Thomas was one of our better players last season but this year he has not featured another than a couple of games. Not sure what the problem is between grant and him but it would be ridiculous if he has to leave.
I for one will be disappointed

Thomas and Kennedy are probably the best wingers in the league and Grant won’t play them, it’s mental.

In Grants courier interview available today on their website he mentions him and DT haven’t fell out but he was dropped for work ethic reasons. Wasn’t tracking back and says the rest of the team aren’t good enough to carry one player.

Just read that article my only confusion is he brought Dom Thomas on at half time against arbroath and played him in the middle of the park.

why would you do that if you question his work rate or was it a second chance.

Why would you play a winger in the middle of the park Full stop. Another of the unanswered questions in Grant`s bizarre system.

The greatest Par ever, Alex Edwards, made that transition under George Farm. He was an instant hit, but then he was several levels above Thomas.

I think Hugh Robertson, who was essentially a left-winger, also made occasional but valuable contributions from midfield. Edwards and Robertson were both superb passers of the ball.

Moving an experienced winger into playing inside forward was a fairly common switch back in the day. George Peebles, Hughie Robertson and Alex Edwards all made that move to good effect, but they were a different kind of winger to say Jackie Sinclair or Jim Gillespie. Maybe Thomas, who has great footwork, does not see the bigger picture on the park. Alex Edwards had been chipping away at George Farm to play midfield before he was moved there: it’s not clear if Thomas was so keen on doing so.
