 Stuart Arnott(D)

It was with great sadness that I learned last night that Stuart Arnott had passed away. I first met Stuart in the mid 80s, when he was a BB leader. They used the games hall at Woodmill HS on Friday evenings. When I became a match day volunteer for the Pars some years later, Stuart was already doing his bit for his beloved Pars, looking after the Press, the match officials, the hospitality lounges and anything else which he could manage. When the Schools Engagement Programme started in 2014, Stuart immediately volunteered himself for the weekly Stadium Tours, taking groups of primary children around EEP, regaling them with stories about the Pars European exploits in the 60s.

The expression "A real gent" has become a bit of a clichè, but it certainly applied to Stuart. He always had a warm smile and a friendly greeting for everyone and was so helpful - nothing was too much trouble for him. He rarely missed a Pars game, home or away. Many of you will know Stuart's son, Kenny, another great Pars fan, who worked for the club, initially as an electrician and latterly as stadium manager.

My condolences to Kenny and all Stuart's family and friends.

R.I.P. Stuart.

One of the familiar faces around EEP who keep the club ticking over. If it`s the man I think it is, I picture him with a clipboard in his hand.

Condolences to his family.

Didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Stuart personally, but people like this are worth their weight in gold to their community. GG paints a picture of a man of commitment and integrity. RIP Stuart and my sincere good wishes to those who loved him.

Such a lovely genuine man and Pars man through and through.

A great part of our schools Stadium Tours success, nothing was ever any trouble, and he’d go out his way to help.

Never a bad word about anyone, he’d often say he’s seen a few Pars managers.

A sad loss to the toon and the Pars.

Condolences to all the family

Really sad to learn of the passing of Stuart. As has already been conveyed, he was a fantastic ambassador for DAFC in many capacities. I had the pleasure to work alongside Stuart while he was Press Officer at the Club after I joined ParsTV and it was an absolute pleasure and privilege. I was then given the opportunity to work further alongside Stuart on the School Stadium Tours - his stories and the way he told them kept kids of all ages intrigued and educated. Stuart will be a massive loss to everyone who knew him, and I would like to pass on my and ParsTV's sincerest condolences to Kenny, all of Stuart's family and friends. On a personal note, I'd just like to end by thanking Stuart for being the gentleman he was, I loved being in his company and chatting about the Pars. I will deeply miss Stuart around East End Park. RIP Stuart 😢🖤🤍

R.I.P Stuart
This is for your other pastime

The Ode To Golf

In my hand I hold a ball,

White and dimpled, and rather small.

Oh how bland it does appear,

This harmless looking little sphere.

By its size I could not guess,

The awesome strength it does possess.

But since I fell beneath its spell,

I’ve wandered through the fires of hell.

My life has not been quite the same,

Since I chose to play this stupid game.

It rules my mind for hours on end,

A fortune it has made me spend.

It has made me curse and made me cry,

And hate myself and want to die.

It promises me a thing called par,

If I hit it straight and far.

To master such a tiny ball,

Should not be very hard at all.

But my desires the ball refuses,

And does exactly as it chooses.

It hooks and slices, dribbles and dies,

And disappears before my eyes.

Often it will have a whim,

To hit a tree or take a swim.

With miles of grass on which to land,

It finds a tiny patch of sand.

Then has me offering up my soul,

If only it would find the hole.

It’s made me whimper like a pup,

And swear that I will give it up.

And take to drink to ease my sorrow,

But the ball knows… I’ll be back tomorrow

I remember Stuart from the BB, he had a tremendous impact on many a youth from Dunfermline who were members.

Always had a smile and a cheery greeting when I seen him at EEP, as has already been said the term true gentlemen comes to mind when thinking about Stuart.

RIP

Very sad to hear of Stuart`s passing.
I had the pleasure of knowing Stuart when I was in 4th Dunfermline (Abbey) BB.
Stuart was always a friendly, encouraging and supportive officer.
I haven`t seen him for many years but my heart sank when I saw the post.
As many of you will agree Stuart was one of the good guys and will be sorely missed.
RIP Stuart

Stuart was a friend of my Dad through the BBs. Always had time for a quick word with Dad even though he was busy on match days. A gentleman. Condolences to his family.

This is sad news.

I didn’t know Stuart well but the first word that came to mind was “gentleman” and I’m pleased that description has found its way into most of the appreciations published here and elsewhere online. It is noticeable how many have come from other clubs.

I always found him very helpful and welcoming back in the days when I helped out with match reports for dotnet; it was no surprise to hear he was active in the local community and had received the MBE for services to the BBs.

I’m sure he will be greatly missed – my condolences to his friends and family.
