Oh boy! It is the dunce`s cap for OzPar.
I dutifully set the alarm last night and climbed out of bed at 0350 to prepare for the live stream of the match.
I am in the kitchen pouring myself a nice cup of tea when I discover that I am 24 hours too early...
Ah well, at least no one can complain that we don`t have a match thread.

Some years ago (before the days of online check in)my wife and I tried to check in for a flight to Majorca. We were surprised and relieved to see that there was not a big queue at the check in desk for our early morning flight, her sister had got up mega early to take us to Edinburgh airport and drop us off
When we got to the desk to check in the operative at the told us we were a day early, oops!
We had to call my sister in law to pick us up again and once the initial anger with my good lady had calmed I was able to see the funny side, on being collected again from the airport the craik was âitâs like weâve never been awayâ âdosenât your holiday just seem to rush past in the blink of an eyeâ
Luckily we got our flight the next day and had a lovely holiday and a story to tell in the future

Why do we keep punting it up the pitch and taking long, aimless throw ins? When we pass we typically do well but punts up the pitch just result in us losing possession.
Based on this, I expect Grant gone tomorrow. There's fight there but there's no real cohesion in the team. It's a mess.

We cannot go another day with this clown Grant in the manager`s seat. He is tearing the guts out of our team.
The players don`t want to play for this guy. It is so obvious. Who spotted the way Gasputis took a massive swipe at the ball and sent it to no one...? It was the action of someone who is raging with what he is seeing around him.
Todorov and Dow... OMG.
OFW... someone on the Raith TV chatboard summed up the situation at the goal rather beautifully when he described OFW as a hologram...
If it wasn`t just so goddamn sad...

Canât believe how much space Zanatta had had, not once, twice, three times but EVERY time. Even Connelly had acres of space.
Five in midfield and we are still being over run.
Nobody supporting or even contemplating getting beyond TodorovâŚ.not even once.
Kennedy has been invisible.
DT onâŚ.but it wonât make much difference if the manager does not change something.
I have no idea what he is capable of doing thoughâŚ..Same old , same old.
If we lose tonight I would like to see PG go.
If not Saturday at the very very latestâŚ.assuming we lose that too of course.
I know we are bad but I did not realise that we actually lost to Elgin CityâŚ.according to one of the commentatorsâŚamateursâŚ

Zanatta reminds me of Kennedy for them last season, creating space, running at the defence causing problems. He deserves that goal as he has played well tonight. Gutting that it seems we are still very much disjointed and can`t seem to blend as a team. Agree with others todorov not effective tonight needs pulled and Wighton put on.

Todorov plays on his heels and has zero anticipation, no idea how he has scored any goals.
Dow looks shot, I know it was a bad injury and heâs not fully match fit but itâs like a man down. Cole is a luxury player, waste of a jersey for us in our now relegation battle.
Can see why we donât score very often, no quality in our team at all.
Connelly looks the most professional of the lot, at least heâs talking and dishing it out where players are slacking.

We're bottom, still haven't won a game, at no point during this season have we looked like winning a game.
That first half was as bad as anything we've seen all season, we're incredibly fortunate to go in at half time level, in the second half it's better but as soon as we go level we then revert back to looking utterly hopeless and again, only one team is winning that.

JUST TO CONFIRM
Was the aspiration to challenge for promotion? Was it not to challenge for the title?
I genuinely can't believe the mentality that four points after seven games, when you are meant to be challenging for promotion, is acceptable.
If anything the reaction to us equalising should be a clear enough reason to get rid. For years we have just accepted ineptitude as a fanbase, and hear we are again. Is anyone looking at that performance as a whole and thinking "Yep, we're going to start challenging for the title" Anyone, anyone at all?!

You've come to expect that Brian because we're meant to be challenging for promotion and we're in dead last place, have just looked 2nd best to our rivals and I see absolutely no sign of that changing.
If things were positive Brian I'd be positive, but there not, this is absolutely rubbish.

While that was an incredible world class save from OFW his distribution leaves much to be desired. I reckon we failed to win the ball 90%+ of the times he kicked long , with the result that the ball came straight back putting pressure on the defence immediately. Something has to change in that area tactically. It wasnt just tonight , noticed it last season as well.

I prefer to focus on the attitude of the players in the last three games
We are not winning any league this year.
More important things in life
The attitude of the players over the leagues games have been fine, it's the sheer ineptitude of the dugout that's held them back.
We aren't winning the league, however the playoffs absolutely aren't out the question.
However being Dunfermline we'll just settle for yet more ineptitude and write of a whole other year.

Better second half. Wighton was on side. A better performance but Raith looked slick in their movement. Connolly was solid in defence apart from the goal. Subs at half time made a difference. Great save from OFW. Dorrans made a couple of important challenges. Still looking a bit impotent up front. Hopefully confidence is growing

Much better second half and unfortunate with some decisions, but that first half was awful and we could have been 2 or 3 down.
My view is it feels like a good result because it looked like we'd be on the end of a thumping after that first half.
I've got some concerns about team injuries. We seem to be carrying a few and players coming on despite not being fully recovered yet too.

Decent second half, after a terrible first half.
Dow was poor, Pybus should've played the whole game.
Thomas was rubbish, couldn't tell you the last time he played well, yet he is revered like some kind of hero by some fans. Strange

If a keeper kicks long and we do not win it and the defence is then immediately under pressure , I would not necessarily be questioning his kicking or our inability to win possession from the kick.
I would be asking what our midfield is doing ?

Lucky to get the point in the end.
Not the worst result but Iâm sick of thinking maybe this is the game we can nick 3 points from. That first half tactically was stinking from grant. He let them play the ball around at the back and Dow left Comrie on his tod countless amount of times.
I like todorov as a player but Iâm Questioning if having him in the team just messes up any kind of flow we have as a team. Itâs just fire it up and hope he wins flick ons. As soon as Ohara came on he pressed the keeper and we were able to play slightly better, scored and then to my disappointment sat in and took the point.
How many games have we been handicapped by bad tactics and bad player choices now?

Yes and no Indiapar. We had that 20 min spell where we forced our way back into the game and were worth the goal but then we fell out of it again. We should have been a couple down at ht and could easily have conceded again in the last 10.
I thought Pybus and Dorrans did ok defensively but we are not creating nearly enough. Thomas again came on and made absolutely no impression. Not exactly forcing the manager to play him from the start on Saturday.

Much improved second half performance and we did well to score when we were effectively down to 10 men with Dorrans really struggling to walk with ankle injury. Had he been fully mobile I feel we could have pushed on more but thats the breaks we are getting just now.
Marginal decisions also not going our way with offside goal and what looked like a second yellow for Rovers player on Edwards.

A good point after a woeful first half. Goodness knows what our midfield were doing in the first half; they weren`t supporting Todorov and they weren`t pressing the Rovers midfield. We have a terrible habit of standing off opposition players instead of putting them under pressure, especially around our box.
Unbelievable double save from OFW and skilful finish from O`Hara; crucial calls from officials went against us. Connolly is more vocal and demanding than any of our other CBs I think.

Probably a wee bit lucky to get a point from that, and I`m pleased that we did get something from it. An even start to the game but after going a goal down we were terrible beyond belief up to half-time. Second half was better but even when we had spells on top we didn`t look especially like scoring so it was something of a relief that we did manage to get that goal.
Tactically, the first half was disgraceful. Our shape looked to be 4-1-4-1 to me, with Dorrans sitting noticeably deeper than the others in midfield - a bit of a surprise as I expected Pybus to be sitting deep beside him but he was noticeably further up the park. It was clear very early that it wasn`t working, and our setup made an erse of our full-backs, Comrie in particular, who were left ridiculously exposed. There must have been about 7 times in the first half where he was left defending 2 on 1 with no cover at all. One time it was 3 on 1, and it happened at least once on the other side of the park as well. The wide players looked like they were trying to play as auxiliary forwards, but set up like that they have to give defensive cover as well and it was massively lacking. The Rovers did look good and they moved the ball quickly to be a genuine threat on the break. But, you have to see what`s happening and counter it and we just didn`t do that.
We looked better in the second half and at least managed a few spells of pressure. Probably a combination fo the change in shape, just playing a bit better, and the Rovers being quite happy to sit in. We seemed to give it plenty of errort but just couldn`t quite manage to play as a coherent team. The sort of thing you expect when a team is on a downer after a poor run.
After we equalised, we were hanging on. Dorrans was sturggling with an injury which didn`t help and it was back to the play of the first half as the Rovers looked to attack once again. And once again, we were cut open through the middle and looked very vulnerable to fast breaks. Looked a great save to get us a point from the far end of the ground.
I`m not happy at all at how we were set up and I`m not happy at how easy we were to play through. Even simple things were just wrong - how many times did the Rovers have a shy and manage to easily retain the ball from it with no pressure applied? That just shouldn`t happen at any level of football.
However, I really am happy that we got a point from it. Having taken something from a game with a latish equaliser, it just feels different going into the next game.

Awful in the first half and ok in the second half.

Lucky to get a point. First half was absolutely atrocious, couldnât hold the ball for more than 10 seconds and the pressing didnât look organised whatsoever.. rovers were just knocking it about for fun. The goal came from Dow pushing forward, then comrie went forward aswell leaving absolutely nobody in the right back area.. schoolboy stuff. Must have tried about 100 high balls to todorov & he never got his head to a single one.. when he went off we started playing into feet and it worked for a while.
A decent 20 minute spell isnât enough when youâre bottom of the league Iâm afraid, we need wins otherwise the gap between us and even the teams in 4th & 5th will soon be too big to claw back. Last night done nothing to change my mind that grant isnât the man for the job. No win on Saturday and he should be punted.

First half absolutely awful and lucky it was only 1-0, set up was completely wrong and got exposed by zanatta the whole 1st half. 2nd half when back to 4-4-2 and a bit of pace upfront and we looked decent, but was just disappointed we never got another chance to get the win. Result in the scheme of things isnât really good enough but if we play how we did 2nd half on Saturday Iâd be hopeful enough to get a win.
If rumours are true of a falling out with Watson, then itâs very worrying that players keep falling out with the manager and obviously something very wrong behind the scenes. Fail to win on Saturday and I donât see how he can get kept on tbh

Before the game I suspect most of us were anticipating a tanking. Despite being outplayed for 2/3rds of the game we got a draw. Raith managed 3 shots on target. We managed one and had a goal chalked off for a very marginal off-side decision. If Wighton was offside I don`t see how he gained any advantage from it but that`s the rules. Rovers fans are no doubt wondering how they didn`t stroll that game.
Instead of celebrating an unexpected point we`re still lamenting the poor start to the season and dissecting all our weaknesses. We`re unbeaten in three games, a couple of them against two of the better sides in the league. We`ve cut out the schoolboy errors but confidence is still low. Things aren`t going to change overnight and I don`t think there`s going to be any imminent change in management. Let`s just take one game at a time.

That's something in that...
Been reading for a while on this site that the last two games we just played were going to see us getting pumped as they were the better opponents in the league.
However with a change to our tactical approach (plus a few in game tactical tweaks), we've actually drawn them both; conceded one goal across the 180 minutes as opposed to the barrowfull that was forecast.

I guess, for the "half-fullers" in our support, we were both leaking a lot of goals - and bad ones at that - and failing to score.
Now, at least, we`ve tightened up at the back. The challenge is to create more going forward. Not sure it`s going to happen but I`ll be happy to be surprised - as I was yesterday when both Wighton scored (albeit didn`t count) and then when O`Hara did likewise. I`d basically written the game off when they scored early.
Also, from someone at the game, we maybe need to cut some slack over our performance once it went to 1-1. I realised Dorrans was injured but apparently he could barely move - so we were essentially trying to hold off the Rovers rally with 10 men. Ironic as they should have been the ones enduring that.

So is what you're saying we need better strikers and more creative players...
If so then I agree, I've watched us a few times be through 2 against 1 or 3 against 2 and we can't seem to make the final pass to create an opportunity... And when we do its straight at the keeper

That was a team set-up to not lose the game and buy the manager more time.
Ultimately Raith taking the lead and the 1st half display has forced him to alter his plans. The change in personnel, formation and attitude ( different work-rate 2nd half for me) has brought about a much improved display and got the manager some breathing space till the weekend at least.
It`s irrelevant what sort of spin you want to put on it, the table at the end of the season is all that matters ( unless you`re Hearts or Partick). After 7 games however I can`t see though how it can be viewed as anything other than grim.
On another note, at half-time I watch as the substitute keeper is always put through the whole repertoire as the raith sub goalie was last night. Mehmet ( not his fault necessarily ) however spent his half-time with the other subs and one coach playing a game of one-touch. Surely we get a non-selected player to fire a few shots/crosses under instruction from the goalie to keep him warmed up and get his eye in should he be needed, seems amateurish.

The league table is grim - no doubt. The situation is slightly less grim than it was after the Ayr game, however.
"So is what you`re saying we need better strikers and more creative players..."
Not entirely. I think Kennedy, Dow and Thomas all have more than enough ability to create chances in this division. Wighton is also good enough to lead the line.
Not convinced about Todorov, never have been.
O`Hara is an odd one. If you give him a chance where he`s got no time to think and has one-touch, he`s pretty lethal. He`s got bags of pace and looks menacing when he comes off the bench and harasses a tiring defence. When he starts, he`s often a total ghost with a tackle for a 2nd touch.

We went there last night rock bottom, having scored a mere 3 goals and apparently with some players not fully fit.
Add to that our last four games at Starks were 2-0, 5-1, 2-2 and 3-0 and you really expected us to set up gung-ho and risk another doing?

The original line up was not pretty negative - he played a 4-4-1-1 first half and a 4-4-2 second half - Not a great deal of difference. The personnel changes made more of a difference than the formation.
You don`t like the manager and you have made up your mind, so it`s hard for you to be objective, possibly?

I guess saying things like he set his team up to buy more time could be read as that was all that mattered to the manager.
Whereas in all probability he set the team up, in his opinion, to get the best possible result , and when the game plan failed , he changed the system.

The management team are only human. They`re under tremendous pressure after the 3 bad losses at the start of the season and are clearly trying to shore things up first and foremost. The 3-month loan of Connolly is absolutely evidence of them fire-fighting.
It`s also true to say that when we managed to get in at only 1-0 down, they had to change things. I doubt it would have made any difference to their future prospects if they lost 1-0 or 3-0 last night.

In both the pre-season games in Edinburgh we lost late equalisers in two-each draws. In the Spartans one OFW went absolutely mental, shouting at his defenders and then carried on, into the goal, after the final whistle. He was furious.
At the Civil Service game Mehmet, having been asked to do nothing of note during his half, didn't look remotely bothered.

I agree. You have to separate our league position from the result. We would have been happy with a point at Starks Park even if we were near the top of the league. I like the look of Connolly. He will strengthen the defence and give us a bit more confidence. No wins yet but no losses either. I think we are turning a corner personally and the wins will come. There is still alot to play for. We are not league champion material but playoffs is still achievable.
