Will be the first of a few I reckon unfortunately.

I'm quite heavily involved in women's football and a lot of teams are struggling just now at all levels too.

C'mon Ye Pars!

That's a shame, and rather surprises me - I would have thought with the increased exposure of women's football this should be an opportunity for clubs to grow.

I know any club at this level also needs facilities and dedicated volunteers to organise things, and I wonder if the new DAFC owners might be interested in integrating the men's and women's clubs as part of their commitment to the community?

Thanks for sharing, Buffy.

I’m not aware of the circumstances behind this, but at face value it’s really not a good look. Female football (all ages) is the current primary area of growth for the game, and for a club like ours to fold its senior women’s representative side…feels short-sighted and contrary to the direction society is moving.

And I doubt it would happen in Germany.

Both my granddaughters are involved in the Raith ladies set up and they are loving it!

Raith have teams at all age groups and seem to be very well organised.

I agree with Stanza: whilst this is very disappointing news in the short term, it is also an opportunity,

Just to be clear, whilst affiliated to DAFC Ltd, it is an entirely separate undertaking. This gives, perhaps, an opportunity for Dunfermline Athletic to re-launch a senior ladies team under the direct ownership of DAFC Ltd, with considerably more investment. It is clearly a growth area, and should be viewed as on a par (all puns intended) with the men`s game.

I don`t know the reason but the club were forever advertising for players, I would imagine lack of numbers would be the most likely cause.

Thanks for clarifying, TRBFC - I had always been of the impression it was run by the club. Quite possibly an opportunity emerging to re-start it in-house, as you point out.

I have no beef with womens’ football, however it’s not on a par with the mens’ game.

Good for community and social interaction.

I enjoy watching the ladies play.
They get stuck in, show plenty skill and don't roll about the ground wailing like pussies when they get tackled.

The problem that we are now having in the Scottish woman's game is the same as in the men's game. That is the 2 bigot teams are now throwing money at their woman's teams. The others will not have the money to compete.
