 Pybus and Allan
Topic Originator: nick_dafc1

Partick running right through the middle of them when we don't have the ball

In possession they constantly give it back to the centre backs of have no option but to launch.

They may work hard but they don't contribute defensively or to support the attack.

Dire combination..

Not sure how you can judge them. Every ball has been over there head. Hoofball, every time we get the ball it’s launched aimlessly long.

It's launched aimlessly because they don't show to take the ball

Disagree with that. Tactics were clearly to play long. Defenders didn’t once try and play short into midfield until Wilson came on.

That's because Wilson can actually play midfield and handle the ball. What's the point in the defenders passing into the other two when all they do is give it back to them.

Both lads are still young and learning, we had a young lad few years back very similar to Allan everyone slatted him for lack of tackles and work rate he got the punt and now in the starting team every week for Dundee. Give the young lads a break.

What an absolute shambles of a comment. Pybus ran his backside into the ground once again. Never gave up. Young Paul Allan every time we had the ball was looking for it. Today we were playing against a side who were full of confidence and I for one thought we played really well. It’s comments like this that annoys me. Instead of slagging them off How about supporting them. I at least hope you were at the game

Pybus had a decent enough game I thought. Done enough to convince me, there might be a player there. In saying that, I think Wilson might save our season.

Isn’t Paul Allan a local lad?

Been told that he used to sit in the Norrie Stand as a fan.

Wasn’t at the game today but thought he did well last week standing in for Dorrans.

It's hard to say how much of a game plan it is with regards to playing it long, and how much it's down to the players... Certainly we looked to play it shorter when Wilson came on, but with three in the middle there was also an extra man.

I certainly think our middle two can show for the ball more, especially Pybus who for all his hard work didn't achieve much.

Doherty and Bannigan were in a midfield two so it wasn't like we were outnumbered either.

What a shambles from you. Your easily pleased. The minimum they should do is work hard.

Carry on with them two and we will be in League one. Wilson and Dorrans will be first choice when fit.

And yes I was at the game.

K76 yes he is a local lad both him and his Dad are life long Pars supporters and comments like these from Nick will go a long way to help produce young local talent.......NOT

You weren't at the game so I think you should stay out of commenting about their performance today...

Why don't we just get 11 local lads regardless of ability. That will end well.

10/10 for effort from both of them but they hardly contribute to our play.

On merit according to Peter Grant who is useless.

Mehmet, Graham, Jones, Pybus, Breen, McCann, Todd also part of this Peter Grant squad tumbling towards League one.

How do you these two link up the defence with the wide and attacking players?
They don't and we struggle to create chances and score goals as a result.

Lol I would rather an other but with what p*** poor options we have in centre midfield it's a struggle.

I agree that when I watched the game today, whenever the ball came near pybus or Allan they never actually showed for the ball once, hence why it was constantly punted. Only when Wilson came on, we did start playing into him in the midfield and looked a bit better. Wilson must start on Tuesday night

At the game today, judging by some of the comments 90% weren`t.
The midfield duo of Pybus and Allan were bypassed most of the game as the long ball was being used which is no good to us as no one to hold the ball up. Young Allan in only his 3rd start looking for the ball everytime as well as Pybus.
In my opinion and a lot on this forum thought Allan was a tad of MOM last week
and yet we hear the same people calling for Dorrans to be back in. Was it not long ago these same people were screaming at Grant to get him tae Falkirk.
Those who go to the games should comment on the games . Yes we need to start winning and winning Quick but is Dorrans the answer.

I actually thought Dorrans was becoming more influential as he gained match fitness. PG explained that, having come from Australia and missed pre-season training, the only way he could get fit was by playing. Once he got injured Allan got his chance. Like most young players he lacks consistency but he shows promise. With Wilson back in contention and Dorrans hopefully available soon there won`t be such an onus on Pybus and Allan. Cole seems to have fallen out of favour at the moment.

Cole is a total luxury player, pointless for a club fighting it out at the bottom of the league another grant signing who ends up a benchwarmer while last seasons bench now fill the first team and we wonder why the team is sliding.

Pybus works hard but you need a wee bit more at this level, Allan getting a game purely because there’s no one else after a summer of signing duds to play in a 352.

Pybus and Allan won’t let you down in terms of effort but thw flip side is they won’t get you up the league either.

Agree, a very good technical player who joined the club 4 years ago and is only getting a game now due to injuries to other players who have been garbage so far this season and the fact grant prioritised signing a load of centre backs over putting together a decent midfield.

He might turn out to be decent as a partner for a better more creative player and you can say that about pybus too but as a midfield 2 you can see why we’r3 not looking like winning many games.

How are we unbeaten in 4 games?

Apologies forgot about QoS so one defeat and four draw.

5 games...1 defeat and 4 draws, that's positive for you? if you don't think that is relegation form your clearly deluded.

Apart from the Killie game we have been guff in the other 4 games.

Let's keep Pybus and Allan in midfield, they are amazing, bring so much to the team. Let's get them on new deals incase bigger clubs come sniffing.

Guff 🙄🙄🙄. I'd think most teams would be fairly happy playing GUFF and getting a point.

Would they be fairly happy playing guff for 9 out of 10 games and getting 6 points 🤔

Your negativity is draining me, I feel so sorry for people who have to speak to you in the flesh.

I will be positive if there is something to be positive about.

I'm being realistic, you're living in cuckoo land, maybe you can lend me some of the pills you're taking

Realistic and negitve are completely different, the tablets you need are different to the ones I've got 😏😉

I like Paul Allan, there is a good player in there, and hopefully he can develop with someone in midfield with him, like Wilson, who can protect him and let him play.

Can I ask - what do folk see in Dan Pybus that I’m not seeing? I watched the likes of Mason and the work they did off the ball, so I’m not buying that it’s the stuff you normally don’t see with Pybus. I just see someone who runs about a lot, with little to no positive end product. Any attack through him gets slowed or ends, he doesn’t shoot, and often gives the ball away.

Ultimately what I would give for this team to have a Draper or Vigurs in centre midfield. We do need an utter b’stard in there to boss and bully when needed. If we’re going to play attritional football, let’s do it properly!

I agree Ross, Draper is the player we have been crying out for for years. Think he might just be a bit past his best now unfortunately, with injuries catching up with him. We really need a midfield enforcer to let the others play

I can’t help thinking Pybus and Allen sounds like some sort of Musical Hall act from the 1950s.

I’m a fan of Paul Allen – and have been ever since I first saw him play in the Youth Cup – thought then that he could be a very good player in the right team, although better defensively rather than offensively so I was a bit surprised by Socks’ critique of his performance v Killie. I wasn’t at Firhill yesterday so I can’t comment on that performance, although he looked decent on the highlights…

Pybus I was less a fan of, but he’s growing on me – most teams need a couple of grafters – the sort of unsung hero who is always there as cover or to help out. Perhaps he can become one of those.

I was thinking though, if we had punted PG after the Ayr game where would we be now, assuming that a new man (or woman – would the Pars support tolerate a woman? ) started right away?

If I were taking over a team bottom of the league, leaking goals and short of confidence, my first priority would be to make them/us difficult to beat; pretty football could come later. Six games later, we’ve lost one. Would we have been better off under a different manager? Impossible to tell.

Ayr sacked Hopkin when they were winless, they've done alright.
