 Grant Post Match

Copied this piece from his post match interview, was at the game tonight and the Killie game. I know Dom and Ryan are wingers but and I missing something here

“I think the two wide players played exceptionally well, especially in the first half when we got into really good areas of the pitch. I thought that we should have fed them more in that period because they picked up fantastic areas to get the ball. We didn’t do that well enough.

What wide players, they seem to play too narrow when anyone can see that the flanks are crying out for width 🤔🤔

At one stage there was a gaping hole where Dick should have been protecting. Thomas was about to fill that position as is natural for him, and was directed from Grant that he had to come inside, which we did. At the time Thomas had a couple of runs from deep taking on players successfully, but the issue is that there is no support of those runs, so unless he could start those runs 10 yards further up the pitch for his own pop at goal, he would likely be crowded out.
The team just didn’t look confident or cohesive. Like maybe they just met in the changing room.

Doesn’t help there is nothing attacking or creative in the midfield.

Added to the fact that clearly some players are not actually good enough, that’s pretty much all the summer signings who should be putting in extra to save the guy who gave them a deal.

Things will be looking up……..now yogi is gone!

Exactly he should be gone for that alone, hardly surprising given grant hadnt signed a full time player for over 10 years prior if at all. Some of these guys will have to stay for next season too.

Just watched the highlights and grant just sitting refusing the celebrate our goal (maybe due to previous issue with Dom) but still.

Number 15 (Wilson?) shat his pants for thier goal too, he just turned away, he ain’t putting anything on the line for his team anyway.

It was Dow that Ran away, he started to head towards the player then ran out wide leaving a huge gap. Baffling stuff

So the manager`s now being criticised for not celebrating our goal? Maybe he was trying to convey the notion that there was a long way to go and we needed to keep the heid.

I think with that particular comment, Grant is correct.

With Dow on the left and Thomas on the right, both will naturally come inside to use their stronger foot. Instead of standing on the touch line, which is easier for the fullbacks to mark, they drift infield. The idea with this is that the opposition fullback isn`t sure whether to drift inside with them or not, or does a central midfielder drop back and cover them. Both of our fullbacks can then overlap, which both are quite good at.

Unfortunately, neither Allan or Pybus have much quality on the ball, so they don`t provide enough quick, good forward passes to take advantage of this, Wighton also suffers because his game is the ball in to feet between the defence and midfield. In fairness to both of them, for most of the second half, they were better at playing quicker, accurate forward passes, so there is a little bit of hope that will continue. Of the defence, Comrie`s distrubution is probably the best, so we are more likely to create something down the right hand side. O`Hara doesn`t have much quality on the ball, and Wighton was not sharp enough either yesterday.

We have had quite a few games now playing the same team with the same shape and the reality is we are not creating enough. I don`t mind Grant`s theory but the reality is not working. As winter approaches and the grass pitches get more difficult (like Firhill) this becomes even harder, so sadly there is little to inspire confidence of the improvement we urgently need.

What`s your explanation as to why he didn`t celebrate the goal?

Eck I`ll try to put this in simple terms for you to understand

We will be relegated with this man in charge.

If we`re relegated it won`t be because PG didn`t celebrate a goal.

I`ve had the turd-polishing metaphor before, Kessel. Can you not come up with a more original insult? You`re usually quite prolific in that department.

Insult? It was a compliment 👍🏿

I'll take your compliment bud.

I'm not as prolific at that as you are at defending the indefensible when it comes to people employed/involved at DAFC though. Definitely take that as a compliment.

I don`t know how many times I`ve said that Peter Grant would not have been my choice of manager but some of the stuff that gets posted on here goes beyond the pale and has to be challenged.

Our best player last night scores a fantastic goal to give us the lead for the second time this season in the league. He runs straight to the dug-out & gives it a "get it right up you" to his manager, who sits on his @rse showing no emotion whatsoever, yet some of you think this is OK?

It doesn`t matter how you paint the overall situation Eck/1985par (FWIW some of the personal criticism is OTT in my opinion) - it needs addressed TODAY. We`re bottom of the league with no wins & 7 goals in 11 games, more than likely no better off come Saturday night at a ground we rarely do well at. It`s relegation form pure & simple.

I`ve never been the type to shout for a managers` head but we just can`t afford to persist with this guy. He`s taking us back to league one, a league we all worked so hard to get out of.

Well, he would be. He must have thought his team was heading for a defeat, as the minutes ticked away. Had the positions been reversed, as they were in the Kilmarnock game, we'd have been reasonably happy too.

He would be considering it keeps his side in the promotion hunt. Us on the other hand are still without a win and look likely to go down if things don’t change.

My point is we are competing with teams at the top end in recent games. It’s maybe not a good point because of the horrible start we had and we are playing catch up but we can’t do anything about the past ?
We are a point behind Morton and three points off third bottom, so we are hardly cut adrift ?

At one stage there was a gaping hole where Dick should have been protecting. Thomas was about to fill that position as is natural for him, and was directed from Grant that he had to come inside.

That's virtually pornographic

I rarely listen to post pre match interviews. It`s the same garbage and pandering to the person who`s getting interviewed. The same questions every week finishing off with "and finally have you got a message for the fans?"
