Some lingering resentment towards him, I think, by some sections of our support. Can`t remember the particulars. Did rather well with Colchester, if I remember correctly, before going to Norwich. Started well with Aston Villa. Benteke let him down badly in the fight against relegation. Difficult to know if he`s any good but does he need the pocket money he may earn with us? But maybe there`s more to the man than money and he`s up for a challenge.

Hope we don’t dive in and offer it to him, that would be out the box thinking and we might pay the penalty for it

He felt a touch and went down. No way should this cheat be allowed anywhere near EEP.

That really isn't a logical reason for refusing to consider an application from him.
I remember when Sir Alex left the Pars to join Rangers. On his return to EEP, he made rather a meal of a tussle with John Lunn, rolling around as if he'd been knee capped. As soon as Lunn was sent off, he sprinted into the Pars box to take up his position for the Rangers free kick.
Going by your logic, we could never have considered Fergie for the Pars manager's job either.
Not your average Sunday League player.

Not manager but we signed Miles Hippolyte and we all remember what the bloke did to us!

It wasn’t so much the dive that annoyed me but his justification afterwards “ I thought I felt a touch so went down” as if that made everything ok.
My favourite referee was in charge that night - Willie Young - ironically he was also in charge at Dens Park for another decision that left me absolutely infuriated when Julian Speroni blatantly cheated to get Stevie Crawford sent off.
A big no from me.

Absolutely mental on here if folk think that Paul Lambert diving in a box 25 years ago will have any baring on him getting the job. He’s far higher than we can afford . If we can afford Lambert we can afford McInnes. Not going to happen .

Agree 100%. That penalty incident must've been nearly 20 years ago?

Probably more than that. Was that the game we were 2 nil up ? Midweek game I’m sure .
Edit : the game I’m thinking of 0-2 Celtic

Don’t really want lambert but that’s due to his record being poor rather than diving against us two decades ago. I was at the game and raging at the time but I don’t think an incident like that should be a dealbreaker.
He is better than some of the dross mentioned like kenny Miller but he wouldn’t be in my top 5 or 6 of candidates who have been mentioned.

The Norrie was certainly not given over to the Old Firm fans - I think the NW may have been though - not sure if it was the same night but I do remember Ian Ferguson doing a Dom Thomas and launching the ball into the Celtic fans there.

Think he's meaning that because we gave the NW to OF fans, it made the Norrie busier.

It was TWENTY-ONE years ago. I can`t believe folk can still be angry & upset about this!
Anyway, he`ll never be manager of our club in a million years so hardly worth worrying about.

I’d take lambert in a heartbeat, hasn’t had a great run recently but has managed at a very high level and would imagine he’ll have some excellent contacts.
Lambert is surely the biggest name we’re going to get. Surprised if he’s interested to be honest.

Highly unlikely but if he has the job by Saturday and is shown to those in hospitality. I might try to get him to apologise for diving. Another totally different point from that game. From where I was sitting leading to their second goal there was a forward pass which went out for a throw in but the linesman seemed to miss it. The supporters near me discussed this.
