 Meggle at half time

Just next to the tunnel, talking to shields for a couple of minutes before Shields entered the dressing room.

Was it him dictating yesterday from the stands and telling Shields/Whittaker what to do, What changes to make etc?

C'mon Ye Pars!

If he did send they accepted it they, with their lack of spine, should be next out the door, it's unacceptable from both parties.

Saw him leave his seat a few minutes before HT with his note book. Wonder how much influence he had on team selection?

Ever since his highly patronising and ill advised statement about PG I’ve been concerned about his involvement with the team. Can’t see Robertson, Hughes, Campbell etc putting up with that level of interference.

Mon the Pars!!!!!!!!!!!

Meggle was a manager before, he managed FC St Pauli in bundesliga 2 in Germany.

From the statement sacking Grant:

In the meantime, Greg Shields and Steven Whittaker have agreed to lead the team on an interim basis, and they will be supported by Sports Director, Thomas Meggle.

It's pretty clear he would be involved in the team and giving advice.

When Grant`s demise was announced it was stated that Shields and Whittaker would be preparing the team for the Morton match with assistance from Meggle. Whittaker said in his post-match interview that he had been in regular contact with them during the week. What`s the big deal?

wee_eck, you can`t expect to please everybody !

I thought it was a management team and I would expect them to talk to each other.

Meggle should just give himself the job rather than manage in the background. The idea of him having anything to do with team selection is extremely worrying particularly after that horrendous statement. By all means if he wants the job then that’s a different matter. Managing in the background is an act of cowardice I’m not entirely comfortable with .

He wasn`t in the background though, was he? They said last Sunday he would be involved and his actions during the week and yesterday prove he was. Whittaker and Shields are coaches; he`s been a manager. Why wouldn`t he have input?

All week the talk has been of Shields and Whittaker in charge....not Meggle, Shields and Whittaker...sometimes wording is important for managing people's expectations.
And no, that's not picky...my job Is literally to put out fires and manage expectations...my most effective weapon...and I'm good, very good...is language.

It does sound dangerous for Meggle to be as much involved with the football side and not solely the business side and obviously into the firing line from an already angry support further damaging fans persception.

I think it just highlights how lightweight our behind the scenes setup is regarding experience and its shown up for a few seasons now. The blame game is high on fans agenda but pars don`t have options until a new management structure is put in place and given some time to influence this team and club.

Surely language isn`t the best weapon if you are literally putting out fires?

Figure of speech, perfectly acceptable, no?
Hope you felt the smart er5e though, some folks need that in their life.

Not if you use the word literally.

Only being pedantic because your post was about how "wording is important"

Perfectly acceptable if using a figure of speech, try again.

The announcement of Grant`s sacking last Sunday said `Greg Shields and Steven Whittaker have agreed to lead the team on an interim basis and they will be supported by Sports Director Thomas Meggle.`

What could be clearer and why wouldn`t he be expected to support them? On other threads the German investors are criticised for not being sufficiently involved in the club`s affairs. They can`t win (literally).😊😊😊

Jesus what a mess at DAFC. German Investors who probably don’t know a lot about Scottish football, and let’s face it the style of football in Scotland is pretty unique!

Now we seem to have 2 inexperienced caretaker managers being advised by Thomas Meggle and a BOD who have failed to made few good decisions in management.

Think they should cut out all the BS and appoint Dick Campbell. I don’t think he would take any nonsense from anyone and would get the team sorted.

That's what I was thinking Eck. If Meggle has experience, then he should be using it to support Shields & Whittiker. Once a new manager comes in I would expect him to take a step back though and be more of a sounding board if the new guy needs it
