No Iain Wilson again, potentially a fall out there? He’s by far better than pybus, Allan and Todd

I hope the guy rams it down my throat, and scores a hat trick today, but I'm genuinely baffled how McCann gets stripped never mind plays.
I wonder if Hughes team meeting this morning had anything to do with the team?

Todorov and Wighton have had plenty chances this season, and been poor, why shouldn't McCann get one?

Besides, how many of those 31 has he been played in his actual position and not pushed out left?

Agree McCann has the stature and looks the part but useless when the ball comes near him, another youngster destined for the lower leagues and will do well do get a shot on target or an assist before then.

1-0 down now, looking at that team I’m not where where the chances are going to come from never mind the goals.

Today was a bit off a write off, next week is a far more important game…

Never expected anything today but we look awful. Looking forward to Yogi getting his input to the squad. We need players like McCann to start showing the ability many thought he had a few seasons ago. The goal was a shocker to lose. Defence looked like they were admiring Gardyne`s initial strike.

I’d say about 9 of those players are either not good enough or just stealing a wage/not willing to get the foot in and take control. Wasters.

I’m pretty sure it will be a different team next sat.

Yogi will spend the week weeding out those who can’t be arsed and hopefully we’ll stop throwing in the young squad players who are clearly not good enough.

Can we bring anyone in before January? Ie loans or free’s?

Think Yogi needs to send most of them to specsavers as they don`t know their own players ! we keep giving the ball away
Another goal where our players were dreaming and could have cleared it

Good point par, there’s only 4-5 who are good enough at this level and most of them are at the back. Although some like comrie appear to have downed tools this season.

Yogi will have his work cut out trying to fine a system to get any points on the board with that midfield. Geez grant was like a wrecking ball through the club.

Looking at the bench you would drive them all to their next club in January if anyone wanted them!

Things will be looking up……..now yogi is gone!

We need about 6 or 7 new faces in.

Todd, Edwards, MacDonald, McCann not good enough and Thomas, O’Hara, Comrie, Dorrans just haven’t stepped up at all to be the buffer they should be. Dorrans is just stealing a wage. Some of them need a rocket shoved up their farter.

If we are playing 2 up top and just relying on set pieces/scraps, then Todorov and Wighton with O’hara and Thomas the wide men surely a better option? Fecking useless. Todorov and Wighton must be thinking wtf if McCann is getting in ahead of them. The boy is absolutely rotten.

Tell me what Todorov and Wighton have contributed this season? Wighton has a first touch about 10 yards from him and Todorov is good at missing chances for a yard out.

Defo, it’s not great yogi is keeping shields in particular, is he being kept around to help with the youth once the new set up and facilities are complete, I hope so.

Hopefully yogi in there at half time telling a few home truths, a few of them lucky to still be playing full time fitba and if they keep this up they won’t be next season.

We need 4 starting quality players to stay up, minimum. I hope yogi has told or shortly tells the board that. It’s going to be a long slog to January. If we are smart we will try and have a couple of December games called off to be played in the new year.

Its not like Todorov, Wilson etc have done anything to merit a place in the team. Chance for others like Mccann to impress.

Agree with this. Boy deserves a chance.

He’s had 31 chances and been rank rotten in every one of them. Hope he proves me wrong today though not holding my breath

Todorov and Wighton have had plenty chances this season, and been poor, why shouldn't McCann get one?

Besides, how many of those 31 has he been played in his actual position and not pushed out left?

Has he touched the ball yet ?

Anyone else scored for us today?

It’s always easy to criticise, let the new manager make his mark with the players before we judge them. Under Mr Grants systems it was easy to give a negative opinion. Please let’s give them a chance as I know some read these comments

Also amazing to see Lewis McCann finally get his first goal and it couldn`t have came at a more important time. Hopefully that gives him the confidence to finally kick on and show how good a player he can be.

YAASSS!!!!! Finally!!! Well deserved.

We were dire for half an hour, but after much better, Dom was great again - some goal. O`Hara and McCann got through a power off work up top. Lewis struggled to begin with but did great second half, won a lot of battles against their centre backs - the lad is a centre forward not a left winger. There`s a player there for sure, just needs a goal for his confidence. Matty Todd wasn`t involved too much but Pybus was good when he came on. Dorrans reads the game really well, but also struggled particularly the 1st half an hour to play decent forward passes, but after was much sharper.

It can`t be that easy for Dorrans, McCann, McDonald etc coming back after a while into a struggling team, especially early on away against one of the strongest teams in the league. All three of them by the end showed why they were in the starting eleven.

Chalk and cheese, eh? What a dismal first half hour. We all knew the script: same old, same old. And then came the second half. Wow! Just, WOW!
What a result. Couldn’t be more pleased for everyone associated with the club. It’s been an awful long time coming but ……….. oh, how we deserve it.
Not sure who gets most credit? The players? Shields and Whittaker? Or was it (reportedly) Yogi’s appearance in the dressing room at half time, stripped naked and doing cartwheels? Whatever.
Seriously though, there were some amazing performances today. Dom Thomas absolutely ran things. Brilliant. Dorrans - solid. Connelly - ditto. McCann - a rock. Williams - great first half save. Not sure about the daft time-wasting, but …….. Edwards - best game I’ve seen him play. Comrie - did his job effectively in the main, and you can’t always say that. Etc., etc., etc. Honestly don’t think overall that there were any failures.
How good does it feel to have a win under our belt. That, plus we’re not in any way cast adrift in this league. Realistically we’re probably not going to make the playoffs but there’s absolutely no way that we’re going to be relegated.
Oh, and finally ……… hats off to our travelling support. To hear them singing, “We’re going to win the league” after our second goal was pure music to the ears!!!! Absolute class.

Lewis McCann I thought was excellent in the second half. Well done that boy.

What was fantastic to see in that second half also, was the absolute desire and fight in these players. You could see it coming. They just were smashing into challenges, smacking about to get the ball. Lovely stuff. And what a welcome change. Saw more in that 45 minutes than the entirety of this season so far.

Great result against a tough team. Onwards and upwards.
Leanne Crichton did make an interesting point on the radio, that those players should feel embarrassed that they couldn't dig out a result for Peter Grant but that they could do it for a new manager now they have got him the sack

So happy for Lewis McCann, a young guy who has rarely been given a fair run of games to grow into a decent option for us up front. Hopefully this can be the spark we need for these young guys to step up to the plate

I've always liked McCann but can understand his critics. Really pleased for him finally getting a goal. What a superb result. Onwards

Can’t agree with Leanne’s comment, Red Star. Grant was trying to impose some sort of system on a team whose players obviously hadn’t a clue what they were supposed to be doing. Peter Grant got Peter Grant the sack.

McCann didn’t get a goal, da no 1. It was an own goal off O’Hara’s shot / cross.

Think Leanne has a point, regardless of what system Grant used, the players are good enough to have pulled out a win for him.

Anyway, great result today, hopefully the springboard for a wee run.

Haha, Berry. As a “glass half empty” type of poster I suppose a “wee” run is quite a big concession from you! Me, I’m hoping for a very big run.

Yes indeed!

Learnt with the Pars to keep the feet firmly on the ground, it’s a great result, it could be a fantastic one if it carries through to next week, but let’s see what happens.

The big positive today is the players will now believe they can compete and win a game in this division if they work together and put the graft in.

Yogis job is to ensure the players keep at it, a 2-1 win away at ICT will have a bigger influence than had we beaten Greenock at home.

Absolutely buzzing with that!

I agree with DA, I do like McCann, I genuinely think he's got potential.

Maybe, like some, he thinks the boy has potential played in his preferred position?

More than one person in this thread has said he had a really good second half.

Let's enjoy the result, and hope Yogi can build in it...

Great result against a tough team. Onwards and upwards.
Leanne Crichton did make an interesting point on the radio, that those players should feel embarrassed that they couldn't dig out a result for Peter Grant but that they could do it for a new manager now they have got him the sack

What utter gash from Crichton. Another one from her big book of football pundit clichés.

I don't think he's ever had a start up front for us but I think there's a player there

And no I'm not related to him

Enjoy your evening

At half-time I was wondering why we'd bothered going up.
At full time I so glad we did.

Well done the Pars. I got up and checked the scores at half time and was obviously disappointed at being down 1 0. Got up about 5am and saw Alan Hill`s post that we had won 2 1!!!!! Thanks Alan and now a big smile on my face.

Add me to the Lewis McCann fan boy team if you like. First time the boys been given a proper chance up to today and I was really chuffed with his application and his knock on play. Lots to come from him, just needs confidence and game time.

We have been lacking a big, strong, physical striker to hold the ball up. To be honest, McCann hasn't looked the answer any time he has played but if Yogi can turn him into that, all the better. Todorov should be doing that but he has been a big disappointment.

Think you’re being a tad harsh on Todorov, the team as a whole have been underperforming, nothing to suggest Yogi can’t get the best out of him in weeks to come.

I agree with Berry, Todorov looked the part at start of season, even when we were struggling he seemed to get into position but always managed to find the keeper. As time went on it was obvious the full team were struggling to create chances. I believe now that we have broke the run we were on our strikers will have an upturn in fortunes

East End Park is a symbol of all that is DAFC.

Agreed that the whole team have been underperforming, and I would think Todorov will come back better when the team improves. However, was only making the point that for an established player, he has not performed well so far in that role, thus the reason he is not in the starting lineup. Here's hoping that under Yogi, him and others will perform more to their potential than has been demonstrated so far this season.
