Amazing what getting rid of one man can do to a team. They can all of a sudden do their jobs properly. Amazing, strange but amazing. Must have had it in them all along…

But Zod, how do you explain last week and the first half today ?
The players need to dig deep inside and produce something themselves too ?

Zod I prefer to put it more down to yogi as grant was gone last weekend and we folded easily.

Think a rollicking was dished out at half time today, something they haven’t experienced all season and it sparked something.

Didn`t you tell us all Grant`s signings were useless, Berkey? Connolly, Breen, Dorrans, Pybus and Graham were all involved today.

I don't think Yogi gave them a rollicking at half time, I think he would have been telling them they are better than that, show me what you can do, and putting some confidence back into them

That’s right wee eck, Graham and pybus coming off the bench having been dropped! Wait are you saying as graham played 18 minutes in the today and we won he’s been a good player for us so far this season?

More of grants players have been unceremoniously dropped this season than what started today and almost all by none other than grant himself! Signing 11 players in the summer and only 3 of them can get anywhere near a start while we struggle at the bottom of the league!

Connolly grants only success and we only signed him as Watson chucked it.

What was your point again?

Things will be looking up……..now yogi is gone!

My point is you`re far too premature in writing off these players. Let`s see what Yogi makes of them. Most of them are perfectly adequate Championship players in my opinion. They`re just lacking a wee bit of confidence. Only 11 players can start you know. It`s a squad game so there`s always someone who`s going to be `dropped`.

We need to forget they are Grants players, they are now all Hughes players and as such should be given a fair chance to show him what they can do

They had a fair chance to show what they could do under Grant did they not?

I’m not buying this lacking wee bit of confidence as well, they’re grown men. If all it took was a cuddle at half time and to tell them everything will be alright then says a lot about footballers these days.

Long gone are days when players play for the shirt.

Delighted with the win yesterday, hopefully it is the start of something and Hughes can get us up this table but refuse to put all the blame at Grants doorstep, the players have to take accountability.

Too premature in writing off these players wee eck, too premature in forgiving them and thinking everything is going to be alright, they need to do a lot more of what they did yesterday.

Confidence isn't about a cuddle at half time and equally grit and determination doesn't come from getting a row in the changing rooms either

Some of them will surprise us now and show us they aren’t as bad as we thought. Some won’t and will find themselves out of the door sooner or later. I have to believe their will be players inbound in January to strengthen the first team too. I think we will do enough to avoid relegation. How high we can reach? We will see.

`Too premature in writing off these players wee eck, too premature in forgiving them and thinking everything is going to be alright, they need to do a lot more of what they did yesterday.`

If success as a football team was just about 11 guys motivating themselves then we wouldn`t need managers. Have we forgotten how Jock Stein transformed a team of relegation-bound strugglers into a team that went on to win the Scottish Cup? I wonder how many fans had written off some of the players he inherited?

The fact is John Hughes will have to make the best of the squad he`s got for at least another 6 league games and, even then, I doubt the sort of wholesale changes some are anticipating will be possible. Of course they have to do a lot more of what they did yesterday but it`s a step in the right direction.

Excellent win yesterday. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going.

Folk who add nothing to the forum & just continually look to argue with other posters is embarrassing patter.

Forum means `a medium for open discussion`. It would be pointless and pretty boring if we all agreed. As long as we keep it civil I don`t see what the problem is.

It's a huge step in the right direction, don't underestimate the psychological barrier of getting that first win as the weeks go on. If anything it removes a bit of pressure for next week and makes us likelier to win (which I think we will).

As for the players, each and every one of them is a very, very good player in their own right. But sometimes, for whatever reason, it just doesn't work out. Lack of preparation, coaching, team dynamics, confidence, luck, injuries, illness, personal life etc etc etc. Multiply that by a few and a whole team can get into a horrible, horrible rut where nothing works.

No-one playing second tier Scottish football will ever be the complete package but nor will they ever be useless either. You're telling me someone like Graham progressed from schoolboy to junior to senior contract with someone like Dundee United without having talent? Give yourself a shake if you think that. These folk are human and like all of us they go through proper rough spells for whatever reason.

Time to all pull in the right direction and allow Hughes's work ethic and enthusiasm to rub off on us as well as the players. My money is on us finishing 5th or 6th.

It just doesn’t sit with me right that we went 13 games without a victory and then the first victory happens to come in first game since Yogi’s appointment and all is forgotten.

The squad we have is good enough, I just question whether they bought into Grants philosophy and wanted to play for him at all, which you could place blame with Grant for that ofcourse with management style but the players can’t escape blame completely for that either.

They were more than capable of winning at least a couple of games out of that first 13, regardless of the tactics Grant was using if they applied themselves correctly.

They didn’t look interested half the time and Grant from then on was leading a sinking ship and subsequently lost his job.

The victory yesterday was excellent, just wondering why they couldn’t show that determination and graft at any point prior.

Think Yogi nailed it in the interview when he talked about us having a lack of identity. He was able to sum up in a sentence what I think I’ve been feeling all season, this doesn’t feel like a Pars team to me.

Anyway, ofcourse I hope that changes and hopefully they play for Yogi, good start and hopefully good times ahead.

I suppose a new manager coming in is a time for everyone to reset the clock. That includes players and supporters. Personally I think that keeping the coaching staff on is good movr. It provides a level of continuity and I think they are a good combination. No doubt they are doing the best they can under the circumstances. Wholesale change is not what we need right now. In any team there are roles to perform. One of those is leader. Getting a good leader with the right support team behind them creates the right environment for success if the dynamic is right. My old boss once said that his men had told him they didn't follow him because he was a leader but just to see what happened when they got there. When they talk of confidence, I would say its more a question of morale. When the chips are down, good morale is essential. It can be the difference between winning and losing. Good to see Whitaker invited the supporters into the dressing room to congratulate the players. A good morale boosting move.

Managers like Jock Stein, Big Leish and Sir Eck, had a knack of making players an inch taller or a half yard quicker before entering the field of play, let's Hope Yogi is cut from the same cloth

It’s now about creating some momentum, a win next week at home V Ayr will be huge and can lift us clear of the bottom and ease the pressure a bit

It will also galvanise the fans and give Hughes a massive boost, let’s hope there is a good turnout next week to back a big performance from the team

Onwards and upwards, it was great to be present yesterday at our first win and it felt more like a Pars team who were fighting for each other
