Nah, that was as clear a penalty as you`re likely to see. If the striker manages to get goal-side of the defender then they have to be really careful not make any sort of contact or the forward is going down.

I don't think we've been brilliant by any means. They could've had a penalty and Alofabi has to score right on half time. Just wish we could control spells in games just to kill them off.

Promising tho.

Well thank goodness, JTH123. At last. The interminable cross field balls and passing between OFW and defenders (various) during the PG regime was definitely part of the problem.

I am liking the way we are using the flanks, especially on the right where McDonald is working really well with Comrie and Dow. Delighted for McCann. This could be the making of the laddie.

Our passing is 300% better than in our last home game. Good stuff!

I can`t figure out what is wrong with Ayr. They have no desire in them at all. That said, Afolabi looked to me to have got a fair penalty off Connolly, so we dodged a bullet there.

I hope Yogi asks the players to kick on from here for a confidence-boosting result that sees us climb the table.

Onwards and upwards.

Watching at home, 2 goals have been scored from 2 great corners. IMHO biggest difference is everyone is moving and want the ball,Especially from throw ins. No waiting on trying to find a player, Ball goes out and 2 or 3 choices for a quick ball

Going by this performance the players had less confidence in PG than we did.

Ayr are an absolute gang although you can only beat what`s in front of you. You have to wonder why Moffat isn`t in their matchday squad (and a few Ayr fans are asking that on Pie and Bovril) when they lack any sort of movement or quality up front.

A bit overly critical don`t you think? is it not past the realms of possibility that they are being better lead, rather than the players downing tools? There is a lot to be said for having the right manager in place at the right club

A result built on a foundation of 100% commitment and teamwork.
Then you pass the ball quickly and get it into dangerous areas for guys to attack it. You hope your young players will have days like these where they find their place in the team. Very happy for McCann who deserved his mom but Thomas was absolutely immense as well. Everywhere on the park. Willing to do the hard yards to defend and always there demanding the ball.
Very enjoyable to watch.

Great performance today with at least 3-4 outstanding players up for MOTM.

Yogi set us up perfect, effectively playing 5-6 across the middle and flooding the midfield to ensure we always had the numbers and not one player was exposed across the middle. Had my doubts about McCann upfront on his own but rose to the occasion, was buggered after 30 minutes and left it all out there.

Ayr looked very poor, like us under grant infact, gave us the freedom of the park and looked like they were just going through the motions.

After the Morton game I couldn’t see us getting many points or goals before Jan and left today thinking we could be comfortable in mid table by Jan. we were lucky alofobi is murder and they hit the post but we won’t 3-0 and didn’t even try to score for the last 30mins.

Can’t wait to see what yogi can do after some wheeling and dealing in Jan.

We picked up more breaks of the ball and 2nd balls in this one game than we have all season, that extra wee bit of effort made a huge difference.

Things will be looking up……..now yogi is gone!

So many really good individual performances today, with McCann, Dom, Dorrans, and Connolly worth of a mention. Not just individuals though, they really looked liked a team, playing for each other. Just shows how much confidence matters in football, Yogi installed that into them in the space of a week

Thought some of our play today was top notch……..

The short passing game over both wings & through the middle was outstanding.

Comrie - McDonald - Dow - Edwards - Thomas - Todd

Our shape was excellent. We played everything out from the back on the deck.

In the last 20 minutes I thought we dropped to three at the back that were interchanging positions with Dorrans dropping in and out of the back line. It was effortless & they all seemed to know where they were meant to be.

Last time I watched Dunfermline was at Arbroath - I was stunned by what I witnessed today. We didn’t just win, we demoralised Ayr they couldn’t get near the ball.

That was an absolute joy to watch.

Thank you Pars!

That was the most mature performance that I`ve seen from Dom. He`s undoubtedly a skilful player but can be so frustrating when he doesn`t release the ball when it`s likely to cause most damage. Today he mixed it up, showed us his skill, did the defensive work and passed the ball a lot. I thought that was as effective as he has been.

"1 point between the bottom 5 as it stands, we`ve made our play to change things, wonder how long it will take the others?"

I`m not convinced all the others will move. Indeed, they all night stick rather than twist?

Ayr have already played their hand (Ditched Hopkin, Duffy given the job til the end of the season). Doubt they can afford to ditch Duffy and strengthen the squad in January. If a fully fit moffat can`t get in the squad, it sounds like there are big issues there?

Accies have a new CE (McGowan?), who has publicly stated he has no real interest in football and is trying to sell the club. They`ve got a tiny squad and don`t seem to have any interest in making an investment in that squad. Survival, rather than relegation, might be the biggest concern for their fans?

Morton have a new (fan) board still bedding in. Not sure if they have money spare to sack McPherson, but if not will they think it is worth taking a punt that they`ll finish 8th?

Queens fans aren`t happy but are also talking up the old "relegation might be a blessing" routine (have they seen the ambition in that Division??). They`ve had shocking spells the last couple of seasons, but come right at the perfect time. Will their board rely on that trick again?

Pars (as we`re still in this mini league of absolute dross) - New manager bounce in full effect (win next week and Hughes will have more points as Manager than Grant managed), so hopefully we can get another few wins pre Christmas and establish our own little League of 1 in 6th place. Unlike the other clubs, our board have publicly acknowledged we`re in a relegation battle and that relegation would be a disaster - I expect they`ll make a bit of money available to get a couple of players in January and make sure we stay up.

So much better tactically today! Really interesting to see the high starting positions of Edwards and Comrie which really pinned Ayr back; and that allowed the midfielders to drop into the natural full back areas and get on the ball which helped us control the game.

Agree Bannerpar.

Thought Dom was superb today. His twists and turns, continually beating 2 and 3 players in tight spaces is just a joy to watch.

I thought our passing in the 1st half was poor but 2nd half was a training session albeit against a poor team that we lost to recently.

Corners in the 1st have gave us two goals but we looked like we could score at every corner from great deliveries.

We are transformed team, didn’t expect what I saw today after all it’s the same players.

Dorrans was class and IMO was MOM, Dow has been poor all season but looked a player today and back to his best. Thomas has more talent than any player in the Championship.

Yogi has seen that McDonald can play further up the pitch.

Thought that we had teams within the team today, left side and right side worked as units with the central midfield holding it together.

Everything about that was pleasing. The team and the supporters all felt different. The mentality has shifted. Even looking at the dugout, the coaching staff were all constantly interacting with each other, which is a big change from previously, where it was shields/whittaker at one side, and PG just sitting at the other. Some proper togetherness, and I left feeling very confident we'll beat the drop this season comfortably.

Thomas and Dorrans were exceptional, but as a team they all worked perfectly.

they were when they were all there, Shields was in the main stand for the first 30minutes and i think Whittaker did the same in the second half?

didnt know what to expect today from both sides but definitely a deserved win for us. back to back wins before the cup game, confidence will be high but it will be a totally different game on Friday night.

Sensible approach, different view of the game between the dug out and up in the stand
