I notice quite a lot of people, including experienced broadcasters, pronounce the plural as if it were the singular. Baffling.

But if they got their Sunday names it would be heart of Midlothian v Hibernian
Perhaps it’s to do with of its a place or geographical area its singular, but if it’s a shorthand collective name it’s plural
Celtic v rangers
Dunfermline v raith rovers
