Spain are different class . Think that's 38 goals in 4 and a half qualifying games !

have to agree wee eck absolutely diabolical defending , saying that you have to blame the manager 3 out 4 of the back four it`s their first time playing together
just now we are cannon fodder and letting them run through us , we need to get in their faces
a few years ago the woman`s team were ok , we seem to be going backwards

Questions have to be asked how we`ve became so awful in recent years. Spain are a decent team but we have always went toe to toe with them but this has been a walkover. Very disappointing.

Remember when Celtic beat us 8-1?
I suppose that`s a slightly less laughable result than 8-0 (although the Pars were at home,) yet I don`t remember any dafties blaming it on Jamie McCunnie`s gender.

2002 World Cup Qualifiers: Australia 31 American Samoa 0.
Not all countries have top level infrastructure for football that allows them to compete and that's probably exacerbated in the woman's game.
As long as the investment continues to be made, the standard will continue to rise. Some countries won't be able to keep pace with the nations that can afford more investment but that applies in the men's game as well.
Games such as those don't happen as often now as they have qualifiers to stop such unbalanced games but its not like they haven't existed on then mens side.

The women`s qualifiers started a couple of months ago and there have already been 12 instances of teams scoring double figures without reply including 2 19-0`s and a 20-0.
England had 64 shots to 0 last night and the Latvia keeper couldn`t even take a goal kick. The England manager seemed to hint at the fact that they are looking to resolve it by having some pre-qualifiers in future though. The men`s game isn`t exempt from the same criticism but it doesn`t happen as frequently or to such extremes.

That's mainly down to the fact that the mens game is a bit more established and in a lot of cases has put in place the pre qualifiers.
Once the women's game has developed a bit and they've got a better idea as to which teams are going to get gubbed they'll probably do something similar to the men's game.

I felt sorry for the Latvian ladies, they were considerably less muscular and fit. It was real women against girls stuff. The keeper gave away a couple of howlers but actually performed not too bad under the circumstances, seen Jim Moffat perform worse on a cold New Year’s Day at Starks Park, she simply had no cover.

& what about the 20 - 0 last night. Any examples for that? Wouldn’t even expect any pub matches to have that scoreline this weekend unless they couldn’t put out a full team.
The exposure the womens game gets is disproportionate to the quality presented.

Pre qualifying is surely the way to go for the nations where the women’s game is only just starting to develop. The scorelines and matches we are seeing every round of qualifiers are surely not helping anyone.

Fact is there is loads of top quality womens sport that I greatly enjoy and is highly competitive including golf, tennis & curling (which despite being very good at does not get much exposure at all) off the top of my head but it seems verboten to acknowledge that womens football is very poor and that exposure would be better served elsewhere.
Just last night we have;
Ireland 11 v 0 Georgia
Luxembourg 0 v 8 Austria
Lithuania 0 v 7 Switzerland
Romania 0 v 5 Italy
And the Scotland and England games make six matches with 5 or more goal spankings out of twenty matches.
30% of games being hammerings is just garbage.
Add in the three 4 - 0 matches and your talking nearly half the matches are not even remotely competitive. That does not warrant the coverage & hype it gets.

I genuinely don`t get the furore over a team getting humped - regardless of sport/gender.
In the instance of women`s football, these are the qualifier for the cup - not the actual knockout stages.
I don`t see a team getting beat 20-0 making it to the group stages so there is a "Selection of the best" process.
Just think about the 70`s - remember George Best -he played for Northern Ireland when they were rank rotten. According to some neaderthals we should never have seen him play because they would never qualify for a competition.
And think of all the players who are outstanding for club (and country) - but because they play for a wee diddy team with limited resources - you are potentially barring them from playing on a global scene.
I get that the quality and standard is as a whole is poorer than the man`s game, but at least they are honest. It is so refreshing to see a player fouled get up and get on with the game rather than apparently die of a broken finger nail.
So for me - good on all the womens teams for going out and giving of your best.
Let`s hope you inspire the next generation.
