While I am in favour of VAR, seen a few given last weekend in the English Premiership that were never penalties and stood after the VAR review.

Don`t need punished, what should happen is referees should be interviewed by the press after each game to explain thier mistakes

When are we going to get a break this season? I know we haven`t played well overall but we have also been the victims of circumstances beyond our control - two dodgy pens in our last two away games and now a game abandoned when we were probably playing the best we have done under Yogi.

"Partick Thistle score (Kyle Turner) with the last kick of the ball after 7 minutes of injury time against 10 men."

The news still hasn`t reached the BBC, their league table is still showing the Thistle and Raith points as they were at 90 minutes.

Was it offside and a foul on the keeper as well?

Just wondering how many parallels there are between this game and their previous last-game-of-the-shortened-season.

Not that I bear a grudge or anything, or think that it`s over.

Quite impressed with some of our movement today, midfielders wer winning balls and making telling passes we looked a different side today , suckered again to a never penalty don,t think the ref was giving it until that Lino ( the one that flagged for a throw when the ball was still in play} put his flag up , the standard of officials in Scotland is embarrassing

Not quite the same, evo. That game was called off at 1.30 pm, admittedly because of fog, but by 3 pm the sun was splitting a cloudless blue sky........

We took 5 minutes to get over the penalty ( never was) but came into the game and over the whole game put together some good passing movements .
At the back most of their good stuff came down our right , but a couple of really bad errors threatened to undo some good play.
Hopefully the injury to Connolly isn`t as bad as it looked , he really does hold the back four together.
Unfortunately this relegation battle could go down to the wire, nobody at either end of the table can put a long run of results together.

We played OK today and it`s a pity the game didn`t finish as we had a good chance of getting something from it. Just one of these things, sadly, and the decision to abandon was probably the only one the referee made today that I didn`t question.

Will be interested to see the penalty again, as I was fairly sure it was an awful call. He seemed to give it very quickly without thinking about it but to me it was just two players coming together and one of them falling over in the contact. It seemed that every single decision with any degree of doubt went against us. No idea what he stopped teh game for that caued the dropped ball restart that led to the corners the penalty eventually came from.

We were struggling early in the game and just seemed so open and easy to play through. Not unexpected given the shape today but I was wondering if we could continue with it when suddenly we came into it and scored a good goal. Good work out on the left and a nice finish from the cut-back. From then til half-time we looked a coherent team and were the better team. Had we gone in 2-1 up, it wouldn`t have been unfair in any way. The downside was that we continued to take too many chances in bad areas, and really we do need to get this sorted and just do the simple thing sometimes. We certainly got away with one not long before half-time.

As we were wandering round at half-time, I was aying that even if the fog did ome in when it got dark, I`d be surprised if it was bad enough to threaten the game. Just a wee bit wrong there! From the restart it very quickly got thicker and within 10 minutes I couldn`t see the corner flags at the far end. Would have been interesteing to see how the second half developed as it wasn`t as good and open as the first, which was not a particularly bad thing.

Good to see Josh Edwards have a good game today. He`s struggled a bit in recent games but, against a good, experienced opponent today, he was completely on top.

Before this season I think I`ve only been at one game that was abandoned in 30 years, so to have been at two in the same season, just a few months apart, is quite remarkable

Agree Socks and will contact The Guardian to see if this has happened before. Both times we seemed to be on top as well.

Just for context, a match abandoned after 85 minutes at Parkhead in 1975.
Roy Barry was playing for Hibs then and they were 2-0 up at Parkhead when the referee called the game off. After 85 minutes!

John Blackley flicked the Victory Vees to the Celtic support and was manhandled on the way to the dressing room. So visibility could not have been that bad if they saw that.

Going back to the game I think the drop ball was given because the ball hit the ref – he is no longer part of the pitch and so I think they restart with an uncontested ball, but it wasn’t clear who had had possession.

Breen seemed a little caught on his heels which meant Shaw got the flick-on and put the Pars under pressure which eventually led to the penalty – this long ball seemed quite an effective tactic. The Killie commentary were pretty sure it wasn’t a penalty – certainly didn’t look like one to me.

Referees almost never change their minds – I’ve heard it said that to become successful you need an almost pathological belief in your judgement even when all available evidence points to you being wrong. I wondered if he might have known he’d got it wrong and became inclined to give the Pars the benefit of the doubt later on, but I don’t think they think like that.

Yogi has mentioned “square pegs in round holes” a couple of times which I think means playing players out of position. On the other hand, Matty Todd, for example, has said that he considers himself to be a footballer, and therefore can play in several positions (that may be Greg Shield’s influence). Yesterday we dropped the squarest of pegs (Macdonald) and played Wighton which was a surprise, as he had been rather obviously overlooked in my opinion – I thought he was on the way out. Allen came in for the ill Kennedy which meant Dow moved to the left. From the bits I saw (I had technical problems) it looked a lot more balanced, with more players getting forward into the box – which has been an issue.

Of course, who knows what would have happened if the game had gone full distance – I fancied our chances but we could have easily lost it to a wonder-strike in the 97th minute. Not that that would have saved Tommy Wright’s job – they must have decided to bin him to give the new manager a chance to make signings during the window. It looks a harsh decision to me although Killie fans I know weren’t happy with him. I think expectations are too high.

Just watched the highlights.

Comments regarding Wightons goal.

Great dummy by McCann and great finish by Wighton with his back to goal…

Eh?

McCann scuffed an effort and Wighton certainly did not have his back to goal….

It went in, that’s all that matters, but if you are going to comment on a goal, for us not fortunate enough to be at the game or watching it live at least try and get it close to reality….because it wasn’t…

Don`t have to watch any replay to see it was a blatant dive for their pen. I think we would`ve won the game had the fog not intervened.

If the “great dummy” gripe is about my post from Saturday then it was a joke, hence the smiley at the end of the sentence. It clearly wasn’t a dummy.
