The 3 decisions at weekend are baffling.
Ryan Fraser stonewall penalty
Kane stonewall red card as that’s a leg breaker
Jotta stonewall penalty

Shearer was spot on in his analysis of each decision.

Why don’t they have the refs that have been retired because they reach 50, doing the VAR?

I think the problem at the minute with VAR is they don’t want to undermine their colleagues?

And shearer is bang on. An absolute disgrace yesterday from very well paid professionals.

It begs the question of what will happen if/when we get VAR in Scotland - if the problems lie with the referees rather than the system then perhaps the quality of the decisions won`t be improved here either.

How Kane got a yellow and Robertson got a red I cannot understand. One was a potential leg breaker where the other was a bad tackle.Ref on var must have been a Spurs fan as the penalty was also obvious.

Also not helped by the Refereeing association coming out and defending the Kane decision saying that they agreed that it was a yellow card based on the force of the tackle and the impact point.

Yup that right, only half way up the shin when Robertson was already off the ground is fine apparently, wonder what `impact point` warrants a red card……

I agree that Robertson’s was a red card.

That`s an excellent shout, Raymie.

From the beeb :-

Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has criticised the officiating in Tottenham`s draw with Liverpool on Sunday, saying Andy Robertson is "lucky to be walking".

The left-back was on the end of a strong studs-up tackle from Harry Kane.

Referee Paul Tierney only gave a yellow card and Robertson was later shown a straight red for a foul on Emerson Royal that was reviewed by VAR.

"I think Kane`s tackle`s worse than Robertson`s," said Clattenburg.

Another Yes for Raymie`s Idea from me

Should use impartial folk on VAR with no ties to the folk on pitch.

It`s like going into a disciplinary at work and your pals are on the review panel.

If Mike Dean (example) has a howler as the senior referee in the league they aren`t going to throw him under a bus on national TV, they`ll close ranks and stick with decision. It`s a natural reaction i suppose.

Kane is the England captain and their wee golden boy. It’s as simple as that. He gets away with murder. A total cheat at euro 2020 but he was never called out for it. We all know.

I think Shearer once escaped punishment for a nasty tackle at club level when he was England captain.
Maybe it`s like when John Greig was sent off after clashing with Alex Ferguson and he warned the referee he couldn`t do that, since Greig was the Rangers captain.

Are other Leagues which introduced VAR experiencing the same problems?

"I think Shearer once escaped punishment for a nasty tackle at club level when he was England captain."

That was strongly alluded to by the presenter on MOTD after Shearer`s rant about Harry Kane.
