 Encouraging advance ticket sales…
Topic Originator: oakley_pars

Poor show from the club promoting this knowing the games are about to be behind closed doors.

Tweet has now been deleted by the club too. Rumbled

Which the club will have been well aware of. But they decided to put a tweet out asking fans to buy tickets early anyway.

Horrendous behaviour

It`s horrendous, bordering on slanderous, to put that on a public forum when you have no evidence that there`s any truth in it whatsoever.

Any excuse to put the boot into a club.

There`s bigger things to worry about than a tweet made prior to any actual announcement.

Have a lie down mate.

So they knew what was happening before it was announced? Is that what you are saying?
You realise the club would have to refund any tickets sold

Great idea by the club to try and get organised.

Pity they have had the carpet pulled out from the under them 🥴

Seems stupid to launch a marketing push for fans to buy tickets just 2 hours before a FM announcement. Wales announced they’d gone behind closed doors at the weekend. Whilst the club wouldn’t have known the rulings it’s a bit of an own goal not to wait until after she’d spoken.

I`m fairly certain the only ones viewing it as an "own goal" or worse are just waiting for something to get in a state about.

There is really nothing to see here.

I`ve got pals who work in the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland. I can guarantee you football clubs were not given advance notice.

The only people given notice are the likes of schools and even then it`s on the basis of "could" happen rather than "will" happen.

Of course the club didn’t know the rulings but they knew there was an announcement coming. To encourage fans to buy tickets with that in mind was clueless.

Agree, probably needs to be deleted.

Nobody saw this ridiculous decision coming, and the idea that the Scottish Government would give a heads up to football clubs is for the birds (exception to PARrot!)

Now the club`s have to scramble around to try and salvage something from this.

It WAS deleted. The issue here is people on social media claiming the Pars had prior knowledge. I wouldn`t be surprised if it was a scheduled tweet. If the club did predict this happening then I`m going to be asking them for the Euro Millions numbers.

I expected it and given that most of the replies to the tweet suggested the club were trying to get cash in before a shutdown it`s fair to say a lot of people saw this coming

By the same token, you could say anyone buying a ticket right now if it was so obvious this was going to happen was a bit daft!!

No one made anyone buy a ticket yet, tweet or no tweet!!

Could have been a scheduled post set up a few days ago.

Anyway, the club wouldn`t have known specific timings or details of restrictions, only speculation, so fair enough for them to proceed until told otherwise.

My auld mans tuppensworth for what its worth ... I think the op posted what he saw and heard at the time without thinking it through .. There is no way DAFC would try and cheat their fans by cajoling them to buy tickets knowing in advance the new covid restrictions

However what I do find distasteful is that certain posters who disagree with the op`s opinion can call the op`s mental heath into question .. that is where Admin should/need to step in and either delete the thread or ban the said poster ..

Sometimes that seems like the only explanation tho.

Folk like Sergio NEVER have anything good to say about anything DAFC related. The club would not be any worse off if he just didn't bother coming back

The idea of the message from the club was for fans to buy tickets online rather than cause queues in the ticket offices, a reaction to advice we all knew about from the government, for retail outlets to take action to avoid crowding in shops etc. Why would anyone think that it was a ploy to cheat the fans? If they are unable to attend the money would be refunded anyway.

Sometimes if you don`t have anything positive to say, it`s better not to say anything.

Add to that the fact that selling tickets that then have to be refunded will actually cost the club money in interchange and fees make this a really poor scam. Some folk are just not very bright.

All venues were advised yesterday morning of the pending changes. I got an email at 10:30 to advise of cancellation of an event on 3rd Jan due to new restrictions that were coming.

Sounds like likely me who is wrong. What I was told is they get told of what may happen rather than what will happen. So, for example, all the schools will be getting parents ready for video classes just in case of a lockdown. That`s not the same as saying there will be a lockdown and video classes will be needed.

It’s possible that hospitality venues got advance notice and football clubs didn’t. We don’t seem to be the only club claiming that there was no advance notice/warning about this. Given the SFA/clubs previously were given advance notice, they perhaps then assumed that this meant this level of restrictions were unlikely, so started to plan ahead.

I certainly don’t believe for a second that the club would try and shaft fans, as has been suggested on this thread. At the time they put the tweet/article up, the latest government advice was to try and limit large crowds etc and therefore, buying in advance/online would avoid unnecessary long queues. The tweet/article also advised that 50/50 sales were online only, to limit social contact in/around the ground. The tweet/article seemed like a genuine attempt to try and limit queues/physical interactions with people at the stadium.

The club uses tweet deck a scheduling tool. Firmly suspect that they would have put that in place some time ago and forgotten about it.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the “heads up” given was informal and only a couple of hours before the decision being comm’d out such is the current situation.

Folk need to calm down and think before posting right now. Tough times for the club.
