Always a tricky tie for us. Pretty pessimistic at the moment about our chances in any game but I do have a feeling we will turn this round at some point.

2-1 Pars. We will have to score at least 2 as Gary Oliver already has a goal

Turgid 0-0 at best. Hope we can sneak it though. Defeat will be a disaster…

Fail to win today and next week at home to Accies and alarm bells will be ringing louder than they already are.

Big Gozie always puts in a shift against us.

We have struggled to cope with him in previous games and today will probably be no different.

Crossed my my mind as well - snow in the West yesterday, then freezing, followed by a thaw overnight.

I live in the West and I`d be stunned if this is on tbh unless Morton had the foresight to put a sheet down, but I doubt it as it caught everyone out yesterday. Roads were a complete shambles before noon time.

Cappielow is only a few feet above sea level. The rugby pitch beside us here in Glasgow which is at least 100m above sea level is almost completely thawed out. A muddy pitch would be the only problem at Cappielow but if their drainage is any good it should be fine.

A midfield 3 of Allan Todd & Pybus is absolutley honking! as much as I want our young players to kick on and fulfill their potential they just arent good enough. I can only see another 3 points lost today. Great to see Martin back in the team but that squad is arguably one of the worst we have had for years. We need another 4/5 players in if we want to have any chance of staying up

This is shambolic.

Junior clubs are run better than we are….

This is arguably the most important game of the season so far and we have an untried central defensive partnership neither who have played in a game for months..

We also allowed our best player to play through an injury until he could play no longer without seeing the physio morning noon and night and taking pain killers ( DT words) now he is out for weeks.

Clueless….

Our team looks totally cobbled together- it shows how much depth we lack and it really worries me when there’s zero paper talk about us being linked with this player or another. Okay the Coll deal was done very quietly with no leaks but it still leaves me with an uneasy feeling that we will be sticking with no major changes. Yogis interviews don’t give me any further confidence in that manner either

The only changes from last week are the two centre backs. With neither Connelly nor Breen in the squad presumably these are enforced changes. We`ll just have to get on with it.

Up against it with centre half pairing not having played together and not match fit, ithink they must have thought Connelly was staying to let Gasputis leave.

Parfect, yogi had hinted at a player possibly even being signed for today, that obviously hasn’t happened but clearly we are intent on bringing more in. At the bare minimum we need a centre back and a central midfielder added to the squad. I’m sure we will get one of each before the window shuts. We may well be biding our time to see who becomes available. Whilst I’m very concerned about the quality of the squad just now, I’m confident enough a couple of additions are on the way. I’m disappointed Vytas was allowed to leave when he could have played one more game against our relagation rivals, a result which when looking back at the end of the season, may be very important.

We aren’t that bad. One bit of kamikaze defending earlier (I’m not sure who it wa so the stream is so bad) giving the ball right to them at the back but shot was tame.

Apart from that we have been ok. Wasteful once we get past the halfway line and not created much but we aren’t being dominated.

Hughes is a good manager. I’m sure most people with a bit of sense know that but it’s staggering how bad this group of players are. Peter Grant and those who have allowed him to sign these players are to blame. Even if we go down I hope Hughes is kept on. It’s not his fault. Other people have stole a wage from this club. A lot are continuing to do so.

Unless an absolute miracle of biblical proportions takes place between now and the end of the season, we are finishing dead last. Disgrace this has been allowed to happen when we started with one of the biggest budgets in the league.

Hiring Peter Grant and allowing him to build this "squad" had been the biggest case of self destruction since Brexit. To then not work to bring in players on January 1st in key areas is looking pretty negligent too. League One beckons and looking st Falkirk`s travails, there is no guarantee we`ll be back quickly. What an absolute travesty of a season.

Hughes is showing nothing to prove he’s a decent manager.

Persisting on playing Todd, Allan, Pybus who are not good enough.

Hasn’t given Todorov or OHara a chance.

Playing 2 defenders that haven’t played together or kicked a ball in months.

Said he didn’t want Gaspuitis to leave but never played him.

Breen is just as bad.

The squad is rubbish worstnpars squad in years.

The academy and all that jazz will be worth nowt if we get relegated, Kelty Hearts squad is better than ours

McArthur and co hired Grant and allowed him to build his squad to go for promotion. That same squad are taking us down and somehow folk are saying Hughes is somehow to blame. These players are playing at this level for a reason. There isn’t one asset in that squad. No players coming through. No players worth a transfer fee. Doesn’t matter who’s in charge. We were going down all along.

Hampered by Covid is bull.

Hughes interview the other week where he said Todd and Allan train hard everyday - well if this is there best after training hard all the time they would be as well getting a full time job somewhere else.

They have zero quality.

There is no defence for any of what is going on, Grant was awful and Hughes is following it up.

Embarrassing. Let Gasputis go early and play two defenders who`ve hardly kicked a ball all season start at the centre. Playing too many players who haven`t performed at all this season either. I`m all for youth getting a chance but Matty Todd is barely league two calibre. McCann has potential but he`s not a player that should starting up front by himself when we`re battling relegation. I really don`t know how we can recover from relegation. Teams in league one are much better than when we were down there last time. We have to stay up but it`s looking increasingly unlikely.

Nobody wants to hear a barely literate manager waffling aboot his groondsmen with a silly big grin on his face….utterly embarrassing.

Looks like the board have been fooled again….

No more interviews with players…..nothing ,zilch, nada.

Get four players in pronto, work your backsides off in training and get stuck in on Match days.

Maybe just maybe we will crawl into 9th and stay up through a play off.

A kick in the teeth for all of us who have to do real graft just to stay in a job, nevermind have a contract to fall back on if we are useless. Utter frauds.

There`s something to be said for losing so badly that there`s no option but to take some form of action. Different recruitment, budget, line up, whatever. Potentially better for us than a skittery 1-0 defeat.

Nobody can defend this. It’s indefensible. A lot of folk played a part in this nightmare coming to fruition and I hope they have a good look in the mirror tonight then ask what’s the best thing they can do to help the club out of it. In some cases that will be a resignation. In others it will be picking up the chequebook.

Pathetic appointment of Grant by the board, horrendous recruitment in the summer which didn`t address the midfield and in fact we brought in worse players than what we had.

The club is an embarrassment from top to bottom, I don`t think Hughes has done well but what are you meant to do with the players at his disposal? Let`s hope we have a lot of signings lined up to replace this dross or we really are doomed

This team is simply not good enough.

Mccann, Allan n Todd, useless. Not even fit enough to play for Cowdenbeath.

However, the signing of Donaldson is Yogi`s first mistake. That boy is a bombsacre, always has been. Somehow got a move south in previous years but was back up the road within a blink of an eye.

With 2 centre backs today who haven`t played together before we were on a hiding if it went bad and it seems it has big style.

This is a shocker but hardly surprising looking at the team sheet.

Yogi starting to take some of the blame now, if he can’t anything out of the likes of todorov, o’hara and wighton then why is he here? We could have saved his wages and Whittaker could have pick the same dross every week.

He’s got nothing additional out of McCann, Allan and Todd than anyone else has, he’s just chucking them out every week regardless of poor performance.

Yes the squad he inherited was bad but it wasn’t a 5-0 pumping at Morton bad.

Don’t know how much the reported COVID outbreak has had on today’s squad selection but this has been an utter disaster.
Andy Ritchie is the co-commentator for Ton TV and for me he’s nailed it in four soundbites:
“If you want to play out from the back like that you’ve got to have three very good central defenders”
“ Ton have won all the second ball in midfield today”
“When I saw who they (Pars) had in attack today I thought, no wonder they’re in the position they are”
and, “Dunfermline’s attack today has been powder puff”
Couldn’t have put it better myself.

Agree that our troubles go back much further than PG.
I remember tuning in to a cup game against Morton at Cappielow under SC and we looked just as bad then. Following that game there were all sorts of angry comments on this forum about a clueless manager, not ringing the changes and hiding behind his snood.
PG kept that momentum (or lack of it) going and did nothing to sort us out.
And now JH has inherited a disastrous squad and must be wondering which way to turn.
There’s absolutely no good talking about the investors - or anyone else - getting the cheque book out. I’m pretty certain that there will be little or no money available: we’re only a few years out of virtual administration for heavens sake, and “the investors” took control of the club for a measly few hundred thousand pounds. I seriously don’t think that they’re vaguely approaching the Abramovich level.
We are where we are; fecked!
Relegation this season is inevitable. Let’s just get used to the idea, like it or not.

Surely he has to ring the changes next week after that display? Hopefully Connolly was injured and is staying because he was holding that defence together. If he leaves, we are in even more trouble because our other central defenders are rotten.

He needs a few signings this week.
He has to get a proper midfield.
He has to play 2 strikers to give us a chance of scoring a goal.
He has to instill some belief because this lot lose a goal and they are beat. How he does that, god only knows.

These are big asks. I fear the worst.

Grim, utterly grim. Almost hilariously, we were actually worse in the second half. The only tiny straw to clutch at is that looking at the bench, I guess we were forced to go with Martin & Donaldson. I hope it was just a case of not being match fit, but that was one of the most awful debuts I have seen, capped off with an own goal. The midfield...nothing positive to say at all. Lawless looks like he can play, McCann did ok first half and otherwise...

Without at least 2 competent midfielders coming in there is very little hope :(

McCann did what he could, I`m not sure what he`s expected to do when he is left so isolated, he won several headers and linked the play more than a few times, we just have nothing from midfield going forward. Dow, Pybus Allan and Todd just pass the ball sideways and sit in the same areas. Lawless has energy and looks to bring the ball forward, I`m sure we`ll coach that out of him soon enough

Yes but you need to learn and use what you learn in training- these players don’t seem to be doing that - they seem to be running around with no clue what to do - so they could train 24/7 if they wanted to but if you aren’t going to take in and use what you learn then it’s a waste of time

I think they show no real quality in training but the ones who work hardest get a game.

The ones who work hardest also know they are in the last chance saloon for Full time fitba.

Yogi will have found out a long time ago the best trainers are not necessarily the best players they just know the are limited so work harder. Does yogi have a clause to go in the summer? Starting to wonder if he’s not fussed to be here after all.

Todorov played most of the 2nd half today as was as non existent as the rest of the team. Wighton has hardly done much this season.
Better putting O Hara running off McCann, can`t make the defence any more open playing 442 than it already is.

Again Hughes is talking about them showing something in training :( That`s because they are playing against each other!

"We controlled the game" after the first 10 minutes, to some extent yes, we did have a decent amount of possession but most teams are happy for us to pass the ball slowly backwards and sideways. You can have as much possession as you want, but in that starting line-up, there were only 2 threatening attacking players in our team Lawless and McCann. Sadly Ryan Dow and Comrie again today looked like League Two standard. Again we didn`t score and again we didn`t look like scoring and if we continue with this formation and team selection then the only question is by how many to nil we will lose by.

If we play the same shape and same style, we will get a similar result, Dunfermline 0 Hamilton at least 1.

Most of Morton`s goals and clear chances came from them playing direct forward passes (not aimless punts) with their forwards pressurising our defenders and pouncing on mistakes. We need to play more directly, we need O`Hara up to alongside McCann to give the opposition something to think about, as I don`t think many defences in this division are that impressive.

We are simply not going to score goals by slowly passing it around. We don`t have the players for this, this is not something Hughes can coach into them, especially mid season, the conditions on some of the grass pitches in winter don`t help either.

Too many of the midfielders don`t offer enough. Dow was back to being hopeless again. Allan is neat and tidy but doesn`t have a great range of passing and doesn`t snap into challenges like a defensive midfielder needs to, look at Morton`s first goal where he should of slid in, even if he wiped the guy out it and got booked it would have been worth it. Todd, again, neat and tidy but what else does he bring? Limited passing, nothing defensively, can`t dribble, can`t shoot, doesn`t get to the byeline...Pybus has no quality on the ball whatsoever, but at least does win it back now and again and plays with some urgency.
