Gave up ages ago. We are honking and totally deserve relegation. Worst I’ve seen us in donkeys. Won’t count season 2014-15 as that was League 1 but certainly at this sort of level it’s hard to think of much worse.

Amazing the turnaround Lee Bullen, Imrie and Gibson have all had on their clubs. I really thought we would be miles away from this when Yogi took over. Not signing a striker in January was a big mistake.

"Its in our hands.:

How do you figure that? If the target is 9th and staying up via the play offs (we`ve never won play offs in 5 attempts by the way) then yes, but for 8th and staying up automatically it isn`t. And even if it was true, other teams are picking up points and showing a bit of fight and scoring goals; we are doing nothing

As to the game today, yes we`ve had the bulk of possession but most of the time we`ve done hee-haw with it. Lots of backwards and sideways passing and still look shaky at the back (no idea what Ambrose was doing at the goal). We should have scored before we went a goal down to be fair but other than that we seem to overplay it and hope we get one over the top. Great effort from O`Hara out of nothing and also Lawless hit the post but he should have done better. Still in the game I guess and hopefully Thomas can come on and get a run at their back four.

Talking about McCann v O`Hara, its not a like for like comparison. No point trying to be physical against Arbroath, O`Hara has used his pace to get in behind a couple of times and i can`t see McCann attempting that volley that O`Hara had. Like McCann has had though, O`Hara hasn`t had much support from the midfield. Dow is trying but can`t break the lines and Lawless has been quiet.

We`ve had strikers proven at thus level sitting on the bench since Yogi took over. Hee haw about signings, it`s about hoe Yogi sets us up to not lose rather than win.

No way on this earth we have improved substantially. We have went from horrendous under Grant to poor under Hughes. The January transfer window was a chance to turn things around and it hasn’t happened so far, we are comfortably at this point deservedly going down, I was hoping we would put up more fight than we have so far. Every other team around us has had big results against the the teams at the top. We are still waiting on ours as hasn’t happened so far.

One thing is for sure under yogi, we’ll try and draw our way to safety. If we loose more than we draw we’ll likely go down and even is we draw most games we’ll likely go down.

Such progress under yogi, 5 of that team today are his players. If he can’t set us up to look like scoring we might aswell have given it to shields.

At this point we’re a lame duck tamely going down.

Things will be looking up……..now yogi is gone!

We are an absolute shambles of a club and that`s mainly the reason why we are where we are at the moment. We are now bottom of the table which is embarrassing considering the budget we have compared to others in this league. Yogi will no doubt try and put a positive spin in his post match even though we are two points off play off spaces and 7 off safety. I never saw this coming even after picking Grant. This season has been the worst in my 30 years as a Pars fan. What makes it worse is there is no chance we will come back up from league one next season with the teams present there.

I stated undeniable facts.

Emotions running high is to be expected but try to stick to the truth. We need to win against the bottom sides and we want them to draw with each other. It`s not over yet.
Todays result wasnt beyond what I expected from this match and it`s a massive improvement on what happened last visit to Arbroath.

Actually apologies...i got the points wrong. My app hadnt updated the table.

27 points to play for and just played the top 2 teams in the league.

We play the teams around about as home in the run in.

Think we can all agree its been a season to forget but that doesn`t mean we should give up, at what point do the FANS actually rally behind their team ?

I don`t think bringing in a striker would make any difference RMGpar
strikers need to get service and our midfield just do not give whoever it is upfront any decent service !! if strikers cannot get the ball in good areas they cannot score , simple as that ! too busy passing across or back the way
And apart from Coll Donaldson hitting the bar in 92 minutes we didn`t have another effort on or off target in the second half which tells all when you are chasing a game .
As it is just now I cannot see where we will get a win from ? and next week away to Hamilton is a must win , hopefully on Tuesday Partick will help us by beating QOS but the way things have been going I will not hold my breath , we really need to turn the tide and start getting results ourselves ,do not like to be gloomy yet but that`s another game passed us by and we are running out of games to get to safety
A massive clear out is definitely required come summer
Tired of hearing excuses from the manager and the players they need to do the talking with their feet and start winning games and it would be nice to see a bit more fight from them
And I am not giving up hope that we can turn the tide but it has to really start next Saturday

That was really unlucky. Arbroath had one attack and scored, somehow from a throw in, both centre backs ended up on the touchline and they scored.

We hit the woodwork three times, had a couple of other of great chances, one cleared off the line late on and a clear penalty not given first half.

It wasn`t easy on a bumpy pitch with a swirling wind and a physical team that also time wasted. It wasn`t a perfect performance but we were comfortably the better team and did enough to win, clearly it is very frustrating we didn`t.

Thanks for that Bucuresti. Didn`t see the game but reading the posts above didn`t paint that picture.

Independent observers also have said we were the better team. That’s your luck when down the bottom

I certainly won’t be giving up on them

Queens fans had their team relegated a fortnight ago. Two wins and suddenly they have a wee chance. It wouldn`t be out with the realms of possibility for us to win our next 2 and really put the cat amongst the pigeons.

9 games to go

If this is true, which it pretty obviously is then some posters need to give themselves a talking to. Hitting the woodwork 3 times and losing a goal in their only attack, away from home to the team at the top who gubbed us three times already this year does not fit with the comments made from a lot of people.
This post gives me hope.

was 3 at the back so thats why 2 of the were over, Ambrose goes to sleep and lets the runner go which leaves us wide open. the rest is pretty much spot on though BP.

today just summed up the whole season really, its better to be lucky than good....and we are neither. was looking at 6 wins from 10 to avoid 9th, now its 6 from 9 and a prayer

Our problem is none of our forwards are good enough to play as a lone striker. The 5 in midfield was a decent workaround for our lack of options there at the time but after getting players back from injury and signing chalmers we should have tried to return to 2 up top.
Is it too late to do this? 2 up top with Thomas and Lawless on the wings sounds like a better option for creating chances than our current setup…

Not trying to sugarcoat another defeat, but if a neutral had turned up at that game knowing only that the team at the top were playing the team at the bottom, they’d have left a bit confused. Having said that I’m not sure Hughes’ style of football whereby a slow build up culminates in circulating the ball in front of 10 players camped on their own 18 yard line is going to win us many games.

Realistically it is between us and QOS who will go down. I don`t think we are good enough to survive tge playoffs. The trajectory has been bumping along the bottom all season. Of course JH has to talk it up but Im sure he is thinking and planning for next year in tge event of the drop. Im not doom and gloom about the drop. It gives us a chance to regroup if its handled correctly

Arbroath did not score with their only attack. Second half, they had 3 really good chances that they should have scored from. We conceded in the 9th minute and didn’t have a shot on target after that. We wasted so much of the game passing it around our defence, as if we were the team who were defending a lead. Having lots of possession doesn’t mean you played well or deserved to score.

The Dow/Dorrans double chance should have seen us score, that was at 0-0. Lawless should have scored late in the first half. O’Hara’s shot off the post and the late shot off the bar were very good efforts, in situations where they wouldn’t have been expected to score.

Basically, other than the Lawless chance off the post in the first half, I think Arbroath would have felt fairly comfortable defensively once they had the lead. We really didn’t trouble them much, other than 2 very near moments of brilliance. Arbroath had much better chances than us in the second half and should have won more comfortably.

I would agree with most of this post other than there was no wind to speak of. The pitch was decent and I didn`t see any clear cut penalty.

Played well for most of the game and had a couple of good chances to score but didn`t do enough to win as these shots that hit the woodwork were off target. You can`t score if you don`t get it between the posts and under the bar. The Arbroath keeper didn`t really have any difficult saves to make. It`s harsh as it always feels unlucky to hit the post but in reality it`s because the shot isn`t good enough.

Just back from the game , thought we created a few chances and with a bit of luck we would have had a draw at least, we are very pedestrian the game was crying out for someone to take a ping from outside the box yet apart from the one that hit the bar 2nd half we continue to try and walk the ball into the net, thought we actually looked better after the four subs , this constant "Donaldson to Ambrose
and back to Donaldson" is so frustrating for fans to watch and is not beneficial when its goals we need, Yogi is far to cautious and constantly playing one up front is not going to help the cause , the next three games will define our season , we seriously need 9 points , can we do it , i hope so .COYP

Good post Bucuresti Par - that was how I saw it too (although would like to see the possible penalty decision and looked remarkably calm for Gayfield today). As the Arbroath TV commentator said their goal was against the run of play and they blocked a number of goal bound shots and I think we hit the woodwork three times. However I agree with Gordi that we could do with being more direct and taking more shots rather than always trying to pass our way to scoring. Would also like to see us upping the tempo a bit.

Agree with that Gordi-b.
I got fed up typing that range of passing.

It was a beautiful day in Arbroath. Never felt any wind at all; in fact I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of it. Perhaps there was a breeze coming off the water for the fans on the sea wall side?

Also, not a clear cut penalty for me either ~ I felt Dow went down too easy.

Yes, Arbroath had a few chances second half in fairness, with us pushing forward. It is certainly fair to say again that we could/should be more direct, I`d have liked to see McCann up beside O`Hara for longer. Dorrans again for me showed he is not an attacking midfielder. Chalmers was much better today. Edwards was excellent first half, dropped off a bit second half, his crossing and Comrie`s is hopeless though, they are getting to the byeline a lot, especially with the wingers coming always coming inside to their favoured foot, but to no effect.

Hamilton next week, probably 4-5-1 again, probably a similar starting 11, on an artificial pitch, Dorrans might offer something like he did away at Queens, although for me it is time to end this experiment. I think Thomas needs to come in for Dow at least. O`Hara was good today, apart from fluffing what looked like a glorious chance in the second half, so he retains his place.

If there was little to no wind, then hopefully that is the last time we win the toss and choose to shoot towards our fans in the 1st half. We need every little bit of pyschological help we can get at the moment.

Having been at the match and not consulted the match thread until I came home I was surprised at so many comments on here (and other threads) saying we were dire. I actually thought it wasn`t a bad performance and much improved on the previous three against Arbroath. They are very difficult to break down and it is frustrating to see so many sideways passes.

I accept that hitting the goal-frame shows a lack of accuracy but they were three chances we created and, on all three occasions, the keeper was beaten and inches separated us from a result as was the case with Ambrose last week. We`re running out of lives though and really need a result next week.
