Club Auctioning Special Shirt for Ukraine
Topic Originator: buffy
Date:   Thu 17 Mar 17:56

From COWs:
Dunfermline Athletic will be showing their support for Ukraine by wearing the country’s blue and yellow colours in a special warm up t-shirt ahead of Friday night`s televised match against Greenock Morton.

The Pars have teamed up with current kit partner Joma to create special edition warm up t-shirts to raise awareness of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine after the recent invasion by Russia. The thoughts of everyone at the club are with the people of Ukraine during these exceptionally challenging times.

Following the match our community arm - The Pars Foundation - will be auctioning off these limited edition shirts, with every penny going to the Disasters Emergency Committee, Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Further details on how to bid will be provided in due course.

Would it not be fairer to run a raffle for the shirts, that way fans further down the pecking order would have a chance to win a shirt. Running it as an auction means that those fans who have deeper pockets are the only winners.

Perhaps a hybrid auction and raffle to enable all fans a fair chance.

The aim is surely to raise as much money for the cause not to be fair to Pars fans. The winners need to be those suffering in Ukraine

Who is to say that raffling a shirt won`t actually make more money and give Pars fans who can`t afford to spend a lot a chance to feel that they are helping the club in donating to Ukraine.

Raising money for any charity, as much as possible, is the aim. If you think it`s unfair then don`t bother entering

Brian, if you did as suggested, who would benefit rom the monies realised? I think a raffle is a decent idea .

(would need to win a auction item of course)
it would go straight back into the DAFC UKraine fund.

we did a raffle in December primarily wanted ome to have a chance of winning an item that may not get the chance in an auction.

You may notice on the Off Topic forum that I have been emailing russians in a propoganda response. after Syria, Chechnya we have to make a stand.

I’ve not heard anything back from the club regarding the auction of the shirts despite offering to take up the task

Would it not be better to see if the people buying them wanted them signed first?

Good to hear that the auction will be available to a wide audience. Getting them signed makes sense to me.

Definitely don`t get them all signed! I know its all for a great cause and I hope it raises a small fortune but as someone who has an extensive Dunfermline kit collection I wouldn`t want it signed. These will look great framed as a center piece and the signatures will just ruin the look of the shirt. It would be more beneficial to have half signed to allow those who are bidding the choice. (the unsigned will go for more ££)

Agree. Leave all shirts unsigned and if the winner of any shirt wants it signed, do it then ?
