We are a team ready for relegation.
Burst of spirit for five minutes after an inept display for most of the match is, in my head relegation material.

Don’t agree it was an inept display. But we are toothless in front of goal.

I`d prefer that they didn`t give that impression for the majority of every game tbh

Don`t agree with this at all. Team tried their hearts out today and controlled the game. Not their fault the way we`re set up.

I just think it`s easy to toss words around like inept when the lads were clearly putting a huge shift in.

I think we played the game on the opposition half for most of the time, we didn’t play badly and lost a goal that I think OFW would have kept out

Another must win game we didnt win, we are running out of must win games
On a brighter note we drew level with QOS

Tuesday is a must win game (again)

Maybe not inept but a team with no confidence, captain or positive leadership in my opinion.Been saying since September we will be playing kelty in the league next season and got to ask why I have been continuously thinking this? Sometimes just got to except it’s not our season and our names on it to go down Iain Wilson scoring sums it up for me as earlier in the season I was looking forward to him coming back to help us…

25 shots,
13 corners
70% possession.

Don`t think it was inept, we desperately needed to sign a natural finisher though.

Definitely not inept. They all bust a gut and totally outplayed Morton. Like many have said though all the good is wasted by a lack of confidence witj the final ball.

Personally, I prefer dominating games to sitting back and defending the penalty box but each to his own. Every game we seem to find a new way of conceding a soft goal though,

Who said McCann couldn`t head a ball?

Huffed and puffed but yet again, no win. Can’t fault the effort but the quality just isn’t there unfortunately.. it’s looking inevitable.

So much to sort in our club. A less than 14% league win ratio equals one thing in any league. We are a football club with so much to offer ...but with no football culture.

I saw a team who worked very hard throughout the game against big, physical opponents, who defended really well. It is to their credit that they kept going after going behind to such a poor goal, which gave Morton a lead to defend. The equaliser may have come late, but was thoroughly deserved and with a little luck, we might have won it.

There`s a noticeable lack of confidence when it comes to having a shot at goal - few players want to take responsibility and when they do, it`s often a tame sidefooted effort. That`s what happens when you`re at the bottom.

We`re not dead yet, though. 8th is gone but give me the play off spot now and I`ll back us to come through it. Better than 10th at any rate.

Work hard and dominate all you want, I’m interested in wins only at this point. It isn’t a shock we’re bottom of the league, the players have had all season to put a shift in.

Not chance of winning enough games if can`t beat Morton at home.

Hughes will stick with 4-5-1 so it`ll be more of the same

Npt sure abt a 5 minute burst AAP .
I thought the 2nd half in particular was probably the best I`ve seen us this season .
If we can show the same desire and play at that tempo from now to the end of the season , I`m confident we`ll finish above Qos and will be good enough to come through the play offs .

If we sit in and hit on the break it`s called `hoofball` and dire football. If we play possession football and try and dominate the game it`s called `tippy-tappy` and condemned as well. The truth is a lot of fans just want to see their team winning and the end justifies the means, whatever it is.

My own opinion is we are better with McCann in the team than without him. Preferably we would sacrifice one of the midfielders that seem to do the same job. Pybus has been best player for a few weeks now so not looking to drop him. Comrie offers more than Todd and Ambrose offers nothing, constantly putting his own players into bother with his poor judgement.
Prefer to see Martin back in or even try the back three again now that Graham isn`t there. Unfortunately we are too slow in reaching the opposition box after it has been from left to right and back a couple of times. The early balls into the box from width are the ones that we look most dangerous from. If it is the playoffs then momentum counts and we just don`t have it at the moment.

Good point by GG on players being shot shy, lack of confidence certainly a factor.

Every weekend on tv highlights you will see favourable ricochets, og’s, rebounds, goalkeeping errors etc resulting from good strikes and not so good. So have a pop, even if not net bound you never know your luck!

OK my initial comment about inept was wrong in hindsight.
I was just so disappointed we didn`t go full out for the win instead of just trying to pass them off the park.
This isn`t the time for pretty football when we so desperately need the points.
It was great to see Dom Thomas back in the starting lineup though.
He looked hungry and put a few good dangerous balls in there.

No way eighth is gone: we are 6 pts behind Ayr and play them at EEP before the end of the season.

And if the team is playing well leading up to the end of the season, a playoff should not be viewed with dread. Forget history, this is a different team.

Hope springs eternal, Mac, but for your scenario to work We have to at least match Ayr`s results in our other remaining games - A hard but not impossible ask. As others have said, we have improved but others in the bottom half have improved more.

8th place is obtainable if results favour us, however our stats do not inspire confidence.........so that`s a big if.

No wins in the last 6, only 4 wins to date, and the worst goals against column.

Pessimism or realism - take your pick.

Both one and the same perhaps ?

I do think we could win in the playoffs - because that is targetted over 4 games, no looking to see who above us is dropping points.

GG, we`ve had just lousy luck this season all around. For instance, Inverness and Rovers went on streaks recently where they could not buy a win, but we were unfortunate enough not to be playing them at that time. We`re playing them both soon, but Inverness is out of its funk and Raith is improving. Hamilton put four past Partick this past weekend, so the best thing for Partick is to play a midweek game, which they get tomorrow -- at EEP. But you get what you get and you don`t get upset.

This time of year, it`s very difficult to predict anything. But Ayr can be caught. I`m not saying it`s better than 50/50 or even that, but we have a game in hand and the six-pointer at home.

But you`re correct: we need to match Ayr`s results in the short term to keep them within range.

I`ve never understood these references to the `seaside league` in the context of Scottish football. I doubt that there`s a senior club in Scotland that`s more than a few miles from the sea. It`s just another example of the Americanisation of the English language and a lazy metaphor that isn`t appropriate.

Depends on your definition of "seaside" I suppose.

I wouldn`t think Falkirk, for example, meets the criteria, despite its proximity to Grangemouth.

McCann will be more effective if he plays facing the goal instead of with his back to goal, to achieve that we need someone hitting the byline and delivering a cross for him to attack

Seaside League, clubs playing in towns on the coast:

Aberdeen
Arbroath
Ayr
Cove
Dumbarton
Dundee
Dundee United
East Fife
Greenock Morton
Montrose
Raith Rovers
Stranraer

Misnomer perhaps?

There`s a good sea view from the away stand at Inverness. It used to be the case at Easter Road too although it may be obscured now since the ground was developed.
