I think Matty Todd did ok against Morton, and I get the thinking, but I`d prefer Ryan Dow as an attacking fullback or Comrie. We did play well on Friday, so no great surprise to see the same starting 11, but I hope Hughes is more dynamic with his changes.

Jesus wept and so did I when they scored that early, toys oot the pram and said we`d be as well as turning it off.
However, composed ourself and got back into the game, big slice of luck for the first but it comes from a great cross, pleasing to see Dom coming right in aswell so both the defenders were occupied.
The second goal is just wonderful, I complained allot about the numbers in the box so it was pleasing to see our full back getting on the end of a absolutely fantastic cross!
For the third Edwards (who had a bit of a mare for the Thistle goal) redeems himself, he`s actually the player that wins it from a Thistle throw in and puts the finishing touches to a lovely move.
I thought that Partick came into it a bit more by the end of the half, a good couple of saves from Mehmet but likewise I feel we should have scored on the break.
On the second half I feel any danger is going to come from Tiffoney on there left, I`m not saying Todd has been bad(far from it) but to help solidify the defence I`d be bringing on Comrie or Martin, someone more used to the defensive side of the game and standing up a winger, hopefully Yogi keeps in mind the massive shift our midfield put in and rotates them if they start to flag.
Delighted with the half, but please don`t throw this away.

Sat down to enjoy the game at 7.35 p.m. this evening. Bad start. (Did anyone else get kick-off wrong?)
But unbelievable score line.
And the last 10 minutes of the first half and the second half just goes to show ……. finally …….. how JH has managed to start turning this team around. What commitment! Absolutely the right tactics. Harry your opponents until they don’t know which way to turn and break at speed.
Mind you, tactics like that are exhausting. The guys must have been knackered by the end. Maybe though our full time status is bearing fruit, at last.
Brilliant, brilliant performances by so many. And I doff my hat to Mehmet and Ambrose who have taken a lot of stick these past few months.
There’s a real determination and commitment and cohesion about our style of playing and I honestly can’t recall when I would last have said that.
Relegation battle? We look more like a play-off team now. Too late of course, but let’s keep it going for the remaining games.

The players seem comfortable with the shape and are playing well.
Full backs given license to get forward at every opportunity.
The two holding midfielders drop to give us four behind the ball
Our two wingers come inside to allow the full backs to overlap as well as working their socks off to retrieve the ball, often in our own half.
Our striker occupies both centre backs
There is a good team spirit and an excellent blend of youth and experience
Partick and Morton both looked leggy. No doubt as a result of the amount of games they have played.
The Pars players are fresher. Aside from Edwards, the rest of that team have played fewer than 20 matches this season.
That could be crucial for the run in?

Fantastic performance after going a goal down. We finally got a bit of luck with the equaliser and it all went our way from there. We gifted Partick a few chances but at the end of the day we recovered well and managed to clear our lines. What a fantastic team performance tonight. Stand outs were Thomas, Todd, O`Hara, Pybus and Donaldson. All were tremendous. The thing I love about Thomas is that he never shied away. If he loses the ball he will try to beat his man the next time and won`t ever give up. Todd proved he is far better at right back then centre midfield and handled one of the best wingers in the league very well. Pybus is a player I wasn`t at all enthused about signing but he has proved me wrong. What an engine he has and he an excellent eye for a pass which was proved with the 4th goal tonight. O`Hara did not stop hassling players tonight and was very unlucky not to get a goal. It did look like a penalty to me but I`ll have to see it again. Finally, big Coll had the cigar out yet again. Never lost an aerial challenge and times his challenges brilliantly.
Credit to Deniz Mehmet tonight. I thought he was very composed and made some decent saves. There was one dodgy punch in the first half which we got away with but apart from that he was solid and his kicking was excellent too.
The only thing I`ll say is Big Efe scares the hell out of me when he has the ball! He played well but it`s not good for the nerves seeing him beating players in his own penalty box!

Leaving 3 small players upfront when defending a corner is smart, why more teams don’t do it is beyond me. Teams normally keep 4 back, less crowded penalty area and options for quick counter attack.

Finally a reminder of why being a fitba fan can be such a great thing. I`ve often been quiet this season but tonight I found myself in full radge mode, having a proper good shout at everything.
On the whole we played well and deserved to win. One critical difference was that although we did play it around at the back, we mixed it up and had a direct option when we wanted to use it. Those longer passes up to O`Hara worked really well tonight - generally not big hoofs, but targetted balls towards defenders, with O`Hara using his speed to put pressure on them. They did not enjoy playing against that at all, and I was very pleased to see it. I`ve said a number of times that it`s hard to win if you don`t have a credible direct option to go with whatever else you do.
Kevin O`Hara did that job brilliantly all night. I know I tend to favour function over fanciness, but for me he was our best and most effective player. The booking for diving looked outrageous from where I was, but maybe I just had the wrong angle. Some nice stuff from Thomas as well, but I ahve to say he was nipping me, early on in particular, by not doing his share of the defending.
I still think we overplayed at the back, Ambrose in particular. Once you`ve made space for the pass, just play it, instead of turning back across your man. It drives me mad and just puts us under pressure for no gain. But, combining the passy stuff with something more direct is certianly a big improvement on `pass short at all costs`.
And at last, a big break went our way with the OG, especially with it coming quickly after going a goal down. It`s been a poor season and we haven`t played well, but not very much has gone our way all year. A change of luck is overdue, and a few more breaks going our way in the remaining games could make a huge difference.

A great result which has been coming after another good performance. Credit to the whole team everyone contributed, but particularly to Mehmet who hasn`t played in such a while - he still terrifies me when defending corners but he can certainly stop shots.
Agree that a sub or two earlier might have helped, Polworth was knackered and Lawless didn`t have his best game - Ryan Dow for either of them a little earlier was an option. Matty Todd did really well at right back, although I still feel you could use Comrie or Dow in the same style and you`d get at least as much threat going forward, if not more. Defensively, second half we looked a lot more solid, so credit for Yogi for that slight tactical tweak.
Lewis McCann coming back for Saturday is good news, he will be a useful weapon up at Inverness.

The last two games have been a revelation - all players have performed well, individually and as a team.
Playing the ball on the deck mostly, through the midfield build up, none of the hopeful punts to anywhere in the general direction of the opposing half.

Long tern we look good. I`m still very uncertain if we can stay up though.

What’s your reasoning for that ?

Having Ayr and Queens at home gives me confidence we can squeak out of this.

I got the time wrong too Yorkie.
The way this season has gone I`m surprised that the score wasn't shown as "4(yes, four)-1"
First win since January....hope we can now get on a wee run now. Excellent resilience from the team.

What a pleasant surprise it was. Far too much positivity on here . Easily remedied
One swallow a summer does not make.
We have a hard away game against an in form ICT up next .
Relegation beckons still.

Agree Socks that OHara played well and the amount of running and pressing from the front from him was fantastic. Sorry Socks though, his dive was outrageous and a total embarrassment and he was quite rightly booked - he put his foot towards the Thistle player hoping for contact and threw himself to the ground - contact never came though.
Thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 games - I’ve been crying out for 2 up front but maybe Yogi is going to prove me wrong - it would be interesting to see OHara and McCann alongside each other though.

I don`t agree with that at all, and having now looked at the BBC footage of it I still don`t think it was a dive. He didn`t throw himself to the ground at all - it`s just a stumble as the tackle came in. It`s definitely not a penalty, as was pretty clear at the time, but it`s not a dive either and play should have just restarted with a corner.

Agree with above, had a good view of it from the Norrie, good ball winning challenge and follow through caught O Hara, not a dive so no booking but definitely a corner. Just another poor decision against us, luckily we`re very accustomed to it this season.

Agree with that.. he was expecting the tackle and he just kind of fell over the defender. He didn’t make a meal of it & didn’t really protest looking for it.

I`ve seen some blatant dives in my time but that wasn`t one of them.

O`Hara. No penalty, no dive. I`ve never subscribed to the theory that if it`s not one it has to be the other.
