What are people`s predictions?

3pts above QOS and 3pts behind Ayr with 6games to play.

We might just avoid drop on this form

Still to play:-

ICT Away - Win
Raith Home - Draw
Killie Away - Lose
Ayr Hone - Win
Patrick Away - Win
QOS Home - Win

3 wins and a draw should see us safe.

As long as two of the wins are Ayr and Queens.

Would imagine we`d be quite long priced to win at Inverness and the outcome of the Raith game might depend on how they go in the Challenge Cup final. I`d be looking for 3 wins in the 3 home games though, and maybe a point at either Inverness or Firhill. That would give us 10 points, so we could finish 8th if Ayr only pick up 7 and Queens get less than 13.

Ayr have:
Morton (A), Hamilton (H), Inverness (H), DUNFERMLINE (A), QUEEN OF THE SOUTH (A), Partick Th (H)

Queens have:
Hamilton (A), Partick Th (H), Arbroath (A), Inverness (H), AYR (H), DUNFERMLINE (A)

I can see Ayr getting as many as 10-12 points from that run, depending on how the likes of Thistle are going with regards their play off ambitions. Queens look to have a slightly harder tun in, playing Partick while they still need points to get a top 4 space and having the two big crunch 6 pointers to end the season.

I still reckon we`re looking at 9th and a play off spot but if we can go into them in a decent bit of form I`d be a lot more relaxed than I`d have been a few weeks ago.

That would assume Ayr only get 7 points or less from their 6 games. They play:
Morton (A)
Hamilton (H)
Inverness (H)
Dunfermline (A)
QoS (A)
Partick Thistle (H)

It’s not exactly unimaginable that they can win 3 of them, which means we would need to win 4 of our games to have any chance of finishing above them. Hamilton at home, QoS away and Partick at home are very winnable games for them.

The only thing I can state with any confidence is that the end of the season results rarely pan out the way you think they might.

Momentum is really key here. Wouldn`t surprise me if Morton or Hamilton get in the mire somehow. I mean, it`s unlikely, but you never know. Confidence is huge at this stage of the season and it would be wonderful if we could consolidate the Partick result with a positive one up north.

Hopefully Partick will still be fighting for the play off place on the last day of tbe season. If Partick are already in the play off or already out of it they will have downed tools.

Maybe we should let Partick beat us in the second last game of the season if it means they will then have something to play for in their last game against Ayr...

18 points from our last six games will give us 47 points.

All we need is for ICT (46 points) and Partick (45 points) to lose all their remaining six games (they don`t play each other so it`s technically possible) and we`ll be in the Premiership playoffs along with Raith.

I wonder what odds the bookies would give me ....

I try not to get too despondent when we lose and not to get ahead of myself when we win a game.

The Partick game was a fine performance and great result. Against Morton, the result didn`t match our good performance. Ironically, going behind v Morton and Thistle was the a good thing - it meant we had to chase the game to try and get something from it. In previous games when we`ve gone ahead, lack of confidence has seen us sitting deeper and deeper` to try and protect our lead.

These last two games will have instilled some much needed confidence among the players. I`m certain they will now approach Saturday`s game believing they can win it, whereas previously they might have gone into it hoping to avoid defeat. It`s fine margins like these which establish good runs in football - that and the odd slice of luck, like the OG equaliser on Tuesday evening.

If we stay up, I might vote for Lewis Mayo for POTY. 😉

We are unbeaten against ICT this season with 2 draws and a win under our belt.

I think we could snatch another late victory at the Caledonian Stadium.

Despite our poor form we managed to pick up 9 points from the equivalent six fixtures earlier in the season. We may have to improve on that to stay up but with our recent upturn in form we must have a reasonable chance of doing that.

Yeah a lot of people expecting to go on and pick up more points in the last 6 games than we have in any 6 games this season.

To sneak 8th I would guess we’ll need to win at least 2 inc ayr at home and draw prob 3, that could happen. Likely we’ll need to win 3 and draw at least 1.

So win the home games and take a point on Saturday if we can get it. If we finish 8th that would be a fantastic end to a frankly miserable season.

Things will be looking up……..now yogi is gone!

I suspect both Hamilton and Morton will manage 40 pts by the end of the season, so on that basis I think they’ll both be safe (8th or better).

A simple approach, based on the above; how do we get 41 pts?

Alternatively, is getting 4 pts more than Ayr over the last 6 games likely?

I fancy Ayr are capable of getting a couple of wins and one, maybe two, draws; so they could reach 40 pts too.

Could be our most realistic chance of avoiding relegation will be to keep ahead of QOS and hope our playoff form improves?

However, if both Ayr & QOS totally bomb in their last 6 games then we’d only need 4 points.

My guess …. we really need to win at least 3 games to avoid a playoff, but if we can win 4 that would probably secure 8th spot with 41 pts.

6 cup finals?
Yep, pretty much.

An alternative, glass half full way of looking at it would be:

We finally look like a team

We beat Caley away last time round

We were minutes away from beating Raith at home

We gubbed Ayr at home

We beat Queens away last time round.

We just gubbed Partick and held them away.

There`s been very little between us and Killie in each of the games.

As it stand we need 5 points more than aye with 15 to play for 4 if goal difference improves)

Must beat raith now to keep 8th in play.

With us still to play Ayr, that`d be your two goal swing (if we were to beat them), however we aren`t getting four more points than them. They`re good for at least 7-9 points.

If we don`t beat Raith on Wednesday then the best you can hope for is 9th.

Massive game next Friday night when Ayr host Hamilton. It`s definitely favour time. If Ayr win that we`re pretty much fighting QOS for 9th.

Gutted we could not continue the trend this season and continue to take points of ICT.

Additionally with Ayr drawing yesterday knocks us back further.

5 Cup finals left to play with the hope that both Ayr and QoS slip up more than us on the journey to the end of an abysmal season.

Looking at there games I`ve already accepted they`ll likely beat Hamilton and QoTS.

Now providing that we beat Ayr, QoTS and Raith, the game that looks dodgy for Ayr is there game against Thistle...

We`re not in a good place.

I don`t fancy our chances in the Play-Offs against any team competing to come up.

The last 3 games against Ayr, Partick and QoS are massive and must wins in my opinion.

Winning these matches may be enough but a draw against Raith may secure our survival.

I`d take 9th like a shot, if offered. If we can`t beat 2 League 1 teams - over 2 legs - who aren`t good enough to win their league, quite frankly we don`t deserve to stay up. I think we`ll have to win 4/5 to get 8th - a big ask.

So, having conceded a point advantage to Ayr after the first of the 6 final matches, it`s all over? How fickle are football fans? There`s still plenty time for twists and turns. I think this could go down to the wire.

I certainly hope it does go down to the last round of games and we still have a chance of finishing 8th or higher, but QOS and ourselves have it all to do. A couple of wins will see the likes of Ayr, Accies and Morton safe - even less if Ayr were to do the unthinkable and beat us.

All the Pars can do is to try and collect as many points as they can, but 9th is infinitely better than 10th.

Still possible to get 8th but we`re running out of games. I think to stand any chance we probably need to win 4/5 remaining games.

In isolation there`s no reason with the way we`ve played at home the last few games we can`t beat Raith, Ayr or Queens however the big problem with the team this season has been putting any sort of run together.

Just with the form of Kilmarnock needing to win the league I don`t see us getting anything there. Partick Thistle away will be tough on the ploughed field and I`d imagine they`ll have some players back from injury too but have to find a way to win.

Simply correcting a common error made in football related discussions, no intent otherwise.

No word play either - maths includes geometry and calculus etc. - you only require addition and subtraction to understand league tables, the other two arithmetical skills, multiplication and division are redundant.

In my pupil days, Mathematics and Arithmetic were separate O grade subjects with two separate exams.

Chic was correct, he knew that.

Surely you need multiplication to convert wins and draws into points? If you`re going to be pedantic about, let`s get it right!

"Surely you need multiplication to convert wins and draws into points? If you`re going to be pedantic about, let`s get it right!"

The league tables start from 0 points for each club, so adding 3 points or 1 point as appropriate to each teams accumulating total , which is how it works in practice, needs no multiplication.

They were separate subjects at the college of knowledge I attended too Parrot but it doesn`t stop mathematics being an umbrella term for it`s different various branches, of which Arithmetic is one.

Surely arithmetically is more accurate though and defines the basis for league calculations.

Mathematically speaking, it’s possible we could win the league this year without losing a game or conceding a goal!
