Never liked them, could be interesting if we get them in the playoffs!

I dislike them from their behaviour at the final game at their old ground. I believe one of them attacked Neale Cooper. Then they bought Clydebank`s place in the league.

Remember going to a few big games at Broomfield. Several of them were `tasty` encounters.

Don’t think they needed to add anything to their statement after the word supporters

They`re not "fans". They`re idiots who follow Airdrie. Every club has a minority of these people, it`s just that Airdrie has a few more than average.

Correct.

Hopefully Airdrie can identify them and take appropriate action.

I remember seeing Fergie and John McLaughlin make competitive debuts on my first visit to Broomfield. Nice wee ground and the terracing was concrete unlike ours!
No bother from anyone, some big Airdrie lads made room for us near the front and they were very sporting despite their team being well beat.

I guess they went downhill after that.

I stayed well clear of trouble, but Broomfield was the only ground where I used to run back to the supporters bus rather than walking. I only got kicked once, but that is still more than I got at other grounds.

Son of Gods` injury time equaliser in the cup at that old toilet of a ground.

Mental scenes in the ground, then scary scenes outside where their fans were waiting on us.

Unsurprisingly that was the match I got kicked at.

My memory might be bit fuzzy, but I recall the game being fairly awful and I think Cooper got sent off (or maybe that was in another game at Broomfield). We were 1-0 down in injury time, someone hoofed the ball into space, it hit a satellite and came down, Tod jumped and stayed in the air for about 10 seconds then scored a header off the back of his head from the penalty spot.

That`s exactly how I remember it. I`m glad it isn`t on YouTube otherwise I would probably realise that I got a few details wrong.

I have the vague memory of watching us play them at Tynecastle. I don`t think that one turned out well.

You mean getting into our first cup final in over 20 years?

It might have started earlier but I think the trouble with Airdrie began at a League Cup second leg at East End late 70s. They`d beaten us 3-0 there in midweek and were three or four up when they were chased out the ground (pre-cage days) and had their buses bricked outside the police station.

It might have been 1978 as we were promoted that year and there was a lot more trouble through there the next season when they tried to exact their revenge. The story I heard from an Airdrie fan was that even the cops were joining in, lifting Pars fans and giving them a doing in the cells. But he was an årse so I`m not sure how much credence I put in that.

Absolutely. He correctly identified Jimmy Sandison catching the ball close to the 6yrd box as I recall!

All clubs have some idiot supporters. The Pars team bus was attacked not so long ago, never saw any of those guys owning up.

If I remember rightly, Sandison caught the ball, bounced it three times, then spun it on his finger like a Harlem Globetrotter. He even had the cheek to whistle Sweet Georgia Brown while he did it. Anyone who claims otherwise wasn`t there.

I have to say that I wasn`t there that night. I had a ticket but unfortunately I was ill and off my work, so feeling like crap I had to stay away.

I was there. In awe at how high Tody jumped. Brilliant end to the match.

From BBC Sport:-

Former Airdrie player Rico Quitongo is making a racial discrimination claim against the club and a director. The 22-year-old claimed he was racially abused by an Airdrie fan during a Scottish League 1 game with Queen`s Park last September. The club carried out an investigation but it was subsequently dropped due to "insufficient evidence". An employment tribunal will now look at how the case was handled.

Quitongo, now playing with Peterhead, said after the initial incident with the fan that he was "not surprised" but "hugely disappointed" by the alleged racist abuse.
Writing on social media, he said: "It shouldn`t be in football and I absolutely don`t deserve to be personally abused for my skin colour. I`m all for banter with fans etc, but I will not tolerate it. I am proud to be black and proud to be who I am."

Airdrie appealed for witnesses at the time but later dropped their investigation, saying "we have now exhausted all possible options".

^^^ Apologies, wee eck.

I didn`t see your last post on this thread, when I dredged up my old one on the same idiots masquerading as football fans.

Not your average Sunday League player.
