Or the playoffs.
Ayr will take full points from their last 2 matches v QoS and Partick.
We simply must do 100% or it is the playoffs.

I hope that we have a massive crowd next week. It would be great if we could have support in the North East as well as the North West. That way our support would be on top of Ayr for the whole game.

Win next week, and the goal difference is likely to be incredibly similar which leaves a two-game shoot-out with Ayr ironically we have the same two teams. First things first a win next week.
Not consistent enough for me to win all 3, cannot string two good efforts together which is a worry for play-off ties.

ayr win next week and we then lose at Partick and we could be facing a winner takes all in the last game of the season. We’ll winner get a 2nd chance in the playoffs.

Will Partick rest players against us if they have secured playoffs? Got to hope so, we appear to have decided 2 home wins will somehow save us.

If we beat Ayr 1-0 next Saturday, or any victory by a single goal - then it’s equal points, goal difference and goals scored.

Unless my arithmetic is dodgy !!!

Whatever - we won’t be facing Falkirk in any playoffs.

Happy with the way this week has panned out overall. Great home win. Queens lose. Ayr didn`t win. We lost our toughest fixture by far with rubbish performance.

But the crowd will lift us next week and if we play the way we`ve played last two home games we win. Then it`s all to play for. Queens will be playing for their life at home to Ayr and we will hopefully match whatever Ayr do with our game at Partick.

I`m nervous but optimistic.

Great post. I think/hope the 2 home games and our support can be the difference.

Rusty if queens loose at arbroath then fail to beat ICT and we beat ayr they will already be down by the time they play ayr….

Ayr will also be playing a Partick team who will rest players for the playoffs. I just hope they start resting players as playoffs are confirmed by the time we play them.

Could come down to whoever scores most in the last game.
I can`t get too optimistic about our chances. Not because I doubt us as much as Ayr showed real desire to come back today. They will win against Partick and QoS.
We simply have to beat them by more than one goal and at least match them in the last two.
I see draws against Partick on their tattie field and Ayr at EEP.

There`s no point predicting results in this league. Just focus on winning our games as that`s all we can control

Oh Berkey, Berkey - you have turned negativity into an art form. I suppose the positive side of that is that you`re never gutted when we lose because you were expecting it.

I hope we can scrape 8th, but like Raymie, I wouldn`t be overly apprehensive about the play offs. Not suggesting we should be complacent, but we should be confident of beating 2 teams from a lower league over 2 legs, with the 2nd leg at home...

Our form isn’t that bad either in truth, too many draws but in the last 13 games we’ve only lost 4 games which have all been away from home against the top 3 teams. Killie away twice, Arbroath away and callie away. We shouldn’t be defeatist going into the playoffs if we end up in them

IF we end up in the play offs then so be it. I dont think Airdrie, Montrose or Queens Park would be particularly enamoured with coming to a rocking EEP to be honest. Not the way we`ve been playing the last few home games. They much rather be facing Ayr or Queens

£5 entry and get the place bouncing.

To start off I think we will be playing championship football next year. However my worst moment in football was going into that home tie play off with Cowdenbeath. A massive high and confidence to the utter depths of misery in the matter of minutes. I don’t want to experience that again. I still hope and pray we can squeak 8th.

Exactly how I remember it, going thinking this was a winnable tie and having the wind taken out my sails in the very first minute. 8000 there that day, Greg Stewart and Kane Hemmings leading the line for Cowden and Lewis Martin starting for the Pars in 2014.

Assuming we take something from them and beat Ayr.

That game against cowden was one of our worst days. So much optimism shattered right from the off. It`s why I`d like to avoid a playoff.

Still find it crazy to think they had Greg Stewart and Kane Hemmings up front. What a front line that is.

Dropping Callum Morris and playing two kids in central defence didn`t help matters either, LA. Still haven`t forgiven JJ for that. 🙁

How much of a commitment was he going to get from Callum Morris, already signed up by another club, would likely duck out every tackle to prevent injury. Along with his mental state, he wouldn`t care a jot!

Well that`s one way of looking it, L.A. We`ll never know how the game would have panned out with Morris at centre half. I know he was very disappointed to be left out - he told me himself. It certainly couldnt have been any worse than it finished with the kids in central defence. Most managers go with their most experienced players in crunch games......

That Cowden game I`m afraid to say, was lost by one of our legends. The hype, buzz, atmosphere of a full crowd giving it all for both teams before kick off reminded not only me, but others of the big times.
Then Jim got hold of a mike and shrank many expectations away, I Felt my heart and our chance sink. That might have effected also, who knows.

only 11 make the team, the rest can just but dream.

Morris, Page, Husband and Forbes all left on the bench - and Lewis Martin and Kerr Young in the centre of defence.

I think there was only one Jim to blame, and it wasn`t Leishman.

Kerr Young was awful, no idea why or how we persisted with him for so long, his performance the year before at Alloa? In the playoffs will go down as one of the worst centre back performances I`ve seen, 73 year old John Potter was cutting about all over the place trying to cover him.

Jefferies didn`t seem to treat anyone well who didn`t immediately sign an extension, did he not freeze out Geggan and Falkingham at other points due to it? Massive respect for how he conducted himself during admin, but he made a bit of a horlicks of the football side a few times.

Probably we`d have got the same commitment as Cowden got from Hemmings & Steward - both of whom were 100% certain to be playing their last game for them.

As is often the case, it wasn`t quite as simple as folk make out after the event.

Morris had an absolute stinker in an away game at Airdrie near the end of the season, and was justifiably dropped after it. Not too many people would have seen it, but you`d have to see it to believe just how bad he was. Jonathon Page was everywhere trying to cover the many mistakes Morris was making. Lawrence Shankland and Ross Forbes also had terrible games that day too, and both were also dropped for the next game. From then on, we didn`t have too much stability at the back, and also rested players in the last game of the season against Rangers who might have got a costly boiking.

In the play-offs, Page was sent off for a second yellow late in the first game at Stranraer, and obviously missed the second game. I can`t remember who played at the back for us in that second leg, but I don`t remember them playing badly. I assume one of them was Kerr Young, because he played in the game at Central Park and had a very good game.

One thing led to another, and the combination of circumstances meant we didn`t have a settled pairing at the end of the season. People also forget that Morris himself wasn`t greatly experienced either.

I`d probably have played him, but there were most certainly valid reasons why he didn`t play that day. In looking to have a go at the manager, it`s usually made out that Morris was good, Kerr Young wasn`t, and the manager was obviously being a stubborn idiot by making the selection he did. As I say, it just wasn`t as simple as that.

I remember that. We had a great atmosphere then Leish made it all about him by constantly sushing the fans so he could say a few words. Really sapped away the atmosphere and was absolutely needless. Didn`t put that down to the defeat though! That game was the mother of all sucker punches. I was so convinced we`d breeze that but Cowden swept us aside that day.

I do agree we need all 9 points to avoid the playoffs. Can`t see Ayr bottling it but if we play like we did against Raith and Partick we should win on Saturday quite comfortably. Can`t wait for this season to be over though, it`s been awful. Can`t believe we have been in this position most of the season with the squad we have.

The game against Airdrie wasn`t quite a dead rubber but it was clear from a long way out that we were finishing 2nd in the league.

The Cowden game was a cup final. Morris and Page were our best centre back pairing and best equipped to deal with 8,000+ at East End - so that`s who you play.

In midfield, the two best passers and most creative players, by a distance, were Husband and Forbes. Both are left on the bench and Ryan Thompson starts instead.

Jeffries had to pick a side to win one game and got it badly wrong - in my opinion anyway.
